Thread: Is being a Droid Engineer worth it?

I see alot of complaints about how the droids pretty much stink. I was planning on going into this profession, but I am having my doubts. Do you (the ones who have taken the profession on) believe that being a Droid Engineer with be meaningful and rewarding in this game? How do the droids you create fit in to SWG as a whole?

Being a droid engineer might be meaningful but won't be rewarding. If you like to tinker and play around with droids, you might find it interesting. If your looking to make money, well better go be a weapon or armor smith or an architect while the demand for housing last. Except for a mouse droid with a crafting station module or the probot/probot adv, droids serve no useful purpose in SWG. Droid engineers will be making money as FEDEX employees, not as droid crafters.

Look at the date on this post and read the messages. This is probably the saddest thing I've seen here in quite some time. This message and response could have been written today.

Just shows how much our profession has changed in SEVEN MONTHS. Not a single bit and still won't change for the better for some time.

He is busy doing the Droid Master profession which should be fairly easy for him now that he has helped do the CH profession.

What DE Dev are you talking about? We have none.

Ouch! So sad.

Isn't it great that SWG is making so much progress and many exciting changes.

The worst part of it is, I don't believe that they will ever really get droids right.

At the time he wrote this (nice necro-post, by the way), I would have said...

"That depends on your definition of 'it'....as well as your definition of 'worth'."

not self rewarding or profitable.. you will craft one of each and see that there is no experimentation value. The droids serve little purpose and now the DE title brings you pitty. Nothing works or distinguishes droid creator a from b.

if frustration is what you like get into DE

So the question on my mind is did you become a DE and was it worth it?

My main character is 0/0/0/0 doctor. The average weeklyincome from his stim b sales (which pale in comparison to what a master doc can whip up) is nearly 12.24 X MORE than the income my alt brings in through droid/droid comp sales. Granted, the need for stims far outweigh the need for droids (stims are disposable, droids [with the exception of arakyds/seekers] are not), but <sigh>.

That's sad, but I enjoy being a DE *shrug*.
