unless the dev's get wild with the nerf bat all over the proffesion, I will be here for the long haul as well. I like the complexity of it and the fact it is complex anough that we are a rare breed, makes me feel unique.

Same here.. I was getting burned out as of late... What has helped is that I got dragged into the DWB dive to craft the jetpack. I've made 3 so far, and I will get one eventually. If you have no combat skills it's best described as "2-3hrs of boredom... 2 minutes of crafting H E LL." I've made nice money doing it and getting to know a bunch of people.
I will keep DE as long as i feel it's fun.

Lol, I am sitting here trying to figure out how to fit smuggler in with DE now
The new smuggler stuff looks sweet.

I am a master smuggler now and about to master DE. As someone mentioned above, Master Artisan is such an integral part of DE and you don't have the skill points to be Smuggler/DE/Artisan. /sigh

Long Haul baby, yea! Rolling, rolling, rolling... keep those wagons rolling!
There is something to be said for a profession where people will seek you out to place a custom order. It's fun to tinker with the droids and their various features. Plus, I like being rare. Its NOT like we are readily available at a dime a dozen or anything!

Definitely in it for the 'long haul'. Because, simply, I like making droids. I don't like making them in mass quantities, so I'm mainly focusing on special orders, but I want to keep the ability to make droids as long as I'm able.

I bought this game just so I could build droids. This month marksmy one year anniversary in SWG, and is two months it'll be the one year anniversary of my first shop opening. I've tried other things on other toons, but I just can't get into it, I always come back to the droids. So I guess I'm in it for the long haul.

The thing that kinda sucks is that we're so integrally attached to Master Artisan. It's almost a necessity to have it.
I agree. That is a big reason why I am in it short haul.
I have enjoyed learning about all the cool modules which I had no idea what they did. Also educating my freinds on-line about all the cool driod abilities no one knew about. But I only have one character and don't see DE as remianing fun for me for the long haul.

I seriously doubt I'll ever quit being a DE as my main identity in SWG. I didn't grind it out when we started, I took my time and got to master by plain old building and selling, and actually trying to BE a Droid Engineer to my core. If I ever quit being a DE, my main character will still be one, and I'd probably make another character elsewhere to explore other avenues.

The day I drop DE is the day I quit SWG forever. It was my first profession mastered, and I wanted to be a DE ever since I first heard about the development of the game back in 2002 (I think.... )

DE is a fun profession, even with all its quirks. I plan on staying a DE for many moons to come. (Pun intended).
