Thread: Combat Modules and Probots...

From the information that I have, the Probot statsshould be the same, but with the addition of the Combat module system the cost to build a Probot will be increasing. I'm still waiting on confirmation on whether or not my 'source' was refering to the final build droid, or just the droid chassis. I'll keep everyone informed the best that I can on this situation.
Thank you, and please do keep us posted.
What I am most worried about is that old components will not work in new schematics - and I don't think any of us want to end up with a bunch of doorstops cause the Devs told us to stock up.

Don't forget the battery issue. Is there any talk about changing the battery life at all? Or adding battery indicators? I know both by talking to customers and by personal experience that this does affectthe probot's usefulness.

A comment on the usefulness of a Level 10 Probot in combat.
Two factors that keep more people from using a Probot in combat are the need to use a camp to call out a droid in the wild and the inability to heal a droids normal damage. Both of these issues should be taken care of in Publish 7, which will be a month+ away. The Probot has always been considered as a decent tank for Level 25 and below combat and according to the information that TH has passed along about the Combat System re-vamp, they will have even more value.

Well, some of you many have already read that there was a slight mix up in DEV communication. The time table for the Droid Invasion was incorrectly listed as being aimed for Publish 6 and Publish 7. The correct time table is Publish 7 and Publish 8. Thunderheart is trying to rallysome additional content for us, that I hope I will be able to comment on in the following weeks.
On a sidenote, I was informed that everyone might want to start stocking up on Probot Deeds and Chassis now, in preparations for Publish 7. The resource cost inadvertantly will have to go up, because of the way the slots are alloted and how the combat modules are made. I'm hoping that I will be able to elaborate on this comment, but it will more than likely be another month before I can do so.
I'm doing my best at trying to get some information flowing down the DEV pipeline.
Ladies, gentlemen and Woody
,
It looks like our doom is upon us. The one droid we have (besides the not-so-aptly-named power droid) with a built in function is going away. It sounds like the devs are moving forward with the combat module idea by taking the combat functions of the probot and turning it into a module. Now the Probot will just be another chassis like all the others. Drashk, please tell me I'm wrong and this isn't what's going on. This would be a giant step backwards for the whole DE line. I'm starting to feel like I should work in a fast-food chain. Would you like combat with that R2 unit?

Dang, I just made 1000 micro sensor suites... time to mass produce probots!! Anyone know how many droids come in a crate? Becaise,I might not have enough inventory space... (1000 probots, yikes...)
5 droid per crate cept mouses which are 10 per crate.

I too am hestitant to stock up on any droid components long-term, for fear they will turn into junk.
Nerf the micro sensor suite! A nerf that nobody can disagree with.
Oh god, no kidding! That thing is a PIA!

Just the addition of droid stims to heal white-bar damage would turn the probot from useless to good. Who is waiting for a probot to heal back their damage nowdays? I'm a bit disappointed they couldn't throw in that little fixthis publish.
not me. when I had a difficult mission and wanted my probot's help, I crafted a dozen probot deeds and just destroyed the wounded probots to tame new ones each time I rested. expensive i suppose, but when you are still grinding your way up to master de, it really doesn't end up costing all that much. I HAD to burn the resources for xp anyway.
actually what I really had was a dozen or so "misnamed" probot deeds that I couldn't honestly sell anymore so I took them with me to do the Act III Story mission this weekend. I went through 6 deeds in an hour.
So, does this mean that the probot will no longer have inherrent combat abilities, but will need the new modules?
If this is the case, will the total number of component slots be increased?

Any more info on the combat module?
Are we going to drop a weapon in there or something (like a T21 or and FWG5)?

Rebel Combat Medics (Surgical Droids) now carry around weapons, on TC. I've only seen one and it was carrying around a Laser Carbine.I was trying to drop a few harvesters in the area of a Rebel faction base and a sheet load of creature lairs. Being that I have positive Rebel Faction and 0 combat skills, I used the base patrol to my advantage and was luring the Mobs back to the base for the partol to take out for me, while I worked over the lair. The Surgical droid looked odd at first, but the more time I spent watching it work over the Mobs with its Carbine, the more I thought of mydays playing SWRPG. Anyway...
UPDATE on the the Probot info.....
The Chassis costs will be increasing, so some might want to pile a few Chassis away before Publish 7 goes live. This still is some weeks away and I'll try to bring everyone up to date on what the changes will be when the hit TC. The Chassis should be valid after the publish, but 'my source' wasn't able to give me much more info and stated that there wouldn't be a 100% answer until after the Publish hit TC. Droid parts should still be 100% compatible with future publishes. As always.....I'll keep everyone informed as I get info that I can pass along.
That is all.....Move along. ![]()
