Heya, DEs (and non-DEs too)...

This sticky holds the 'hot' thread links for the upcoming Publish 8 topics.

For now, I'll keep this to the Focus threads for new modules and the TC reports/discussion thread but I'm sure I'll add more later.

Enjoy!

Hi -

I've seen very little info on the survey droids. Can anyone post the resources it needs and what it has been observed to do? Also, out of the new modules, which are stackable?

I'll be trying to post a Focus thread later tonight that has the 'skinny' I've collected so far on this.

Yes, there's some rares needed for it (and I don't yet have them on TC).

There may also be a bug with crafting this but I haven't been able to make it happen personally (due to not having all the resources yet).

I have been checking on the survey droid info (or lack thereof) on these boards many times a day since it went to TC. I would hope, that the people on TC, would try and make sure ANY correspondent has the materials or items or help they need in order to test stuff, because it cannot be tested if it uses a material people there have but hasn't spawned since the correspondent has been on there, or that did spawn but he didn't know he needed it til the patch. A couple hundred of a resource even the rarest most expensive resource If I was on TC (which I am sometimes, but xtremely hard to grind when you know nobody, and I've tried to get to know people and became part of things and it's kinda hard) I would give up and more, to any correspondent. Maybe no one has any. It's not a matter of begging resources, it's a matter of, patches are only on TC a certain time before going live, and if something can't be tested due to the correspondent doesn't have the resources, that shortchanges the whole profession and in this case, most crafters who are interested in this droid (ie, if it doesn't get tested for very long).

Anyway, I can log my character on and help if you like butn ot sure what I can do to help.

For any DE's who HAVE been able to make the survey droid, and then deploy it, PLEASE let us know how it works what it reports back, etc! AT this point we have been told a few have been able to makethem, while some DE's can't it's buggy. If no one has been able to make one, we need to know that, and if some have been able to make but they won't deploy, we need to know that too. If they deploy, but don't do their job, again, necessary to know. If they deploy, and DO do their job, we need to know what they report back, how they work, etc.

Sorry, not trying to tell ANYONE who's testing them on TC that they aren't testing them fast enough for me or us. It's just, two days into the patch, and not knowing one thing about them, it would be good to know if that's cause they are so bugged they don't work, or resource is so rare only one person on TC has any, or what. Hopefully if the latter is the case, the devs can create some of the last spawn of that resource for the correspondent to test it out cause while it's only a couple days into the patch, if this patch is going live in 2 weeks from going to TC, that's already 10% of the testing time gone.

Hmm, I guess I dropped DE in the wrong time... I let it go about a week ago. Well, at least I can contact my old friends to get some of the new neat stuff.

Respectfully,

I would like to proudly announce that i have been able to craft this survey droid - and have gotten as far as to launch the sucker!

/cheer!

Ok - here are all the juicy details that a ton of people have been asking for - mind you that even after all the trickery that i went through to get it as far as i did - it still did not work right in the end.

First - we do get an error upon crafting - but Imap was kind enough to let me in on a tidbit that if you use the /nextCraftingStage, /createPrototype commands, you can still get a finished product out of it. Which i didn and it was succcessful (Thank you Imap!!)

The problem is that when you do craft the droid - its unusable. you double click it and use the "Use" option in your radial menu and it just sits there. I was a tad bit mad at the whole thing - so i went and placed it in my house. I went to examine it and found that the use option was on the droid! I was curious so i used it - and wham, the planet list was there!

It allowed me to choose any planet (including naboo, the planet i was standing on). Once i selected a planet - it then gave me the choices to chooseA TOOLto survey with: mineral, gas, chemical, and wind i believe were my options. Evidently - it takes a survey tool with it on its adventure to the new planet, and those were the tools i had in my inventory at the time (more were in the backpack - but were not selectable). I have not confirmed that it took my tool physically and not returned it - i will get back to you when i do find out specifics on that. The fact that you had to use the tool is an afterthought while viewing my screenshots.

Upon selecting one of them to survey - it disapeared.

Now - these are full droids - not modules and are one time use (one crafting will produce one survey droid - its not like the Bounty Hunter droids that come in stacks of 5 and 10)

about 20-30 minutes later (it was a very long time) - i recieved an e-mail from the droid - describing where it went and what it was surveying.

BUT here is the clincher - the e-mail was blank other then mentioning that it came from the survey droid. The body was one line and there were no waypoint attached to it.

So the big questions are still not answered - but speculation can be a bit more precice now and discussion can have something to stand on - which it hasnt had up till now that i have seen... lol

I will make a second thread for this until TK makes his own to focus.

Ack - this is what I was afraid of... Using my spreadsheet it calculates the selling price to be4.5k each if my normal margins apply (and my stuff sells OK at the prices I charge)... TBH I can't see ppl wanting to spend that on a one use droid.

Thats a basic multiplyer as well - theres also an argument to charge even more due to the Vertex Gemstone (rare) and the EMM's/EGP's.

The Vertex Crystalline Gemstone requirement for some of these modules is disturbing to me. It's appeared a total of only four times since launch on my server according to swgcraft.

I have what I need to make Survey droids but they are being 'naughty' right now and are uncraftable (i.e. a /bug).

It's on the list, so I suspect we'll see a fix pretty quick. You'll get a TON more info then, I'm betting.

We really need that Vertex Crystalline Gemstone and Tolium Reactive Gas showing up on Flurry soon. I found a couple K of the gas on the bazaar, but I've yet to find the gems. I'm sure I'm not the only server with this problem. Please give us the resources we need in order to make our new modules.

hmm.. how interesting.. I just checked SWGcraft.com for Vertex Gemstone in Sunrunner...

No entries listed using search engine.

Why is this interesting? Because I've been mining the hell out of it for the pastthree days (on Naboo)

Total loss of annual revenue (SOE): ~$715US to ~$900US
- Bad press: Priceless
Should Sony and Lucas Arts be worried? (15000 users * 5 accts = ~$13MIL in potential lost gross annual revenue) If I were the CEO for either LA or SOE, I would certainly be worried.
