Thread: GameZone SWG player's review Feb. 26
Zocima.... u'd make a good critic. I do think u missed the 'point' of the message it sends, we all want to better this game, that's something ALL of us can actually agree on. It's not about the typos, or the personal attacks in a literal sense, it's more like the statements and opinions of one profession's experience thru it all. Some professions can relate, the fact is that no one told us in advance that there was a chance 2, 3, 4 or 10 professions would be ignored for 6-8 months, and if u were unlucky enough to choose one of them, well...SOE could care less, too bad.
Is that the kind of corporate norm u enjoy in an MMORPG? What if this became the standard practice all MMO's following suit from SOE's success with poor service and lottery type of choosing characters? Maybe some of u were lucky enough to pick a job or race in the game that seems to do well, then I could see a reason for strong disagreement. If u are one of these luck runners, I suggest starting a new character, say a Wookiee Imp BH. I chose that one specifically because that is the MOST gimped in the whole game. Check some other galaxy forums, there are mass Wookiee protests and backdraft flames coming from them all. It must be just kids ranting for nothing I guess.
Just because u picked a working class, doesn't mean u should go tearing down every other one calling them babies and whiners, they pay to play, so they have the right to rant, criticize, cry, whine, whatever the want. Who am I to pass judgement on some1's personal experience being untrue, if I was perfect in every way, I still wouldn't tear some1 apart. The fact the this article wasn't written to the standards of a Wall Street new article, or a Harvard thesis, is because it's not one ofthose.... it's a frikken letter to an editor of GameZone on his experience of SWG, and what he, and many others, think should be done to "better" this game we all want to love. Let me know how much fun your having in July when ur guild clears out and they decide to renerf u specifically again, or ignore ur invisible/deleted character for 2 weeks. Walk a mile my friend.

This may be an unpopular response, but...
What was that article supposed to be?
What was that article supposed to be?
A review?
A criticism?
An informative essay?
It was full of incomplete and misleading information. You sort of discussed
the BH issues, but didn't describe anything very well.
You threw in almost nothing about changes that have been made.
You made sweeping statements about deletions and bannings that you have no
actual facts to back up.
No suggestions were offered up. You didn't even offer a real analysis of the
problem.
"SOE should communicate more and hire more people."
That's what I got out of it, but will that really solve anything? Even professions
that are, for the most part, working fine, take the time out of their busy schedule
to **edit** up a storm.
Unfortunately, the forums do not represent a vocal majority.
I do agree with many of the things that you say in you say.
The problem I have with it is: It seems like this is more of a boasting.
"Look! I got something printed/posted!"
It feels like more of a "Look at what I did" than an actual well written and
productive article that you would like everyone to experience.
I could be wrong though...
A review?
A criticism? <-- both I believe
An informative essay?
It wasn't long enough?
problem.
"SOE should communicate more and hire more people."
I think it was more of a "walk thru our shoes look at it" and not a sales pitch for new buyers, or a diversion to not buy it, but a realistic POV from a player that doesn't look like every other SWG clone article in the media right now.
So millions of posts are a minority?
"Look! I got something printed/posted!"
It feels like more of a "Look at what I did" than an actual well written and
productive article that you would like everyone to experience.
Where did it look anywhere like boasting other than the Jedi bounty kill? Anyone of us who can actually find our Jedi mark w/out droids and camping deserves bragging rights. I think it's meant for the suits who run SOE to get wind of it, this and the 180 article are 2 of the only original, honest kind of articles in the media right now, not so P.C. so to speak.
At what point did I start playing a non-broken profession?
And... the big questions I'm asking are:
Why was this posted in the DE forum? Is it more than just some guy
bragging about a thing he wrote that got posted by some sight?
At no point did I say it wasn't a wonderful and stylistic piece of journalism.
I don't remember actually criticising the composition of the piece.
What I did say is this:
"It was full of incomplete and misleading information. You sort of discussed
the BH issues, but didn't describe anything very well.
You threw in almost nothing about changes that have been made.
You made sweeping statements about deletions and bannings that you have no

What about this? You guys seem so quick to attack me for attacking someone else.
The problem is, this isn't an attack.
These are comments on the validity of statements made in the letter.
I don't care if someone is going to bad mouth the game. Go ahead.
What I do have a problem with is someone misrepresenting what is going on.
If you are going to write something that explores the status of something, you have
to get your facts straight first. I know when I read something about SWG whether it
is bull or not. Non-SWG players don't.
I think that the author did a good job of dexcribing their experience.
I thing they did a piss poor job of laying the facts out.
THAT is my point.
