Thread: Letting the Door hit me on the way out
So long.
It took since July to figure out that this game is work. I am ashamed to admit, I only get to play 5-10 hours a week. And....(embarassed) I bought this game to be DE and then try out playing a Jedi. Insert ("who ever bought this game to be a Jedi or to have fun is an idiot). There should actually be a warning on the box "...40 hours a week a must ..."
It finally dawned on me last night, I told my wife I'm tired and need to get to work early tomorrow. I just need to check my harvestors first. Huh? How about I slop the pigs and milk the cows next. She told me,"wow, that doesn't really sound much like fun". Now usually I just ignore my wife, but it finally struck a chord. This isn't fun. It takes me 30-45 minutes just to check my harvestors, so I can grind to MSDE. Why? So I can make better droids that don't work.
Secondly, my last night on, I was blessed to run into a sweet little 14 year boy, with only a 4 letter word vocabulary. This is the roleplaying that I love. If there were an adult server, sign me up.
Third, boy, I love trying run through Coronet. 20 minutes later, I'm through.
Finally, I was stupid enough to pick DE as my character. Woot! I love making those adv frames, while a CH walks buy and 3 Rancors fall out of his butt.
So long, farewell, Auwiedzen, good night.

That is why I am also a Novice Pistoleer. It gives me time to just play the game and have fun when the grind gets to me. Harvesters, I check them first after I get my resources and make sure they have power and maintance I jam back to my home town and run destroy missions to get pistol xp so in hopes to get my next branch in mypistoleer tree. Plus it gives me a bit of income to compensate for the lack of selling droids...
Have fun...And if it is not fun you can always turn the computer off and walk away its not like anyone is holding a CDEF Pistol too your head and forcing you to play.
wow i feel your pain friend reality has been knocking on my door of late too ..not to knock droid eng but it really doesnt intrest me in the least ..alot like danceing but hey if i ever wanna see jedi i MUST endur this so says the holo ... i used to think EQ was the "king of grinding boredom" with the push to get to he higher decent end game items and encounters ..but holy cow has SWG rewrote the book on makeing you grind things that you dont enjoy and would NEVER have touched if it was all up to exploring what you like in the game.
The ONLY reason im still here isWorld of Warcraft public beta isntstarted yet..im all set for that at the end of this month.so unless i havent unlocked and found that unlike most people i LIKE the jedi ..then ill be turning this off and checking back in after the next expansion to see if they have brought SWG up to par
Its a shame to see so much potential wasted with bugs and bad choices by the devs.. im a real Star wars fan and love online games ..this could have SOO been the end all game.....but they dont seem to under stand getting a jedi should feel like a reward and an accomplishment NOT like your finally done being punished for giveing them 15 bucks a month ...its no wonder the poor people who have endured getting jedi feel a little underwhelmed by it after what they feel they deserve for all there work...

Ok, now I'm really confused. How many entertainer correspondents do we have? I count two in this thread alone.
LOL i see everyone as an entertainer correspondent
When I first started playing the game at launch, I wanted to be a DE. It looked full of wonder and promise. But, I knew I needed to be able to protect myself while gathering resources. So, I picked up carbines and scout. Then, I decided to make myself some bone armor for self protection (remember when you wished you could get bone armor?). So, I gathered those materials since they would help me get novice DE as well. But, after a while, I realized I was having far more fun 'protecting' myself while gathing resources than I could possibly imagine. So, I created a new character that was more combat related. I eventually created the Master Smuggler / Commando. But, I then went back to my roots and started a second account specifically for DE. And, while DE is my second account, it has become the primary purpose account. I use the combat guy primarily to support the MDE. He makes quick and easy money on missions to buy more harvesters and maintain equipment. He also makes the harvester runs to the more dangerous areas. And, when I get tired of sitting in my work area or compiling my lists of onhand resources or traveling to all the planets looking for some rare resourse, my combat guy is there to allow me to break up the monotony of it all. The MDE is my focus right now.
So, if you are finding the work of DE monotonous or just downright tedious sometimes, experiment with some combat stuff. Maybe even start a character on another server. I chose a second account because I really like the PA I'm in. Run missions to get money and just see a different side of things. Buy some harvesters and gather your resources while you 'walk the wild side' for a while. Gather them for grinding out and for when you hit DE. And, if you should decide that the crafter route is not for you, those resources can sell for a good chunk. The money maker on servers right now is resources. The beutiful part of this game system is you can experiment with different classes very easily.

Doh, looks like they just fixed it. But not before I got a good peek!
Hehe **edit**, anything to share?
I'm going to leave it up to TH and Drashk. From what I read Drashk is trying to do the right thing against against the odds.
I will say that TH needs to share the details of the plan with us NOW. It's better to swallow the bitter pill sooner than later.

I'd put forth that it's better that they listen to us very carefully and not give us a bitter pill to swallow AT ALL.
I fear that, per their past attempts at listening and doing the right thing, that the will fail to do so.
I fear that a lot of the things we've sad we do NOT want, they will end up doing.
Anyone remember how well the whole "we know better" thing went with the CH profession?
