I have read some topics about how to use ur free branch unlocks. I am at the old man stage waiting on the siths to attack and i DID unlock in pub 9. So i get my 6 free and i was wondering how exactly i put it in again. Some guy said it would take 10 weeks to do it. Others did it in 2 hours. I know that i must do 1 branch at a time to not lose exp, but how exactly should i put it in again. I want to get Melee speed, Melee accuracy, Melee Def, Ranged Def, Survival and Persuasion branch. so can someone step by step explain. thanks again in advance.

Ok I might have been seeing things lastnight but can someone please explain this to me.
I pulled out my lvl 5 astromech droid and deleted the chips from memory as I wanted to program my lvl 6 droid and did not want wasted space.
So I go to program my lvl 6 droid and I program it in my datapad with no chips in my inventory, call it look in it's datapad there are 5 chips in there. I did not have any on me but have managed to magic up 5.
I looked at the notes but can't see where they say Chips will not be needed any more, I thought you had to have chips still to do this?

Yea theychanged chips this last patch. You no longer need chips for programs that you know.

Sounds like a "free checker" to me.

It think it's more like a checker piecetaken from the DE side of the board. No free checkers, unless you take 'em from DEs!

Yea...
Anyone aware of this being a big gripe by pilots?
Is that what started this?

I read it as he was able to program his Droid without chips at all.
TK, want to know what I think? Heh well your going to anyway.... neener neener.
I think that this "new" system is how the intended JTL to launch. Yet they didn't have time to code it in, so we got stuck with the system that we had for the last month.
Meaning that the nice chip sales that we were excited about was not intended at all, merely a side effect of them not having coding time.
What's even worse is as much as people (me) griped about how JTL from a crafting point of view was implemented, how we felt shortchanged. If my theory on this is true it was actually INTENDED to be worse, like it is now.
All I can ask is why?

You might be right Straker, but on the other Hand it could be the DE's own "fault".....
They intended to make it possible to play JtLS without doing much on the ground... and at the start you dont have much money, but to see every aspect of flying you might want to use droid commands....
So they impemented the chips with that low ressource needs so that they can grab some and get going... but then we said "No Way" and charged 5-10k per Chip...
BTW:
Edited my last post ^^

You might well be correct....though I kind of doubt it.

I think this was done to appease the number of pilots out there that may have been displeased with the system. They didn't like having to buy new chips to fill up a new droid / FC.
And.....as for why? It's a numbers game.
Think about the number of pilots in the game then think about the number of MDEs.
That's all the "why" you need right there.
Changes are generally made to make the most people happy possible.
I submit that if this change stands, the DE community simply needs to jack up its pricing to reflect this change. That's the only real weapon we'd have to combat this situation.

If the Devs wanted chips to be basically given away to newbies (as you kind of suggest), they should have simply put a UDCM dispensor right next to the Space Terminals.
It would have been a lot easier.
As it stands, if this change stands, I foresee that Flight Computers and Astromech prices will go up (perhaps WAY up) to help offset this loss. At least, that's what I'll be pitching to every MDE on Ahazi.

I understand the pricing thought, but think about this. I mastered Pilot on my combatent already. I never cashed in my Credits chips because I wanted to see how much I would make from just flying. It was 1.6 Million. Now something to consider is that I did a lot of my leveling as a guild, so probably only got to loot about 25% of the time. Somebody who hunted alone a lot would have gotten more. Also, this didn't include mission payout awards, those were seperate.
Honestly, I wouldn't have a problem with people needing to "hunt" in space for cash if that was an issue. We all had to do it as noobs in the ground game, money is simply a part of leveling up.
TK, isthat was true, where were all the complaints? I didn't hear or see any.
I charged 1k per chip, or 20k for 25. Yet people were still undercutting me. So I don't think overcharging was an issue.
I would love to raise the prices to compensate forthis, yet as long as there are people who price strictly by CPU this wont work. So instead of JTL being the profit market I hoped it would be, it has been delegated to a "convieniance market," just liek batteries and such. My hope is they buy a regular droid with a better profit margin.
