hmm, not sure if this has been suggested, but here goes.

obviously they can't be as powerful as wild droideka because that would be quite unbalancing.

however, what if we could make droideka at master droid engineer, but make a good portion of the required parts consist of equipment from semi-rare random loot drops from wild, non-nym lokian droideka?

obviously not so rare that people would still prefer pets, but rare enough so that not everyone and their grandmother would have one.

From a balance standpoint, I understand this.

From a crafter's standpoint, from an engineer's standpoint, I don't like it. It would make me feel like a medieval European, longing for the lost glories of ancient Rome. I much prefer to be a modern, fully-functional droid engineer, capable of making equal or better product to anything produced in the past. Droideka are (at least) a 30 year old design.

that sounds more like it's from a continuity standpoint than an engineer's standpoint.

givenyour logic, you'd have an interesting time trying to explain, say, high velocity feeders and their applications in weapons, and how you have to obtain them.

What's a high-velocity feeder?

higher quality components looted off (surprise) droideka.

better than weaponsmiths can make, and used in giving a much larger boost to a good deal of ranged weapons.

You're right. I'd have a VERY difficult time justifying that feeble idea. I disagree with it in practice, as well as it's theoretical extension.

How about:

non-nym lokian droideka drops are to DEs and Droids as kryat drops are to Weaponsmiths and weapons.

Use wild droideka parts to augment DE-made droidekas in the crafting process.

It sounds ok, until you factor the mentality of players into it.

As soon as a certain smuggler I know found out he could solo krayt dragons, he spent 4 days farming them... ended up with over 80 krayt components and had to buy a second house just to store them all.

These sort of things lead to a farming mentality and those who can spend all day every day playing the game end up with an insurmountable advantage over everyone else on the server.

I agree with WookieWangler on this. Ive seen many examples of this sort of thing already. There should be another way somehow.

Instead of having the rarity made from random drops, how about making one or more of the parts take over 1 day to make in a factory? So, assuming you have only one factory, you wouldn't be able to make more than 1 per day. That would keep the population/commonality down. And also make them very expensive considering the time it takes to make one. And then even if you did have multible factories, the limitations would still keep the population down.

na i cant use my gurrek next patch and i don't even care. i just hate camping, i had to do it in every single mmorpg i have played and it just sucks. the idea of having to do something for it is fine but how are u suppose to take out droidekas as a DE anyways? gather people together right? then we have to maybe pull missions or find them in the wild. and i'll bet i'm not the only one who would want it in the group, now there will be a loot order and line, and we don't know how often they will drop the parts..... it could go on and on and on...... and maybe finally i do get it and get all excited to try it out. it will be 2-3 shot by a commando saying "n00b" to my corpse. do u get my picture here? i don't mind it getting 3 shotted by any class but if i have to go thru all that trouble for that result then it's just plain moronic. this ain't EQ man, and i don't want it to be.
