Thread: Project Droid Engineer new function/module resource 1/3 New polls posted(4)
Add power
Hopper output deliveryto owner
Status monitors(resource shift, current power/maints in harv)
-50 to 100 items in a droid = 1 structure lot (like the starships)
Make a Warehouse that requires a BLL Droid and can store many items per lot required
Binary Load Lifters able to hold more items
-like droid module, A mini factory droid that can make up a factory crate to handmake an item that requires an identical item.
-Use BLL to reduce factory times, do this by making them an option in the schematic like Protocol/Shuttle Port, or make them so they can
-Add a medical droid as an option to the Hospital so that you can have a stim despenser or just to increase automatic heal times when
-Add the Protocol to Merchant Tents for add barking or something
General/anything else
-Have the droids have modifier atributes to each class at Master Level
-Change the radial options in datapad to "call" being option 1.
-Droids that can deliver items or data to another player.
-Give the droids with personality chips a personality. Surely they can at least have some kind of programmed response to different stimuli,
-Droids assisting harvesting
-Change the IPSD to be 2 different droids 1: standard IPSD, 2: finds highest %'s of a specific resource spawn on a planet.
-costume helper droid mods
-configurable colors on entertainer mods
-Dancing jawa without jawa or with other critters
-Playback mods working on yacht
-Entertainer mod allowing them to use skills outside w/out camp (ala med mod)

Artisan: module to improve droid surveying
Marksman: Damage, speed or accuracy(via drones/spotters) powerups to attacks...and is possibly a loot component.....hehe also not far off my original suggestion ...he expresses a great deal of doubt devs would consider letting droids serve such a function, hopefully we can sneak in on the combat bal..upgrade for such a thing.
Merchant: Doc said as youd guess #1 is portable vendor droid, mentioned that there was some discussion about linking a vendor to a droid as a form of extension to the vendor(this hadnt been addressed to aNO previously) Also a portable vendor interface, not to retrieve items, that would allow manipulation of whats for sale and allow removing things from sale or stockroom to for sale...in addition to showing status items like mantainance.
Smuggler: Ability to slice the droids stats, modules and effects. Modification of the storage module to not be able to handle contraband materials, except for smuggler modified storage modules(which would be smuggler usable only....most of this seems more geared towards...dare i say modularity )
Doctors: The corr wants to see the ability to heal wounds/buff anywhere go away...not sure about this from point of view of doc community. Lets see what else a greater boost then 10% to wound healing/injury treatment and/or modules to affect more then just these 2 medical skills. Also requested a change to the stim dispensor effect allowing the Doc/medic to tell/vommand the droid to heal someone not just have the person request assistance.

What I mean to say is....these are all good ideas. However...
If there's need to be filled for profession utility modules, those ideas should really be coming from the profession in question. We shouldn't be trying to dictate what droid users get...we need to hear the feedback they give us on what would help them.

Respectfully,
oopps forget to say also....my ideas my very well turn out to be terrible for what ever reason i am just trying to get some nuts and bolts solid ideas on ways for DE's to be needed by the larger bulk of the economy ...this problem with having a lack of purpose to the larger part of the economy has always been on my top 2 of problems with DE...

So without further ado Vilance's DE "Need" Proposal: (pass 1)
Each profession should have a "need" of a droid whether its some passive function or its a directed ability of a droid here are a list of all professions and beside it a list of functions that in a droid would be highly desirable in a droid for these professions:
General ideas:
Crafters: In one singular regard all the listed below professions have 1 thing in common, they all can craft. For most of them experimentation is a critical thing. What chef and tailor have gotten i suggest DE's get as well the ability to make module that boost crafting experimentation and assembly. A small boost under 10% would be helpful and make people want to use our droids for crafting. As it stands now only ppl in public places or a hurry use our droids for crafting add this in and everyone will.
The balance of crafted items is a delicate thing especially for weapons, armor and buffs. Half of the reason for the CU/R/B is that...well, crafters got too good.
Identical Crafting/Factory function via hand crafting:What makes grinding a profession so painful for newbsin swg is the fact that there is no motivation to keep what you grind with. One such reason is that the resulting crafted items dont stack. A good module DE's could make would be a schematic holder/factory type. A crafter would make a schematic and load it into the droid from there they would access they're crafting tool and select to craft that schematic specifically. All the same resources would be required and the items made with that schem would all have the same serial number. In addition items made from it would go into a crate. This would be a higly sought after module for grinders and crafters on the go. As it is a very powerful module, it could be weakened in a number of ways ranging from a limited number of uses to having a negative on the crafting assembly or something simple like this would be a special ability of only certain droid types/models.
This has been brought up before. However, it brings to mind a couple questions: 1) Where is the input/output hopper of the "Factory modue"? Is it the player's inventory? what happens if the player's inventory is full? Does the droid get it's own input/output hopper? Could this be used by some for more storage...stressing the database further? 2) Why buy a factory from a architect? It costs maintenance, and a lot. Does a droid keep producing items while stored?
Storage module change/augment to be used as an input hopper for a crafter. Maybe add a module that changes a storage mod to allow it to be accessed as an input hopper or if the craft station type is already in there will do this.
Specific to these profs:
Artisan: A droid function allowing hand surveying resources to go faster/ more efficiently, and or a function to increase surveying ranges and effect.
There was a 19 questions for the developers series going a while back. One of the first artisan questions was "can we increase the surveying range?" The answer given was "no" becuse the systems can't keep track of spawns a certain distance from a player's location. This is also why when traveling on a swoop you can see things spawn sometimes after you've passed them.
Brawler: Weapon sharpening/temp wpn boost kit. Good for all melee people. Also a droid function allowing LE repair and future humanoid types to wield same kind wpns as owner for perk.
Not sure what you mean here, but I can see 2 possible meanings: 1) permenant weapon power up, similar to the problems we have with slicing...now what happens if we have someone who has a super crafted weapon, sliced, power-up'ed, and droid sharpened? We start to tip the balance of weapon power again.
Architect: A function helping architects make wall modules, these are the beasts that kill archy's inventory if they hand craft something.
Items storage modules?
Armorsmith: Cant think of a function espcially for AS.
Bio-engineer: A tissue and dna stacker! wow BE's hate storage space immensly most of they're materials they use do not stack! this means BE's use tons of storage. If droids had a function that allowed BE's to make stacks of tissues/dna samples so theyde have more inventory room they would be forever in DE's debt.
Part of the reason DNA doesn't stack is that each sample is somewhat unique. The same basic forms are the same, but depending on the quality of the sample there might be some variations.
Chef: Serving module: aka r2dr serving drinks on jabba's sail barge. This is a simple module chefs could load food/drinks into a droids storage mod as crates and the droid would hand out those items 1 of each type per person over specific time period. In addition it could be possible to bill them so chefs could get the perk of sales on the go. In addition this effect would allow chefs to decorate the droid with food on display on the carry tray.
It seems to me, this is a variation of the "Vendor droid" idea. It has the same problems assiciated with why we can't have roving vendors as well.
Combat Medic: Cant think of anything right now.
Doctor: Cant think of anything right now.
Medical modules anyone? I can't think of a serious medic that doesn't get one! It's also funny how many folks also want to get these things nerfed to get doctors back into medical centers.
Droid Engineers: Cant think of anything right now.
Entertainers: We already have a very robust and well developed list of modules to help entertainer (crafting bonus's not with standing)
Jedi: LightSaber Construction....in addition to this we could also have our seeker droids be used for saber block drone practive aka luke training with drone and lightsaber. Or we could get a whole new consumable droid there the combat practice drone.
Combat experience with no visibility....I think a lot of jedi would like that. Lets say I have a friends who's a jedi, and I make runs of 1000 of these in my factory...he gets experience from practicing with the droids in his private home, gets to be a knight without ever stepping outside.
Marksman:Ranged wpn dmg/accuracy/speed boost via droid function, good for all ranged.
....again, the weapon balance issue.
Medic: Cant think of anything right now. (put this next to Doctor/CM)
Politician: A support module that allows the politician to access any of the city hall terminals functions via the droid anywhere anytime.
Cool idea! ...I can't see a huge market for this, but it's a cool idea. Maybe we could get it added to the Structure maintenance module (as a free add-on for people who spend the skillpoints in politician).
Scout: Cant think of anything right now.
Smuggler: Slicing boost module, nuff said
*cough* Weapon/Armor balance *cough*
Tailor: Ah here we can get really creative, allow a humanoid droids to get "dressed up" via a tailor so a tailor can show off certain clothing combos on the droid for customers. a very very powerful tool, also could allow coloration changes here via anotehr module so the customer and tailor can get to the desired colors quicker.
*starts thinking about droids wearing a certain garment which I shall not utter* ... *shudder*
(In all seriousness, I'm not sure how the clothing -> droid model would work...we can't get wookies crafter aprons, it might be harder to get droids to wear even a pair of pants.)
Weaponsmith: Cant think of anything right now.
All Ranged elites: Targeting drones/modules: Droid dronesmodule that increase the accuracy/and or powerof long range fire immensly.
All melee types: There is something here i just cant put my finger on what woudl work...beyond the general weapon sharpening/temp boost idea already listed on brawler.
All combat droids: Droid Shield Unit: This would allow a droid to be loaded with a shield unit from an AS or maybe a crate of them and provide the droid with a shield and possibly its owner as well.
JTL has opened my eyes in a number of ways. I really like this concept of buying a droid and feeding it specific programs learned from your profession. If anything, I thinkwe should try to expand on that concept.
Things like: some sort of taunting program or a smoke screen that makes you harder to hit depending on the level of the creature. These arn't direct damage, butmore crowd control statuseffects. Things thatcan tip the battle in your favor, but are not completly unbalancing.

Very true but in the grand schem of things we need products that make us competitive to craftersbeyond just the crafting module...so any ideas of something helpful to crafters that isnt this exactly?

This is just handcrafting that makes an identical crated product.

fair enough i still think enhancements to sample size and sample rates are up for grabs

2- yes this suggestion is a temporary perk to weapons...once again trying to stay competitive to the marketplace, if there is some other mod that can help us help brawlers and wont mimic a powerup im game to see it (maybe will go over better with the devs).
Architect: A function helping architects make wall modules, these are the beasts that kill archy's inventory if they hand craft something.
Items storage modules?
If youve ever made wall modules by hand they are not fun to keep arranged in your inventory so this idea may tie in more to making a droids storage part of a crafters input hopper options.
Bio-engineer: A tissue and dna stacker! wow BE's hate storage space immensly most of they're materials they use do not stack! this means BE's use tons of storage. I know this but that doesnt mean we cannot try to get them better stacking its something that the profession already has high on their demand/gripe list.

Im curious what is wrong with a limited loaded roaming vendor?
Combat Medic: Cant think of anything right now.
Doctor: Cant think of anything right now.
Medical modules anyone? I can't think of a serious medic that doesn't get one! It's also funny how many folks also want to get these things nerfed to get doctors back into medical centers.
Med mods are fine i cant think of anything new, they already got stim dispensors.
Lets say I have a friends who's a jedi, and I make runs of 1000 of these in my factory...he gets experience from practicing with the droids in his private home, gets to be a knight without ever stepping outside.
while i doubt soe would let someone get that far in the trees with a perk like that i think these would be a good way for jedi to augment there xp with not as much danger.
Marksman:Ranged wpn dmg/accuracy/speed boost via droid function, good for all ranged.
....again, the weapon balance issue.
well since the balance errr i mean combat upgrade is coming might we not want to get our share of this possible market now?
Politician: A support module that allows the politician to access any of the city hall terminals functions via the droid anywhere anytime.
Cool idea! ...I can't see a huge market for this, but it's a cool idea. Maybe we could get it added to the Structure maintenance module (as a free add-on for people who spend the skillpoints in politician)
Ah yeah that would be a nice way to not make a new mod but still make mayors happy.
Scout: Cant think of anything right now.
Smuggler: Slicing boost module, nuff said
*cough* Weapon/Armor balance *cough*
here is a cough drop, we need to push now for being considered into the combat balance equation.
Tailor: Ah here we can get really creative, allow a humanoid droids to get "dressed up" via a tailor so a tailor can show off certain clothing combos on the droid for customers. a very very powerful tool, also could allow coloration changes here via anotehr module so the customer and tailor can get to the desired colors quicker.

ok so this might encourage ppls less then healthy side in a few odd cases but overall this style of module was suggested to me also by the tailor correspondent except they suggested a holographic interface....seems plausable espcially given that the hologram would just be a translucent player toon.

yes that was mentioned on another thread that would be a great consumable...im letting them develop theyre ideas on that there for now then after its ripe ill appropriate it
well things are looking good so far ive talked with 7 or so corr's and they are setting up polls for us! so we can get some real idea pooling going on.
Carbineer:
Poll pending
Tailor: A hologram module that can display outfits and is color changeable. not far off my original suggestion of dress up droid. Also mentioned lack of purpose for the BLL...
poll pending
Artisan: module to improve droid surveying
Poll results pending

Poll pending
Doctors: The corr wants to see the ability to heal wounds/buff anywhere go away...not sure about this from point of view of doc community. Lets see what else a greater boost then 10% to wound healing/injury treatment and/or modules to affect more then just these 2 medical skills. Also requested a change to the stim dispensor effect allowing the Doc/medic to tell/vommand the droid to heal someone not just have the person request assistance.
poll pending
K thats all the corr responses so far and polls have begun for about half, i havent got back word yet on other half starting polls.
