The definition of a socket cluster states that it is "An array that can fit a variety of droid sockets". How many types of "sockets" are there? Two. The cluster currently fits a variety of them...

Hate to bring this back up since it hasn't been touched on in a few pages, but I'd like to point out the common misconception here.

There is only ONE "socket". You have the "Droid Service Module Harness" which holds normal Droid Modules, and the "General Droid Module Socket Cluster" which is the receptacle for Clusters. Note the wording here, since this is what you are hinging your argument on. The receptacle for the Service Modules (storage, medical, repair etc.) is called a "Harness", whereas the receptacle for the cluster is a "Socket". As far as being VERY CLEAR in their language I believe you are correct, but you fail to follow it all the way through.

I do agree that it would be much much better if we had final, defining words from a Dev on this issue, but truthfully anyone should be able to see that it is not meant to work the way it currently does. Combine the wording, the module progression and the illogic of stacking everything into one Droid no matter which model and you can plainly see the situation is messed up.

And as far as the changes go, it may be only a few but at least they are making some changes. I'd much much rather they trake it a bit slow and actually do them correctly then try to push out a dozen or more "fixes" and do them half-way. This is our soup, next month is the salad. We may even get some sherbert in March. If by April we haven't been able to dig into the Main Course of the Droid fixes and re-working then we it will be time for Major complaints. So please, until that time, try to discuss the positive aspects of the fixes and stop continually harping on the negatives. Some of us hate coming to these boards because we always leave in a lousy mood.

Well, i for one am really not getting all 'hyped' up. Almost all of these should have been taken care of in the 1st few months of the game or hell, even in beta 3. All I see here is wool being pulled over alot of peoples eyes. Sorry but Put up a message when it has REAL DE content.. not just junk that..

Lol, seems chef's will no longer be the most broken profession. Their fixes are promised to test center this week.

So do we get the title now? will there be a ceremony?

Top priority we are for months.

except for the bio engineers and chefs.

Actually, that is software development in general. When did Windows 2000 come out, and what was its launch date originally?

you are talking microsoft there.... they took 90% of the developers off of win2k to place them on the next version of windows which would totally replace windows the year after win2k was released....

not to be insulting... but I am beginning to think SOE is pulling our devs off of our profession and putting them on 'more important things' <- and that would be their terminology if truth be known

Wow, the devs have managed to tell us theyre thinking of afix for bugs that were tested and examined as bugs BY THE COMMUNITY.

i.e. they haven't bothered their backsides to look into the profession themselves.

GG devs, I salute your hard work.

Well, I am glad that there are bug fixes going in - I am one who agrees that fixing what is broken should be the highest priority for the DE class, but these seem to be, for the most part, minor and cosmetic fixes.

I'm tickled that the BLL will actually be able to do something (even if it can only take one module), however, the issues of fixing the Level 2 Data/Item naming problem, displaying combat type info for non-combat droids, and the experimentation and XP fixes for the customization kits are (to my thinking) what we call at my company "quick wins." That is - things which are fairly easy to fix and add up to several bullet points on a list (since our higher ups seem to think that 5 minor fixes are better than 1 significant fix, much in the same way small children think that 3 one dollar bills are better than 1 five dollar bill).

yep these fixes are right up there with other eye candy they've already announced for this patch.

Once again SOE is doing knee-jerk reactions to bugs, rather than sorting them out properly. Whats the point of only 1 module/slot in something used to lift heavy loads (surely it needs more slots for when they think about making storage stackable). Whats the point in putting one slot into a Protocol droid, surely this is a high end droid?

These changes are right up there with the ability to colour vehicles... pure gimicks.

Time to drop DE and move into the Chef line, at least they are getting their promised revamp (all be it 3 months late)

The only things that sell well in my vendor is the Static Droid Chassis, and BH droids. Nothing here to hold off dropping DE and trying something else.

If you're referring to the DH class, I'm well aware of it. It's a separate issue from what this thread is about. I understand and identify with these concerns.

I wasn't saying that I don't understand why people get upset in general, I was simply responding to the general reaction to what should be basically good news.

The DE profession is like a homeless person living outsidea restaurant. Day after day we watch people leave with full stomachs, and bags of leftovers. They pay us no attention. We look inside and see people gorging themselves on monster hamburgers or elegant pastas. Eventually someone, on their way out the door, offers us a half a piece of bread. Now, are we going to be thankful for something to eat, or are we going to be bitter that they didn't bring us a four-course meal and a bottle of wine?

The meal's cooking. It probably won't be to everyone's tastes when it's finished, but in the meantime, be grateful that we're at least starting to get noticed.

I'm amazed at the people upset at this information. Granted, these are not are most critical problems, but it's something, isn't it?

Here's my point: would you rather have them fix 3 medium problems or 10 small problems? Keep in mind that if they devote time to fixing those 3 medium problems the 10 small problems will still be around for a while.

Personally I think the approach the DEVs are taking here is the one they have to take - get rid of the stuff that's easiest to fix, so that it's out of the way, and so they can devote time to the larger issues. It doesn't go a long way towards fixing the DE profession, but at least there are a few less things to complain about.

Also, <disclaimer: I didn't read the entire thread> I noticed people referring to these fixes as the "Droid Invasion." It was my understanding that the January patch was going to be "Imperial Crackdown" and that the "Droid Invasion" is a separate, future publish. These are just some of the "random" fixes that accompany the monthly patches.
