Please just stop the moaning and hating this is a game for people to have fun not get stress. Just good to a pycholigist and get this worked out if need be. "but this is my job my profession" you tell them and they'll slap you around a few times and tell you "if your not having any fun doing what you doing now try something else thats less stressful." Good advice but if this is what you want to do then please do it with good grace. I'm just getting tired of hearing90% of thepeople in the profession flame about everything they don't like and in some cases that seems to be every thing. Chill!! Ok I'm done ranting Begin the flame now.

Actually, no flames matey. I'm with you on this. In fact, read my forum signature.

Time for us to stop complaining, lighten up, and provide a broad grinning DE face to the Devs when we speak.

1. If you feel the enviornment on the boards is too negative perhaps you could try to contribute positively instead of posting negatively as you have here.

2. If you are having fun with the profession the opinions of other people should not matter to you.

But I do like seeing and increase of positive talk about what new things are coming out for this profession.

Then do so.

Unfortunately, many of us don't see much positive to talk about when it comes to the "new things coming out". I'm too honest to pretend that the changes will fix the core problems of the profession which are seemingly still ignored. I think that just about every one of us would have done without this whole combat thing if it meant they would fix the 40+ bugs we have had since launch. Is it REALLY that hard to let us name a talking droid? That is one of THE most requested things I get from customers - a name may not sound like much, but when people barely have a use for most droids anyway and they just want a "pal" to follow them around, it really does.

Please, I beg of you - tell us how our customers are going to be amazed, how people who have no use for droids now will suddenly be on our doorstep, and how we are getting what we have been waiting for.

As optimistic as I have tried to be about things like the "Blastomech", it EXPRESSLY goes against the communities wishes that blasters not be duct taped to a R-series unit. It's almost as if it's a joke - they are trying to do the polar opposite of what we said we wanted. This keeps happening - we said combat modules in service droids was undesirable, as was the "Droid Handler" profession, yet we were told we wanted both.

And why does it matter what we want? Because in every interview someone gives about SWG, or post on these boards, the Dev team and their representatives talk about how they want an open community, and how they listen intently and incorporate what we want into the game. If they come and say, "Sorry, this is how it is - deal with it" the situation would be different, but for now while they still espouse to listen to their community we should act like what we say matters (even if up until now we feel that it hasn't).

These are the reasons you find people being so upset. If you have things to share that will change this perception that the majority of DE's posting seem to have, I implore you again - please share it. Yes, we are getting stimpacks (six months late), and the Probot seems slightly un-nerfed. But that is NOT the Droid Invasion that the 300K people who play SWG and aren't DE's are expecting next week

Personally, I'm most upset that on the day of the patch I'll have my MDE title off and AFK on, simply because I don't want to be the one to break the news. I'll make some of these new Probots, put them on my vendors, and that will be it.

That makes me sad, when our big fix is here and on the day it is published I'll be too ashamed to wear my MDE hat. I want more than anything to wear it proudly, but I just know what players expect. I have been an MDE since July, and I think I have a pretty firm grasp on what the general public feels about droids and what they are expecting. All they've heard about is a "droid invasion" - and don't realize that they majority of the changes are under-the-hood and aren't going to change the end-user experience; again, the stimpacks will be something, but to hang a whole patch on them is a mistake.

Finally, no one is trying to bring you down. If you are happy, say so - if I see a film in the theater and enjoy it a great deal, but I read a bad review of the picture the next day in the paper it doesn't change my enjoyment of the film in the first place. I think, "Wow, glad I like it, too bad for them." If you are happy about Droid Engineering, as it stands, then by all means speak and contribute and start threads telling us so. But starting a thread that just complains about complaining isn't helping anyone.

Shade, you have been master DE for how long now? A month and change? Seems to me that alot of the people that you see "complaining" about the profession are people who have been MDE for at least 6-8 months. They "complain" because they have heard all the promises time and again and yet nothing has changed. I made MDE in late September or October(can't remember) and learned very quickly that it was easier to take down the title and become unsearchable than to explain over and over again that droids don't actually do anything(Adv R2 Med/craft droid aside). I am not here to flame you. I just think that with a little more experience under your belt you might find that your perspective on this subject may change.

I'm just tired of the ranting flames I keep reading every where I look on this board. And yes I do add the possitve opinun every now and then I just don't know why every thing I see has to be taken like it effected RL?

Because DE, unlike most other professions, attracts the most IT people, computer geeks and masochists (by percentage). We do most of the stuff in RL that we do as DEs, minus a set of wheels, silver dome, and beeping noises. So the lines tend to blur

Duely noted.... now please proceed to the other 40+ forums to "spread the gospel".

Erk didn't finish. I like this profession and the things coming out for it I would like to see more up beat talk and suggestions then all the the depressing things I keep seeing people write. And it's not every one but a good number that is very loud about their opinuns for what should and shouldn't be in the game. "craft this don't craft that. combat is not part of this game of this profession." and on and on and on it goes. But I do like seeing and increase of positive talk about what new things are coming out for this profession. No I'm not a pure crafter I couldn't stand just doing that day in day out in this game I find greate enjoyment in the other aspects of this game and seeking out new things that I wouldn't find if I didn't look and see what there is to have.

Best as I'm aware, post count doesn't get you any closer to the Edit button.
