Ok, had a chance to play around with the HAMs, I got a DZ70 up to 210 and an R3 up to 313 (this was with 5 exp. points). It seems with the testing we've done that the experimental HAM gives you 0%-10% increase from the base (current) HAM of the droid at max experimentation.

He means a R5.

Why dont the DEVs just modify the Adv Probot schematic to include 2 of the new combat clusters so we can achieve the max 6 TH said would be needed to make the best combat droid, instead of the silly R3.

The ADV R3 with a max Combat Rating of 600 and 100% Effective Experimenation has 330 HAM, 70 - 80 Damage, 1.5 Speed, and 0.35 To Hit.

The ADV Probot with the same rating and Experimentation has 990 HAM, 110 - 130 Damage, 1.5 Speed, and 0.35 to Hit.

I think that this can lay to rest all of the worries that everyone has had about the ADV R3 becoming the best combat droid. The ADV Probot will still hold on to this title, at least until something else comes out that is better.

so what is the rhyme and reason in the formula by with the combat modules stack if 6 modules in the R3 gives less combat functionality than the probot which has only 5?

Most likely there is some sort of modifier for the different chassis.

What this means is different droids have different stat caps. 6 is still what you need for the best....of that particular droid model.

It just so happens that Probots will need 5 to reach their cap.

Drashk, I would try this myself but I have a n00b Novice DE on Test. What does an ADV R3 look like with only 3 of the 6 Combat modules in it? Or an Probot with only 2 or 3 out of the 5 max? If there is a theoretical max for each chassis, when is it reached?

Thanks, all of you guys for the info...

I'll try to contribute as much as I can as my Test DE, Beejo, climbs the skill tree.

Everything seems to be centered around the Droid that you install the modules into. So for once, each droid actually dictates what it can and can not do. One thing that I haven't seen mentioned yet is that the Adv R3 is still a Level 7 Droid and not a Level 10 Droid like the Adv Probot. It would appear that the maxium damage base of each droid is 10 times the Droid Level. (Can't remember if the LE follows suite with this idea.)

There will be people who buy one of the R-series droids just so that they can see it attack. As mentioned earlier, the ranged attack for an R-series droid comes from the Electroshock prod. The droid opens up its torso and the shock pod pops out and fires off a bolt of electro static energy (at least this is what it appears to be.). When the droid closes to melee combat, the Buzzsaw pops out and the droid rocks back and forth while striking out. I'm not thrilled with the R-Series being directly involved in combat, however the art department did a bang up job on making the droid look pretty good in combat.

but that doesn't make any sense. why say that sixis what you need to reach the cap if the only droid thattakessix modules has a cap that is a lot lower than some other droid that has only five modules?

In fact, the way the system appears to be designed, the cap itself has absolutely nothing to do with the modules themselves, but instead is a function of the chassis.

That's fine. I like that a lot.

the "that doesn't make any sense" was to one of the much earlier posts, not Drashks.

I have one other thought, now that the developers finally appear to see the value of having abilities intrinsic to the chassis, is there any chance that they will finally do the same with each droid's utility functionality?

you, know, like giving the repair droid either an intrinsic repair ability or a bonus on its repair ability. or like giving the surgical droid a higher medical rating cap. or giving the bll a higher storage rating cap. and then finding some new utility ability that the protocol droid can be "best" at and adding modules for it, and increasing the protocol droid's cap for that ability?

If they could extend the idea that different chassis have different caps to the utility functionality in publish 8, then the chassis' would finally have some individual flavor and function.

From all indications, the Combat Rating Cap for all Droids is 600. (99.9% sure on this one.)

From all indications, the Combat Rating for a single Combat Module is 120 (95% sure on this one.)

If the second one is true, the Combat Rating for a Combat-Capable Cluster Socket would be 360.

The Combat Module System is currently effected by two factors -

  1. The Combat Module Rating.

  2. The Final build of a Droid.

I had a talk with QA on TC and he will be running some info by the DEV team to find out if going on with the Combat Module system. The rating of the Combat Module is the first item in determining the what the final droid will be like. The closer the overall Combat Rating is to 600, the closer the damage will be towards achieving maxium. The next factor that determines the maxium damage is the Final experimentation build of the Droid. QA is not 100% certain that this is actually intended, and is one of the items that is being brought before the DEVs.

Anyone remember that Dynamic crafting system that I wrote of a few weeks back? The new Combat Module / Experimentation system would actually be a viable candidate, unfortunately we won't be able to see its full potential until droids that are higher then Level 10 are introduced.

Today was only the first pass our crafting system and we may see values increase or decrease as this Publish spends more time on the Test Center. So far, the new changes to the Experimentation system looks pretty promising.

Is exerimintation having any meaningful affect on all the other components, like droid brain, motive systems, etc. etc. with the new publish?

So then, this new combat module system is not what TH posted. It takes 6 Level 6 modules to make a CL 10 Droid.

It makes no sense to me to have to fill an R3 with modules to get to CL 7. CL 7 and no utility, where you could make a CL 10 probot for less time/resource investment.

An R3 unit at CL 7 should have some room left for utility. This is why I'm curious at to what the R3 looks like with half or less of the combat modules. Anything less than CL10 should leave room to add other modules, in my opinion.

A CL 10 Probot with the stats Drashk came out with, and no other utility, is okby me. But aCL 7 R3 with no room for utility, because it has to be filled with combat modules, is not ok...
