Thread: Does anyone NOT have Master Artisan?

In a thread tonight in the Dev forum (http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Development&message.id=568128) I was attacked in a non-related thread because I mentioned as a DE skill points are hard because although we do not have the prerequisite of being a Master Artisan, because we require such a huge amount of parts that only a MA can produce to makedecent droidsDE's don't have much of a choice.

I'd simply like to know if any DE's, especially Masters, have been able to progress and function by buying these parts from a Master Artisan.

Personally, I haven't even been able to find someone willing to do it, even if I could afford the credits to do so. My prices would easily double if I was buying all of these parts.

To me, this isn't interdependency - it's TOTAL dependency.

I just want confirmation that this is indeed a problem - or that I should just shut-up and stop "/crying".

Thanks,

You and I rarely see eye to eye on anything, but that guy is a friggin moron.

Maybe if you had a master artisan make a bunch of schematics for parts you could factory produce them without needing MA but that would still be incredibly tedious.

I'm going to be forced to retire my Master Artisian status to gain skill points for Master TKA whenever I get around to actually kicking things again. I don't think it will be that bad as I know several Master Artisians that will be keeping their skills and are very willing to share schematics or do a couple factory runs for me when I need them. It's a 'scratch my back and I'll scratch yours sort of thing - maybe people just aren't as cooperative on your server??? I don't know, but I do feel for you.

An idea might be to start a guild - one with every crafting profession represented so that each of you could work together, share factories and harvester resources, etc... If you can find the people, that could very easily be the recipe for success. Just my 2 credits tho.

My thought is that they should have just made Droid Engineer build off Master Artisan instead of Engineering IV. It really is that dependant on MA skills. I have my general crafting experience at the CAP because of how many memory modules I've had to crank out.

I can honestly say I go through about 100 memory modules a week. That's a scary thought.

I'm MA and MDE, but I gladly make schematics/crates of MA components to sell to other DEs, the problem for me is, even selling at cost, no one buys them so I stopped doing it.

n a MA and MDE for a while and yes you prolly need to be a MA to get what you want. is just too much to ask otherMA to make your stuff and they charge so much anyway. But I do wish i dont have to be MA so i can actually train up some combat skill since we dont have a droid that can actually protect us while we tend to our harvestor.

Have you love your DE lately?

I have never been MA and its sucks but I live with it. I just have a MA friend run a few hundred of everything I need, for good pay of course.

Yeah I have MA simply because of the high volume of MA parts we need. There are PA members with MA, but getting them to make a new scematic for me every other day would get old fast. Realistically I'd only be able to drop the DA line anyhow, since I maintain vendors and harvest my own material.

you guys know you can make 1000 of every product from a scematic right? Just stock pile. And have the MA make a scematic for 1000.

I am both a master DE and a master artisan. Despite what some say, it's nearly a requirement. I beleive is some interdependence between classes, but with MA parts, you can't make much of anything that's useful. That goes above and beyond interdependence in my book. I'm reaching a point where I'm getting crunched for skill points and I spent weeks looking at that fiiled artisan skill tree with contempt. All that time and all those skill points wasted just for a handful of items. I contact a few MAs and asked around for prices and they were outrageous and the supply would be inconsistent at best. When I need/want to build a droid, I want to sit down and just do it, not have to hunt all over creation to find an MA with the time, the energy, and the good sense to make reasonably priced and experimented elecronics parts. So, after much debate, I've done exactly what was suggested earlier. I opened a second account and am working that character toward Master Artisan. It's not the most ideal situation and some would probably whine about someone actually doing this, but it's a terrible waste of precious skill points to get master artisan. I do hate that I feel driven to this. Wow, now I can make dough and ruby bliel and a dozen other utterly useless things while sitting around in the ugle clothes I can make. As soon as the second acharacter gets MA, I'm dumping the entire domestics and business lines. I'll keep survey because I mine and sell resources to support myself since the droid business has dropped off considerably (dozens of new novice DEs all with shops around mine who sell r5s with med module 3 for 500 credits kind of does that).

I'm not a MA and I'm getting by just fine... well, I have some extra help. My brother plays the game with me and he's going Architect, so he went MA and I keep him stocked with resources while he churns out crate after crate of the chips and components we both need.

I love it.
