Thread: I know what I might do (on MY server, anyway)...

This is just brainstorming, all....so, please keep that in mind.
I have not planned this out. I've not put it into action. Pure conjecture.
When the DH thing goes live (notice that I didn't say "if"), I am thinking:
1) Prior to it going live, I'd gather all my money's and such and sell like a madman. Basically, get as much money as possible.
2) Buy as much raw resources as possible needed to make droids (and maybe another couple of factories, with about a month's worth of energy for all of them).
3) Make a TON of theseDH combat droid (or droids with installed combat modules), in best possible and most desired configurations. I'd think 600-800 of each would be a good starting off point.
Then...
Give them all away...to any and all DHs (or others) that want them.
That's right Free. 100% gratis. Not one credit.
I have enough cash on hand (and could make enough money from the 'regular' ole droids I DO sell) to keep this up, likely, indefinitely.
After too long, I'm pretty sure that most DEs on my server (Ahazi) would likely just not sell them at all, since they'd all come get them from me (why pay when you get the best for free?!?!?).
And...if you don't believe that I can do this, think again.
I have hundreds and hundreds and HUNDREDS of every part needed to make any/all droids. I'm pretty sure that if they tossed in a few extra parts here or there, it wouldn't matter much, I could build those fast enough (or maybe not).
That'd pretty well end the DE's involvement (on Ahazi) for the DH/DM class. So much for their "solution".
NOTE: The above was an exercise in allegory. If you're unsure what that is (for you non-English-speaking forum readers), it's defined as: "A literary, dramatic or pictoral device in which each literal character, object and event represent symbols illustrating an idea or moral or religious principle."
Anyone else feeling good yet about our future?
Let the Dev team know you don't want this, as loud and as often as you can.

Words too big...HULK SMASH!
Heh, I just say we all refuse to make the new combat droids until all of our old droids are fixed. Lets waste the Dev's time just like they insist on wasting ours.

In a way, I'd agree. However, there will inevitably be one DE that doesn't know about this and will unknowingly break the 'picket line'...even IF DEs are able to get one in place.
That's not the answer (and never has been).
My method guarantees a totally destoyed DH droid market on my server, at least.
Finally.....something I get to "pwn". /sigh

My character on Ahazi can't really do much because his lots I'm sharing with someone else (for similar help on Corbantis).
Can I be Robin to your Batman, TK? .... er... in a purely Allegorical sort of way.

The more, the merrier.
I wonder if they'd think that the DH profession were really such a good idea if they knew that 90% of the DEs would just give them away for free.
That might cause a good bit of economic imbalance that they wouldn't really know how to address.
I hope they reconsider their myopia....

Actually....I could revise this plan now...
Virtanis seems to be on-board with my plan, so if I could get 3 or 4 others, we'd:
- Sell regular, non-DH droids to make money.
- Use money to harvest resources/energy, etc.
- Poll our combined monies and resources to build the best possible DH droids available (in quantities of thousands).
Flood the market with 1000s of free DH droids.
That seems like a workable method of dealing with the proposed future.
What better way to voice your displeasure with myopic system than to help destroy the total market for it (and have fun destabilizing the entire economy at the same time....w00t!)

Maybe, but I put up my "strike" post anyway. I feel that the best way to get our point across is through the statistics they are so fond of putting up on the Main Page. Maybe if I can get just the Starsider people refusing to make the droids it will be enough......

Sorry, man....strikes don't work. In addition, I'm reasonably sure that attempting to incite a working strike might be a bannable offense. Nice, huh?
The oddity here is that implementing MY plan (of crafting and giving away items for free) is 100% legal, in-game. So, there's nothing anyone can do to stop me from making money and spending it philanthropically on ruining the DH droid market.
It bites that I have to consider this...but I have to voice my protest of the decision that appears set-in-stone (if it comes to pass, that is).

as an ahazi DE who is staying one for the moment... this helps me how?
This proves what to who?
I guess, it gets back at any DE whose Pureblood Crafter mentality has taken combat cert for DE's off the table.
I cant see how it would hurt anyone but DEs.
I can see striking and not building them. might last a few days before someone grinds to DE to make them, and gets resources/factory rolling. though we would have to be sneaky and not strike till patch or people will prepare
so, what would be the objective again?

There's no objective. As I said...I love droids. I think others will love them too.

I that everyone should have droids, so I'd like to make it as easy as possible for them to do so.
So, I sell regular droids...I give away any/all DH droids for free.
That way, everyone who wants to have a droid can get one (note: you might pay if you go to another DE but I'll give mine out for free). It's because I care.
