A really nice side benefit is going to be this : let's say you find some of that Lidium on Yavin IV, are you place some harvesters. Instead of traveling there everytime you are nervous about a shift (usually once a day for me), you could just get the resource list for Yavin IV. If it's a rare resource, chances are that if it still appears on the list that it hasn't shifted. Between this and the structure maintainance module Harvester work just got a lot more efficient.

Excellent point, A-O, this does save the resource-gatherer trips to see if a resource has shifted yet, requiring a trip to pull the harvesters.

The maintenance module, though, doesn't seem to be saving me any trips without including power maintenance ... I pre-pay my harvesters with the same number of days of maintenance and power, so I'm going to have to make the trip anyway.

Maintenance Module level 1 = 3 structures

Maintenance Module level2 =6 structures

Maintenance Module level3 =9 structures

Speed also increases as they go up - a level 1 with 3 structures within a generally close area - 1 day 1 hour to complete

Level 3 with 1 structure - 15 minutes

will have to keep testing to find specifics.

I have no problem the maint module cant put power or pull resources. I would find it invaluable if it could return whether or not its turned on or not. Tracking shifts is the annoying thing. But like AO said, a survey probe could probably help that.

Though i think the maint module should return whether its running or not.

Wow, I have to admit that I am really impressed with the modules that are being put in. It almost makes up for the lack of higher combat capabilities with more support capabilities. And not just one or two support capabilities, but several. I really like that. I am really looking forward to this patch going live.

Hey ThunderHeart, I know this is off topic, and I appologize to the DE on this. But a direct quote from Gattis's letter about publish 8 is, "Combat Profession Bug Fixes". Does this mean things that have never worked since launch, and for professions such as.....Pistoleer? I saw a reply from you that in publish 8 "its fixed". This was in reply to someone asking 2 questions. number 1 was fixing pistoleer specials, and number 2 was fixing the dodge animation when we run. The doge animation is fixed as of todays update. But I wan't to knowdid your reply mean to both, or just the dodge? It was unclear.

I have to admit, I am really impressed with the modules that are being pushed out. It almost makes up for the really low combat capabilities droid engineers currently have. Now it's more combat support capabilities and other stuff, and not just one or two either. This is really cool.

Okay, I'm trying to understand this...

What is the point of owning a droid that can do something you can already do? That is, how is it an advantage for a novice scout, who can harvest creatures, to be able to control a droid that can harvest creatures, and be the only ones who can control said droid?

the droid would be a "real" vendor....

speaking as a merchant i dont care WHERE or HOW people buy my goods...just that they BUY them....the merchants who frequent these boards are really too fixated on the vendors...really the vendors are just vanity items....most people could get along with the ugly Biz 3 vending machine.....

I would much rather have a droid GO TO MY CUSTOMERS rather than SPAMMING and trying to drive customers to my location...

The spambot is a TERRIBLE idea....we should be finding ways to reduce the spam, not making it some skill....

Without knowing the quality of the materials, a simple laundry list of resources doesn't seem to be saving me many trips offplanet.

I disagree. I was one of many who suggested this very implementation.

Giving us stats/etc. would eliminate too much of the "challenge" of surveying. It's not for casual "I'm on Naboo, let's see what the stats are on materials on Tattoine" use, it's for "Is there Lidium Extrusive Ore on Yavin IV?" With this droid, you will not have to visit 10 planets to see if there is a specific named resource you need.

A really nice side benefit is going to be this : let's say you find some of that Lidium on Yavin IV, are you place some harvesters. Instead of traveling there everytime you are nervous about a shift (usually once a day for me), you could just get the resource list for Yavin IV. Speaking of the structure maintainance module, I am curious as to it's limitations : i.e. how many structures can you add, do you have to be owner or just admin, etc. One of my larger game gripes has always been that managing property across planets is a nightmare - I'm always scared that even though I paid maintainance way up a bug or something might run it out - it just feels like I have to babysit every structure I own. When you have structures across 3-4 planets, it can give you quite a headache. I've always wanted a datapad tab that held the information about all your structures (including those you have admin on)- this seems like it might be able to replicate that function.

AO

But I can see if there is a resource shift now with out traveling to another planet, and I can tell you what the stats are on the resources, the only thing I have to do is spend a few hours running around the planet finding a WP. What would be the benifit of having the droid if it is a one shot deal.

I could see that they don't want a novice artisan with no survey being able to survey an entire planet, so if they survey droid had a cert in survey 4 this would still mean people would have to pick and chose their points, but it would make it a lot easier for those of us who don't have much time in game to spend on surveying for one resouce, when we need 3 different ones.

I saw the survey droid and thought my game got a little better, but if all they do is tell you what is on what planet, I won't be buying one, as I have the same abilities now without them.
