The maintenance module, though, doesn't seem to be saving me any trips without including power maintenance ... I pre-pay my harvesters with the same number of days of maintenance and power, so I'm going to have to make the trip anyway.

Okay, I'm trying to understand this...
What is the point of owning a droid that can do something you can already do? That is, how is it an advantage for a novice scout, who can harvest creatures, to be able to control a droid that can harvest creatures, and be the only ones who can control said droid?
I had those questions as well.
I guess the scout droid would be good for a rifle user who is too lazy to run up and harvest themselves; unless the droid AND the player can harvest, in which case that means more quantity, which would be a benefit.
No one uses traps in the first place, so I don't see that module really getting used - but it will be nice to have a module to fill out a "scouting edition" droid. It's the least useful of the bunch, by far, but it could find some use.

I realy like the changes to droids and i will get a few. As a merchant i like the barking modul but as a normal player i want the option to not hear that barking. Spaceports like theed and Coronet are the last months more as a pain to get to with all the afk shouters. I have now many on my ignore listbut i think this is not the rigth solution there should be a channel specific for sale. So i can modify my tab to have it on or not. There the droids should shout in and all others too. That would be a option to reduce the spam.
I dont go anymore to shops that will be shout more as once in 5 mins for a long time. And before i will spam my customers i will not use a bark droid even when i would like the option to advertise.

I think its much more useful for houses and shops. I don't know about some of you other crafters but I've got about 9 or 10 houses (couple of them owned by my friends) I use for storage on a few planets. I've actually lost a factory before because I tend to get out of the habbit of checking them when I'm not using them. It will be a lot easier for me to have the droid do a daily/weekly run to add in maintenance.
"Once all the structures have been chosen - it will then disapear from in front of you - unable to be called as long as the message it leaves behind says it will (in my test case - 15 minutes 7 seconds for 1 house standing right next to me phisically, and 24 minutes for 4 harvesters quite a ways off right next to eachother). you have to pay attention because it will not warn you when its done and you can call the droid again."
Now, I'm not sure if that is just the first time, or every time...if it's every time...well...ouch.
I can't imagine tying a droid up for that long, maybe my vacation home which I visit every few weeks at best.
If it takes longer than the flight there and back it will be only worth it in the most extreme circumstances - like if you are caught in an Imperial Prison or something, LOL.

Ouch...just read this in another thread :

Yea, I saw that. I need to run some tests on it to see if you can still call another droid and/or log out while its going. If so thats not too much trouble.
There have been Many requests for a breakdown of the resource requirements.
Here are the schematics as per the schematics that Jenden Posted. He is quite busy ferreting out the rest of the schematics, and I'll break them down as well.
As you can see, the resource requirments are pretty simple. Also, these all use OQ 50% and CD 50% for experimentation.
Here is the list of resource requirements as per the schematics Jenden Posted. Nothing crazy here. Pretty reasonable.

are we going to be able to have out more than one of the new droids at one time?
I know we can't have more than one droid out with a combat module, cuz they would imbalance the combat, but as I am a Master Musician can I have say one special effects droid out AND one playback droid out at one time? as long as neither of them have combat modules?
posted that in some test thread......... I'm sure you guys agree right?
I totally agree, but with the statement that reconstruction packs were made to compensate for our not being able to have more than one, I'm sure it's been mired in "balance" issues.
Now that utility droids and combat droids have really merged, I think it's going to take some severe campaigning to get us multiple droids. I mean, this is one of the most Star-Warsy things, it needs to be addressed, at least for DE's.
Perhaps they can limit the combat rating of multiple droids, or if you have two droids out that have combat capability one of them simply will not work...etc.
Back when pets were nerfed down to 1 out at a time for non-ch (including faction), they said they would address this after the creature balance (which has happened). DE's were mentioned specificly (with high-ranking faction officers) as being groups that would see + pet benefits.
We haven't heard anything about it since the initial nerf, and besides the existing bugs this is closing in at #1 of my droid issues list.

I don't feel it will take away or make surveying to easy, if they keep it at survey 4, you still need the points in survey to use it, and it is just a tool to help you. If not this goes with the harvest droid that is only used by a novice scout, I'd also say "whats the point" harvesting is easy enough as it is.
You don't see how a droid that gave you the highest waypoint of a specific resource on any planet in the game at any time would be totally nuts?
Think about it. A droid gives you the highest waypoint on a given planet - every single player harvesting would be sent to the same spot would be horrible. It would make it simply a "race" to get as close to one best spot as possible.
Surveying isn't that hard. Make a macro that dismounts you from your vehicle, surveys, and mounts again - it takes about 2 seconds to run that macro each time (/dismount; /survey; /mount). It shouldn't take you very long to find anything using that method, since you can drive across a planet in less than 1/2 hour these days.
As to the harvest module, as I said above, since mutliple people can now harvest a single creature, I presume the harvesting module would allow one scout to effectively harvest the same creature twice (once themselves, once with a droid). Now, if you are hunting gnorts that's nothing, but if you are killing creatures on an advanced planet that drop 100 units of resource at a time, 200 instead is a definate bonus.
I agree in theory - but they are not going to give away skill points as droids. I wish they would - trust me - but they just aren't gonna do it.

sorry but MANY of us are just sick to death of surveying and moving harvetsors every week...i just really dont want to ever have to do it again...
it is a WASTE of my time spending an hour running 200m, stopping, scanning, running 200m etc...especially if after walking 5000k you end up with a high spot of say 48%...
surveying is tedious and dull....
as it stands now it is ALREADY a race to the highest concentration...
the survey tree is a hold over from BETA when they had miner and otehr professions....it is really a useless out dated branch and is only in to fill up 4 trees to keep the skill tree all pretty....no one harvests by hand and that portion of the skills are just waste....i guess i all goes back to RK and his medival fantasy world, where we all walked around and dug in the dirt with our hands...
having a droid say me from an hour or more of boredom is worth it....
right now i just leave my harvestors where they are because i just cant bear to survey again
Tolium reactive gas is an "extremely" rare spwan resource. It could be 6-8 months before you see any with decent stats. On top of that, it is required for Combat Medic Adv resilience compounds. So not only is it uber-rare, it is in extremely high demand by the current FOTM profession, the combat medic. This is going to make it very difficult to find IMO, not to mention in any quality.
On the survey droid issue - Well if you guys all think it's the cat's pajamas, then I'm glad you are happy with it. I think I'll just continue saving my money and clicking over to SWG.craft for free a couple times a day, getting stats along with a current resource list. My server is very good about updating any mechanically harvestable resources. Now if you could use it to survey meat, bone and hide on another planet, that would be something that may help as those tend to lag a bit on SWG.craft, but still without the stats being reported you're still going to have to make a run to the planet to check a resource that may have an OQ of 3 and and SR of 15. And I get to pay a DE money for that too... wow, where to I sign up lol.
The point of seeing if something has "just" shifted has some merit, or for locating specific rares, but with 10 planets and the droid being consumed with each use, it is simply my belief that unless these things cost less than 500 credits, I just don't see any of the crafters "I" know using them. Any idea from test DE's on what cost would maybe be ? My guess would be nowhere under 5k, and with 10 planets, if you are going to do it daily as some say, well then I guess you have no problem with spending 50k a day on information that is less detailed than on a free web site so you don't have to "alt-tab" out of the game ? Sorry, I just don't but it.
This sounds like a good start.
One problem I see is that nothing here is necessary. For DE's to have a constant market, droids need to be necessary in the way guns and armor are necessary. If there is not a need for droids, once the novelty wears off (and everyone's got a droid that doesn't wear out), we will be back to having very little market for our wares.
Not trying to be negative, just trying to play a little devil's advocate. Overall, these changes are a good thing (TM) but we need something that is a necessity to others in order to maintain a long-term market.
