Thread: Seekers...should we even bother?

Well, I've been looking into the infamous "bottomless seeker" bug this morning and frankly, I'm underwhelmed by the devs response on this. If you look at this thread you can see that they have been aware of this bug since at least November.I especially like the quote from Taurin "Thanks! We'll get right on this.". Here's another one from March where TK says it's supposed to be fixed in publish 7. Let's face it, this bug has survived the two droid publishes and even all the work the devs put into the BHs over the last month or so. It's probably safe to assume that they either aren't interested in fixing it, or it's so far down on their priority list we'll see flying mounts before this gets fixed.

I think one of the reasons we don't see a massive outcry from DEs on this is that, quite frankly, making them sucks. They require too many sub-components and materials (not to mention factory time) for us and the BHs to be able to agree on a good price. They're a pain for us to make and they're bugged as all get out.

So here's my question. Should we just have the devs roll this back so that BHs can purchase these droids directly like they used to? For those of you who are new to the game, BHs used to be able to purchase these droids directly from special vendors for next to nothing. (I think it was 200cr per seeker and 1k per Arakyd, but I'm not sure.)

This gets rid of a big pain in our side, and would probably make the BHs much happier as well. What do you say? Should we just give up on this issue or should we fight?

I actually dont have a problem selling these (in fact its the only droid I regularly sell) maybe I'm just lucky

So either this isnt a widely known exploit or I'm fortunate enough to cater to newbie BH's (because I'm just outside of Mos Eisley)

Still fighting...

I also made a comment using my old blue powers of suggestion about how the Seeker code was being updated for tracking and yet it wasn't being updated for droid usage. I know that if TK wasn't on mini-vacation, he would have made a few of the same comments that I did.

Yes, do bother, as an MBH and a MDE (yes two accounts) the option that does not use up a seeker charge is not worth using timewise on a player jedi. I burn through more seekers now than ever before chasing jedi.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I've ran down about a dozen Jedi on TC2 over the past few days (one was even hiding in the enclave on Yavin IV) and the "Find and Track" option worked great. The only time it failed was when the Jedi was offline. Then it just didn't update and didn't give me any messages until the timer expired. Are you saying that the Jedi are moving faster than the seekers are updating?

If you haven't done so, check out the changes to Seekers on TC2 by creating a Master BH the character creation. Start out a Human on TC2 and name yourself yournameMBH . You will start out with a set or Ris armor, Launcher Pistol, Lighting Cannon, .5 Mil (though there isn't anything to spend it on), a AV-21, 2 Swoops, hawtpants, a backpack, a ton of Seekers and Probe Droids, the usual noob items, did I mention a pair of hawtpants?

I was able to check out BH in person for the first time last night. I even tracked a Jedi. Of course I wasn't able to hunt him properly, since the TEF was bugged, but the droids lead me straight to him. The Seeker updated contiuously for almost 10 minutes, every 30 seconds. The last Seeker that I used placed a WP right on top of my marks position.

Yes, I think this issue should be pursued. the item in question is not working properly. what would the outcry be if all of a sudden chef consumables could be used infinitely? Exploits need to be nailed down when and where they exist. I make and sell Seekers and probes, and I used to be a BH when the direct sales were in place. I don't want to give up a product line simply because it's bugged (good heavens, that'd be almost all our droids at one point or another) or because some people don't like making them.

what? I thought YOU knew how to get the caramilk into the caramilk bar.....

Is the solution so far than just to not sell seekers in crates since the Devs have ignored this issue for so long?

Oh and for those who say probe droids isnt worth it, when you do sell out of a run - and if you can sell them at around 4k/stack:

4k x 330 = 1.32 Mil

So it is indeed worth it.

Well i make a decent profit from them and dont want to see it go away. Also, GnomeAd, i know that these are typically one time purchases but its still cash.

I supported you on the BH bug fix thread.

Although I dont make 20k per crate thats amazing that people will buy for that. I had seekers on my vendor for 30 days at 10k per crate and i had to relist at 5k.

You actually make BH droids?

Seriously, I never bothered anyway - such a tiny market with horribly commodified prices. The profit margin isn't worth my headache of endlessly combining crates of Master Artisan parts into factories.

I get asked every few weeks if I do, and i just send the people to the bazaar where they can find people willing to make a crate for 6K.

Me? I don't open my crafting tool for under 75K.

I am up in the air about these. I have only done 1 factory run of each, and a good DE friend who canceled his account, but gave me his stock of BH droids. He didn't sell many either. I am constantly relisting these things, along with those silly repair kits. I will say every now and then I sell some. I have evengotten a few emails minutes after they fell off my vendor. But I do think that some DEs in my galaxy are selling them and making money off of them, just not me.

I don't really think very many people make a whole lot of money off of them. They might make a little money in the end, but for just about any Master DE they simply are not cost effective to produce because on the whole they are priced well below our normal rates, require components we already have a hard time keeping enough of (storage wise, at least), and although there are sure some nice BH's out there, it seems like many BH's resent having to buy them - though at this point most BH's don't remember that they used to come off NPC vendors so thankfully that is winding down.

Now repair kits, I sell like hotcakes - I go through a full factory run of 1K (or, 999) every three or four weeks. But that's also because I run a heavilly combat-droid oriented business.
