Update on Playback module:

while the module does not record flourishes, it DOES accept bandflourishes....very nice... two musicians with one droid each can now make a full band of 4 instruments if they want

First off.

This is a very pleasing patch. I hear (read) many complain about not getting any attention in this patch (Test center forums, other profession) To them I can only say. This is the second DE patch. Most of it is (as it should be) concentrated on the DE's. But many of the modules is usable by other profession and some are even profession specific. So I think this is a patch that many will benefit from. DE's the most as they are the ones to craft these things.

I am curious about the survey module/droid. Is it a module that you add to a existing droid chassi or is it a new droidskin?

I hope it is a new skin, something resembling the Seeker droid would be nice. I also like the part that it is a one use only, which will make these our biggest sellers. (I think) Many are harvesting resources and this baby will make many happy.

I saw in one of of TK's replies that he didnt' have any Tolium Reactive Gas so he couldn't make the exploding module. Are there other new and special resources needed for these new modules?

I hope not. We do have a very extensive list of specific resources needed already. To add more to that list will probably increase the cost of the droids.

Barker module.

I hope we can add Ignore this. I like the fact that you need to be on the same server boundary for it to operate. This will prevent people from dropping it off and head someplace else. But still. even 3 of these in close proximity will create a spam to big to handle.

From Jaden's list I counted 4 entertainer modules. Nice addition

The stimpack release droid.

Stim A's seemed a bit low to me when I first read it, but then again... if it would accept any higher stims it would be a bit unbalance towards medics and docs. It may not do much difference when you are fighting krayts, Kimogilas or Rancors, but there are still players who dont have an elite combat profession.

Higher Droid Ham.

This is sweet. 3800 HAM, 5000 HAM.. This will make droids more valuable, not only to low combat skilled players but also to the medium and high. Even with doc buffs a player can't get to 5k HAM. One question though. Is the attack rating (Damage) increased as well, or are we still looking at a 60-80 damage LE repair droid?

All in all. A very sweet publish and this will keep me in DE.

A question or a plea to the DE's on TC. could you try and check the DE craftable items and see if there are any new specific resources needed. Give us a time to gather them up.

Thanks all. Both the Devs and the DE's on TC for their hard work and help in bringing info to the masses. Also a huge thank to the players that thought up these modules.

I am amazed at all the cheering this patch is receiving. Its a very weak publish with little bug fixes and again broken promises to fix more pressing matters.

PVP is absolutly broken atm. There are alot of bugs that needs fixes and have not been addressed for ages. The whole combat re-balance delay is a mess since we got the creature re-balance and where told at that time to hold out critique till its all done.

Nothing to look forward to in Publish 8, so when is 9 due?

Not everyone is aiming for combat or PvP. combat may be borked, unbalanced and bugged. but the DE's have been like that for a long time. This patch aims to fix that in some way. Not everthing can be combat oriented. If it was, everyone would be hjaving 1000 battlefatigue and 1 HAM as none would be around to fix them.

would think atleast 2 weeks on test before it goes to live. Maybe more

Added Creature Harvester Module to the DE skill tree: This module will allow any character to program and control an equipped droid to advance on the look-at target of the player and harvest the resources on the creature. The player can preset the droid to harvest one of the three types: meat, hide or bone. Or the player can just let the droid pick a random resource type.

Is this useable by any Profession? Say, a Jedi who has no Scouting skills? Can they now harvest with the Droid Module?

Casper

This is a Scout module (only).

Respectfully,

Curious about something ... why would someone with scout abilities, buy a droid to do something they can do on their own? I was thinking "Cool, I can harvest again...with a droid" ... (since I have no scout) ...

I was thinking exactly the same thing - why would someone with scout already need the hassle of a mechanical harvester - unless they collect more? The harvested organic market is already slim - it wouldn't hurt to throw this open to everyone with a droid, especially if - as I suspect, they probably don't harvest much.

I was very excited when I read this - till I saw the scout only thing.

It might be that the droid harvest the resources while you are busy fighting another mob. As it is nmow you have to wait until you are no longer in combat to be able to harvest.

I dont think it will gather more resources then you could as you move up the scout trees. Still to early to say.

A post on the TC forums mentions that the droid itself moves over to the corpse and then harvest. But the droid dont have terrain negotiations so any uphill movement will slow it down.

Hey team, please note:

Am I the only one who constantly hears that ANY kind of fade on the coloration is an annoyance and that most people don't bother with it because they see it as a waste? I know you're trying to create a renewable market for Artisans and DEs by making the coloration fade, but I REALLY think that the majority of the player base doesn't like the feature.

Would you guys ever consider removing the fading completely? I still think people are more likely to purchase coloration kits knowing their favorite color combo is going to stick until THEY decide to change it. Thanks guys.

/agree, I would actually use customization kits on both my droids and my speeders if the colors didn't fade.

come on man, have some love for the DE's they have been trying to get their re-vamping done since before Christmas. I believe that the GCW re-vamp will address your PVP concerns.

26 August 2003 - Devs make their first detailed promise to overhaul the Smuggler profession.

27 September 2004 (03:10 PM) - Smuggler_Caylin tells fellow smugglers that he is stepping down as Smuggler Correspondent.

23 November 2004 - PillowTech switches to World of Warcraft.

You must not be a DE then, I for one am real exicted about this publish, it makes me want to play again and build "usefull" Droids. I really couldn't believe my eyes while reading the patch notes, so much good things.

Great Info! Anyone know if traps in the droid are limited to the scout traps the player can build?

I would think that the owner loads the traps on the droid and then activate it to fire them.
