"Jawas in their phat desert cruiser pull up to some poor farmers house in the middle of tatooine*

"JIBBADIBBAWTFEVERTHREYSAY " Says a Jawa...

" Yeah I'll take these 2 droids!" says the poor farmer as he points to the 2 droids.

“POW!” one droid fries out before the trade was made. Probably due to the decay. “Uh… On second thought I’ll just take this one” as he points to C3PO and R2D2.

So the poor stupid farmers bought 2 more droids. And was happily ever after…until the imperial army destroyed his farm. (yay go imps)

"Jawas in their phat desert cruiser pull up to some poor farmers house in the middle of tatooine*

"JIBBADIBBAWTFEVERTHREYSAY " Says a Jawa...

“JIBBAJABBALALALA” questions a Jawa.

“Uh.. No I don’t have the certs for them” replies the Farmer noticing a loss in his farm production because he doesn’t have certs for them.

“LIBBADIBBANOOBSTFUTHEN” laughs a Jawa and drives off… the farmer sighs and kicks the dirt and he find himself sh*t outta luck because he has no certs for handling creatures either.

The point i'm trying to get across is that, having certifications for droid is idiocy. If I want to use a droid. I program it to OBEY. This is the difference between CH’s and “ DH’s “. Droid have no animal instinct, they are programmed to obey who they’re master is. Therefore, CH’s and they’re pets should be, by all means. More powerful then “ DH’s”. I just dropped CH due to it being so heavily nerfed, but I think that DH/DE idea is stupidity. If you have something programmed to work for you, why do you have to be a “Droid handler?” Is there even such thing as a “Droid handler” in Star wars universe?

MDE’s should have the ability to use a “super droid”, due to their complex knowledge of a Droid. Everyone should be able to use any droid they want. As long as the droid is programmed that Your Its Master.

I believe that DE is a crafting profession, and it should stay that way. Just let everyone use the droid they want, because even the Hero in KOTOR can use a super combat droid (HK47 i think his name was, “Die meat bags!!” ^_^ ). And Jedi’s have NO CERTS in ANYTHING in SWG, except light sabers.

I think TH and SOE lost sight of making a game fun, and starting looking towards the “lets nerf everything in a fatal attempt to balance the game”.

devs wont ruin the game or remove DEs just to make something abit realistic in starwarsy view.

its a fiction world at a fiction time, and its a game. anyone noticed that u can take 5 blaster shots and run around happylie beeing healid in a minute or by a doctor shoting health at u? or that u die and are cloned unlimited times? should the devs take it out to make the game more starwarsy? if ur shot in game SOE sends someone to ur home to shoot u to make it realistic?...

realism and starwarsy are sidearguments they come in when the fit, but in first points fun counts for the players and players count for SOE as they will do what brings them money.

Yes, fun is fun. No one wants to grind a stupid a$s "Droid handling" profession to use a few nerfed droids.

Sorry you don't like it, but uh... tough. If you want all droids available to anyone, there will never be droids above CL10. If you give everyone the ability to use tricked out droideka, so much of the entire profession system would decay and become null 'n' void.

I'm sure some TK's would like another 100 base damage, but they won't get it.

I'm sure some CH would like another 50 CL levels, but they won't get it.

I'm sure some Armorsmiths would like to make Manadalorian, but they won't get it.

And I'm sure you would like extremely powerful droids available to all, but you won't get it.

Starwarsy or not, this is first and foremost a game. As such, there DOES need to be balance. And whether or not you respect that fact is irrelevant. That is just the way it is, fact.

Let take a quick look back to ESB.

Luke: No R2 you stay there,

R2: Beep

Luke jump into the swamp and swims to shore

Panning back to R2 we now see the cute little droid removing him self from the X-wing and quickly falling into the swamp.

I guess Luke's Droid CL was to low

Heh heh... funny

But R2 and 3PO didn't beat the crap out of anyone... well R2 did zap Jabba's little buddy, but no those droids weren't for combat...

If you want to lay the smack down on a Rancor, or some Nightsisters, or even someriverside mynocks you need to spend a few skill pointsanda great deal of exp to use some uber droid...

Some droids need to be universal (aka droids that exist now)! I think the current probot needs to be buffed up, but still remain a universal droid... (universal = lvl 10 droid = newbie can use)

The point i think that everyone is missing... EVERYONE and their brother wants to use combat droids! Most will drop a profession to use droids, but NOT everyone will... If i want to remain a Master Commando, Master smuggler, I don't care about droids... I can kill way faster than a droid can...

If i am a Master CH... I would rather use my pets with 12k HAM and can be healed by anyone... and eventually armorsmiths might be able to armor my pet... Making them the ultimate Meat shield...

I think DH will work for now... but it needs to be refined over the next few months... once everyone gets to play with it for a while...

But one thing needs to be assured... If a droideka goes up against a kimogilla or a kryat dragon... um i don't think heavy armor and heavy shields will protect it from getting stepped on...

Droids need to be more powerful than pets against "Human"/NPC/droid targets...

Pets need to be more powerful than droids against animal targets!

Maybe add a new combat modifer to affect this... pets get bonus to creature combat and negitave stat against droids/NPCs, droids get bonus to NPC/droid combat and negitave stats against animals. This will let the animals fight the animals and the droids fight the NPC/droids...

Sounds interesting to me... If you are GCW you want to use droids... if you want to hunt you want to be CH... now either will work... but one will be slightly better than the other...

Yes, I agree that everyone shouldnt be able to use an "uber droid". But I don't thinka DH profession is nessesary, Why not make a quest where you can get your Droid Class X certification, that way its fun, and if you NEED to give something else, you can use like 5sp total to get your uber droid.

I know there is a difference between the two, but doe there nessesarily have to be a difference? Thats why a quest would be great !

If you make it via quest, it's no different. Instead of everyone with an uber droid, you'll have everyone who has 30 minutes to do a quest with an uber droid. You can make the quest extremely hard, but then non-combat characters will complain. You can make it really complex, but a powergamer will just analyze it to death and make a guide. You can make it require an exceedingly long time, but then everyone will complain because it is boring.

I've said the same thing time and time again...

See, the *only* way everyone would be happy is to allow EVERYONE use of ALL droids.

This would not workby "certification", nor would it with a new Droid Herder profession.

If all present droids and any new Combat Droid CL10 or below is kept the same, any that is 11+ is considered "Dangerous" because it can kill a NewB. Use of these droids raises a from of droid visibility that NPC "Law enforcement" would react upon. You use a droid for killing too much, and you become an outlaw..

THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO SATISFY EVERYONE.

All players can use all droids without certification. All DE's can use all droids they make (this is #1 concern) without wasting points on a new profession.

I just posted something similar to this on Thunderheart's "why did you change your mind's?" post.

What the DH profession is telling Droid Engineers is that, even though we have the technical knowhow to assemble a complex piece of machinery and its brain and give that brain the commands it needs to operate, we're still too stupid in the longrun to figure out where the "on" switch is.

A droid is a programmed machine - it does not take skill to operate it.

You turn it on, and it excutes the commands you give it.

A DH profession is the dumbest idea I've heard.

So how do you as DE justify that to the BE who dont use their own pets without being CH? Is the question other that its you dont care and you want like a spoiled little 3 yo. I dont mean to flame but that is how it comes acrossed.

Sign for Hutt Faction here: Hutt Faction

Not against broad changes, just profession specific ones (read as CH) that go against what we've been told in the past.
