Most ideas I've had are already expressed here. Bascially I would like to see droids be skill buffers on just about every front. So modules that improve particular types of crafting skills, modules that improve combat skills if the droid is close enough (targeting droids), modules that increase dancer or musician effectiveness, just all kinds of things.


I'd also like to see utility droids like many of the kind spoken about in this thread. So droids that can tend harvesters and factories, can deliver products from bazaars or vendors.


I'd like to see more combat droids as well, but not DE only ones. I'd like them to be items in the game that all players can buy (but that DEs would have mroe access too since they make them). I'd rather see them in the veign of seeker droids where they come with a specific number of uses, are fairly cheap, so the turnover is high and the income steady. Sounds like an ideal candidate for something lower level DEs can produce too.

Exactly. Droids should be everywhere and they should buff or enhance just about everything. The critical difference is buff and enhance. As it stands creatures flat our replace or make actual players pointless. Droids should be improving everything, not replacing anything.

Would like to see more droids and fewer creatures. I mean, SWG is supposed to be technologially advanced, right? You don't have a durni out on your xwing trying to repair the damaged engine, you have an R2 unit.


Some ideas that hit me late at night --


Droids as 'attachments' to structures. You stick one of those there and you maybe get lower maintenance, can access structure status from anywhere on that planet without having to be there, can access structure maintenance/power from anywhere on that planet, or full access to that structurefrom anywhere on that planet.


Survey droids - lets you sample those annoying new resources that say 'the density is too low' for 12 hours right after it spawns, but without having to drop a harvester down.


Datapad enhancements - a harvester control panel perhaps, with access to harvester status & control all in one centralized location.


Droids as sensors - give you +1 to hit, +1 to alertnessor something like that.

I hope I'm not duplicating an Idea here, if so, I apologize. I was thinking that mouse droids could be used a couriers. I'm a master architect and I don't maintain a vendor. My business is word of mouth and I like it that way. I'd love to havea mouse droid that I could load with a finished deed, program it with priceand who to deliver to, and send himoff. The Droid would find my customer and start following him like a puppy, squeaking for his attention. My customer would open the droid, click on a popup agreeing to my price and retrieve his item. A bank transaction would automaticaly be made when the client agreed to the price and unlocked the droid. then my mouse droid would scurry back to me. Bigger storage modules would allow for multiple items. Better logic chips would allow for multiple deliveries to multiple customers. High quality droids would be faster and have a longer life span (these little droids should decay with each use and need ocasional repair and replacement).


Just my two credits worth.

Rather than new modules or droid types, I would love to have the following:

Droid tactics:
Droids are programmable entities, so you should be able to program them
to perform certain repetivie actions. IMHO it's unlikely we'll see anything
as comprehensive as a Droid Programming language, but the addition of some
planning and manuvers would seem straightforward and create alot of new
tactics.

1. Using the ctrl-M map, allow the owner to set a collection of
waypoints, delays, and attacks. See the Command Map in Ghost Recon. The droid
executes this path when the player chooses Patrol.

2 Star attack: Using the targets position as the center, fly a five-point
star around the target, ending up outside weapons range at the maximum point of
the star.

3 Circle attack: Maintain Ideal weapons range from a target, while flying
a circle around it.

4 Flyby attack: Fly by target, firing at closest point of approach at ideal
weapons range. Switch to Star attack afterwards.

5 Break off: Basically a kite.. just don't bring the sucker towards me
like in /follow!

6 Variable speed: Allow speed settings from 1 - 100% of max speed.

Combat specialization possibilities:
DZ70: sniper, long range rifle-type weapon
Probot: brawler, short range pistol-type weapon
Airbot: high-flying droid that drops grenades or strafes its target (need a model)

I don't know if anyone has done this already, but I've drafted a list of modules
from this thread. I hope to post it soon, if noone else has built one.
A few additions of my own (perhaps already suggested? I'll dredge the archives
again soon):

a. Stealth module: hide droid from radar
b. Remote viewing module: presents a picture-in-picture view from the droid
c. Sapper: reduces minefields
d. Camoflage module: holographic camoflage that hides droid from viewing by players and creatures

This isn't really about new droids or modules, but rather a change in implementation of what is already available.


My big thing is to make droids useful by modifying the abilities of other professions. A medical droid that stores large amounts of stimpacks and adds mods to the owner in his or her med skills, a BLL that can hold multiple storage modules to reflect its lifting power, R2 droids that help slicers, repair droids make my skill better....


Heck, even combat droids that help combat classes instead of actually fight. Like the DZ70 actually helping a BH hunt marks by giving him bonuses, or a Tactical Droid that allows a sniper better chances to hit or defend....


Has anyone ever made a BLL? I have only seen frames and the NPC ones, I've never seen anyone willing to use the sheer amount of resources to build one since everything you can get in it can be gotten in an easier to make droid.


I know we are all supposed to wait for the "big fix", but I waited for months for a Merchant fix before giving up Mastery there and really don't feel like waiting for it here. The Dev's already have plenty of negative credibility faction points from all of the broken promises and lack of response so I won't hold my breath.


We don't need new, we need the old to work in a proper and intelligent manner.

I just thought of the following idea for a droid: Surveying droid.


I thought about this idea after thinking of how bounty hunter droids work. Simply put.. you release this "serveydroid" (has charges) and it floats off. Within a specific amount of time (maybe 5, 10 minutes), it sends an email with a waypoint of the highest concentration of a specific resource that you asked it to look forwithin a radius (maybe 2k radius). This droid could require a certification with Surveying IV.

OK, don't know if this idea has been posted befoer -


But how about a surveliece module?


You would have that module in the droid. Then, you could switch your display to render what the droid sees, as opposed to what you see.


You could drop say a 3P0 in your shop, and take a peek at what was going on in your shop from a distance, for example.

Droids have a purpose! we don't need to invent new ones, lets use them for what they are intended for!:

droids are supposed to make our lives easier, safer, less tedious.



  • If i have a survey skill i should be able to program my droid to head west till you find concentration x% this would finnaly be a use of MSE's that wouldn't be completely unreal. send 5 out, sure2 die one gets lost, but the last two find you a spot to go put your harvs.
  • the power droids servicing harvs is great
  • a Minor factory modual, let my droid make an item, slower thana factory.
  • Let me program BLL to go get material from my harvs.
  • Repair droids, gee let em repair! maybe some vehicle maintinace?
  • Let repair droids go tend mystructure maintinance, just put bulk cash in the repair droid. He does the run for me.
  • combat droids cool nuff, but forget this DE=CH crap. DE's make droids, WS make weapons, should a weaponsmith get certed with all his weapons? no. so why would a DE become a Droid Handler?
  • Certing some good droids? not a bad idea. here is a way to do it:


    • every novice block gets a +x Droid level

      • novice blocks ain't cheap
      • everyone gets at least one
      • it's a good measure of someones ability without taking this away from dabblers who choose not to master proffesions.

  • Let Medical droids help medics but not be everyones healer bot,

    • give em free storage for stims/wound packs, that the medic can auto-pull from
    • let a droids med rating decrease the mind hit on the medic
    • let med droids heal wounds in the same way as a camp does but only with high end moduals.

  • Delivery droid: Let me put a modual in a droid the lets me send it to another player. Like a tracker just with less death in mind, course trackers need to be able to track players as well.
  • Protocol droids should have diffrent moduals to learn diffrent languages, then make it harder to learn languages for players.
  • Let "floating" droids keep up with vehicles.

On the harvestor runs survey and such, yes the droid should be in danger of getting aggro, though a bit less than a player would, they don't smell like prey.

I wanna see like a totally awsume battle droid that is huge and uses like... 30k of metal or some crazy thing like that. Something that really is awsume but really hard to get like.. umm we know rare metals mostly only drop once ever few weeks and only for a few days.


So in order to get the 30k of the metal u would have to drop a harvestor down the first day it came, AND you would have to have a fast harvestor!! Then they would be like uber rare.. and it would justify them being like.. 4k hams or something cool!!!!!!!!

Harvester Droids!
-A droid to collect my goods for me on planet or off (off planet would require some extra maintence airfare etc.) You would still have to manually move your harvesters so you wouldn't have everything for you.

Medical Droids!
Droids that can heal you in combat but not mearly as fast as a medic can. A droid could only stim you every 15 seconds + you would have to load up the droid with stim packs and wound packs (maybe only stim B's and wound A's)

Tracking Driod- the droid uses it's radar to track for creatures in the area.

Combat droid equivalent to a CL 10 at least maybe even 15!
