Thread: Ideas for new modules and droid types.

I would like to be able to add Shield Generators (Mk 1,2 and 3) made by armorsmiths, and fitted as a defensive module - so droids with 2 defensive slots can have armor and shield generators. This would decay exacly as they do already for people, but either a repair droid would fix it or a battery recharge would recharge it. Perhaps droids with shield generators would use power more quickly and require more recharges.

Repair modules could be catehorized: Mechanical repair (vehicles, weapons and droids), Electrical repair (droids), Structural repair (buildings, turrets etc), Armor repair (clothes and armor). Rather than an intrinsic ability to repair things, add an input hopper for materials so Mechanical needs steel, Electrical needs copper, Structure needs Ore and Armor needs stuff

This is what I've been hoping for. While I'd love to own a droid, I can't figure out what to do with one... On the other hand, if it gave me even a slight combat boost I'd be all over it. You'd sell a droid to every master rifleman if it could give a +5 rifle speed boost (lots of them will keep master marksman just for that), and I'm sure every profession has a similar need that they're filling by paying tens of thousands for skill tapes. I'd like to see droids take over skill enhancement rather than becoming the newcombat pets.


Personally I'd like a droid with a "spotter" modulethat gives a bonusto rifle speed or accuracy. As Droid_Engineer_Rho said, not a combatant itself, but a helper only. Just something to add onto my existing skills-- sort of a walking (or floating or rolling) skill tape, customized to my skillset.

I was thinking Droideka Battle Droids (Uber of course) that could rival even low level Jedi. The schematics would be drops of off droideka droids or Trade Fed NPCs. About 95% Resists to all and Light armor (to represent the shields) and High power,medium range carbine lasers. Of course the schematic drop would be rare, and the materials rare as well (not unfindable please). Give the DE's a chance in battle.

Ok, I have NOT read all the ideas so I am not sure if this has been suggested. If this is an old idea, please flame me for posting this...


How about a droid/module that would make a droid act like a mini factory? I think this would be a really good role for the Treadwell. If you feed it a schematic and put it in a room (you would need a house for this) with the materials and tell it to build, it builds. However it would build much more slowly, this would limit the amount it could make due to the charge running down. There would also be a limit to the complexity of the schematic it could accept. Though both speed and complexity would vary with the effectiveness of the droid.


Crafters with shops might find this very useful for their back rooms. If the animation actually worked, it would be a cool thing for curious shoppers to find...

Im really sry if any of these have been said allready, I did read a lot of them, well anyway here it is.


Have some ideas for droid specialties, these r as follows:


-Repair droids add bonuses to repairing everything, making repair tools much more effective and constant Cld they be used for sabotauge (droids, vehicles, at-st).


-Power droids could be used to power up personal shield generators, or could have there own PSG thatcouldsurround and protectthe owner as well. The later wld require the droid to be by your side while protecting you with its sheild. Also, they cld be set to self destruct creating an Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) disabling all droids in a certain blast radius, incapping them until recharged.


-Add profession specific crafting/customizationbonuses to the R series. There isroom for other professions as well (Smuggler, Image Design ect.)


-How about faction specific droids, I thought the probot was an imperial droid.


-Allow Treadwell to add bonuses to organic harvesting. Isnt this an agriculture droid?


-Medical droids cld aid in doctors buffing abilities (increased modification, longer lasting), cld they be used to poison opponents?


-Protocol droids cld accompany entertainers(only, so the need for entertainers would not be reduced)to play music, tell jokes (comedian personality chip), or dance (its a stretch) to increase mind recharging rates or increase buffing abilities (reduce time it takes, increased modification, longer lasting)


-Autopilots for space travel......

  • A survey module that allow enhances the range of the survey tool.
  • A survey droid (with a master artisan cert) that can actually be set to go out and find resources - maybe with four different modules, one for each type of resource.
  • A mining module that acts as a mobile small hopper.
  • A harvestor recovery module for BLL's that allows the BLL to go and retrieve resources from harvestors.
  • A module for the BLL's that allows them to move houses and harvestors without needing to fully re-deed them.
  • A jukebox module that allows dancers to dance outside the cantina.
  • A public address module that allows musicians to play music outside the cantina.
  • A spray module that enhances mask scent.
  • A specialized chef module that allows better percentages on chef food (better than a standard food/chem station)
  • A sewing module that allows tailors to make clothing that provide some minimal bonus - such as a tiny armor bonus, or the lowest possible level of BE type enhancements.
  • An animal anesthisation module that gives the BE's a better chance of sampling DNA
  • Have the surgical droid with medical modules in it operate at a +20 bonus, and have the cap be at 130% as opposed to 110% as it is now.
  • A targeting module that allows marksmen to sight their targets with a +10% bonus to hit.
  • A distraction module that distracts a hand-to-hand combatants opponent, reducing their defence by -10%.
  • A subsonic projection module, that helps CH's tame creatures.
  • A style center droid, that gives animage designer more options
  • A slicing module that improves the chances of a slice working
  • A slicing module that allows for some choice in what slice you get
  • A tactical module to add to the squad leader group bonuses

Actually I pushed very hard (I spent a couple of days pushing this issue) and the devs added bonuses to the Smugler Underworld Tree


A small victory, but you asked and its in. Here's how it works:


1. The system counts up your contraband and does the "scanning roll". 2. If the system "sees" the contraband (having made a successful scan roll), it checks to see if you are a smuggler. Depending on what level of Underworld a smuggler has, they get a progressive chance to "escape the scan". If the smuggler roll succeeds, then the player will get a message that reads, "You have successfully avoided the scan."


So if you want to get spice or sliced armor and weapons from one place to another and not get harassed by the Empire, then smuggle it







OK, so here is another place for more droid module functionality - smuggling modules!



  • Secret Compartment - allows items in the compartment to have a better chance to avoid beingscaned. Maybe with half the room of a normal item storage module.
  • Jamming module. This would be a module that would enhance the Underworld Skill of a smuggler. Maybe a 5% increase in the ability to smuggle items per level of module.

remember the bath that c3p0 goes into in luke's garage in ANH? wouldn't that be a cool way to repair droid wounds? an architect could make it aas "furniture" and you could place it in you house/pa hall. you could then hook your droids up to it, they could submerge and be healed.


i would LOVE to see this.

A Servey Droid that can pick stast of the resourses. Ad some bouderies like how long it takes and how many resours stas the droid can send back.

Hack TerminalModule - Seems like every other seen in star wars R2 was somewhere hacking something or repairing. I think if they ever get around to making more "dungeons" and content this could be useful. Make it so if you have aHack Terminalenabled droid you can take short cuts.




New Droids I'd like to see would be SBDs, doidekkas, and battle droids. They should range in difficulty in the same way that faction pets range. Battle Droid ------->Storm Trooper, Droidekka --------> Storm Commando, SBD ---------->Dark Trooper


FIX

Repair Droids - Make them able to repair SOMETHING, whether it be ships, swoops, other droids, or all of the above.


Surgical Droids - Should have some medical benefit built into them, maybe an auto heal?


and those HUGE cargo lift droids - Use those to unload your ship cargo that you can loot while docking with other ships.
