Thread: Hey did you guys catch this in the patch notes?
Quote from patch notes:
REMOVED RESTRICTION PREVENTING FACTION PERK PETS FROM ENGAGING UNDECLARED TARGETS (so they can again/still).
So all non-CHs are going to be limited toONE pet out at a time, and players will now be able to use faction pets (rebels 5500 HAM soldiers; imperials AT-STs...nuff said) against non-factional targets again.
Question: If all players can have a 5500 HAM faction pet (usuable against everything), and have to choose between that and a droid with 40 to 800 HAM, who the hell is ever going to use a droid?
At least with the factional limits (ignoring creatures for a moment), factional pets had their niche against factional targets, probots courld be used for all others.
Now, Devs would have to give player a droid with at least a comparable amount of HAM to make them appealing, and we have seen from the pre-nerf probot debacle that they are not willing to do this.
Be afraid. Be very afraid...
This change + one-pet-per-person nerf = definite that no one will ever use probots = dead droid engineers.
I saw that... wasn't sure whether it applied to ATST's or not. They're kinda a special case.
I'm OK with my StormCommando being able to be my bodyguard while overt. I pay for the extra power with PvP vulnerability. But while covert, I still have to use my Probot.
You also have to remember that that requires you to join a faction. Most of the non-pvp people (who are generally the ones wanting probots) dont' join factions or, if they do, spend most of the time covert, when they can't use the faction perks. Also, faction pets are still perma-death, so if your not sure how things will go it is better to use the probot.

If you look at the stats on Factioned players, 76% are still neutral. Those are the targets for probots but if they make probots or a combat droid more attractive Ham and Dmg then we'd probably get some factioned players too. The more pets you can have out when Overt the better hehe.

Yep. That's why as much as I like it, I don't think the multiple droid thang is gonna fly. I'd love to have three roger-rodger droids following me -- even in place of a droideka on occasion! But seems the Devs are going the other way.
On the other hand, or CH brothers must feel smug.
Perhaps DEs should get multiple pets too -- that certainly would be a badge of our droid engineer-ness.

How is that we get even MORE gimpy as time goes by? See, thats what I mean folks. We need some MEAN, PIPE-HITTING DROIDEKAS UP IN THIS PIECE. Not saying crap! No roger-roger this or roger roger that. Just cold, hard steel shining behind the glimmer of the a shield deflector. And I know just the armorsmith to make that shield The Best.
The sad thing is, until we get better droids, I'm putting my probot away when I go out to the harvs if we only get one pet. Ugh!

Dude, this is on Test, it's not live.
Dude, what the hell is wrong with you? When was the last time the devs ever un-implemented something they had on test?
Dude, if we don't object don't you think devs will go ahead and implement it on the live servers.?
Dude, if you can't see the ramifactions of this change, stop posting here. I don't have time to educate you.

You don't think people are going to join factions to replace their now nerfed creature pets?
You think they are going to just settle for a 800 HAM droid?
More importantly did you catch this?

Nothing is changing, Dark.
It's NEVER been that way on live servers, apparently it was temporarily so on test.
It just means that that "test" will never make it to live.

The way I understood it, these patch notes are for the big patch coming soon, like within the next week. So at this moment everything in those notes has been on test already and we will soon see it all live.
Dude, don't be an ass. The guy posted a legitimate point and no one needs or wants to be educated by you. He did not in any way insult you and you have no right to insult him in turn. What's wrong with you?
Seriously, only about 24% of players are factionally aligned (check the profession stratics). Even then, not all use faction pets (there are plenty of factioanlly aligned crafter without the combat skills necessary the grind the faction points necessary to obtain perma-death faction pets). This is a concern, but it does not in any way warrant the "dead droid engineers" comment.
Factions pets usable in PvE is ridiculous though. I think, if I were an Imperial General somehwere, I'd be really angry that some yahoo was out wasting the Empire's resources by having an AT-ST gunning down animals on Dantooine. It's just silly.
We need better combat droids and we need them soon.
