Thread: Auto-Repair Module

The auto-repair module is the least talked about module but I think its quite a handy module. I made some 20 rated auto-repair modules and put 5 ina R3 giving it a 100 auto-reapir rating. I added a 101 combat rated module and tested it out.

4455 HAM

93-99 damage attack

1.52 speed

0.4 to hit

100 auto-repair rating

20% effective armor

Then I tested it on a Male plains tusk cat.

The droid heals 100HAM every 10 seconds while it is in combat and after combat. The droid killed the Tusk cat with 75% HAM left then proceeded to heal itself back 100% in a few minutes.

Not having any combat skills this is a great help to me. The few customers I told about it were very intersted. This would also make a very good low exp taking tank for exp grinders needing that extra something for distraction. Combined with some droid repair kits you are set for that harvestor run.

Wow, I guess I am the only DE to ever build this module or talk about it. Is it a secret ?

No... I made myself a combat R2 with two 20 rated modules and a 329 rating combat cluster. I like him, even if the animation is bugged - he does melee animation while shooting 90 percent of the time. 121-131 damage, though.

I haven't made any of these yet, but fully intend to this weekend. In fact, I was going to perform a test much like what you just did, so thank you for saving me the effort!

I'm wondering if you could make a nigh-invulnerable group of droids using this system. You could have 10 players and 10 droids in a group, and if all 10 of the droids were using melee so that they could heal each other, they'd be healing 100 damage every second. With just a little bit of player backup from Droid Stims, that'd be pretty impressive as a "tanking" force.

I am going to try this out as soon I as get on. Very Interesting. I have been testing out probots for ranged combat.

Um, my R2 is still "Shooting" according to the combat spam, and he stays at a distance with ranged mode ON - he just shows the melee animation. It doesn't matter if the auto-repair is on or off.

Heh, that would be crazy looking-10 R3s all going at one target doing up to 1000 collective damage and healing themselves for 100 per second. Plus the ten ownershitting the target....

I doubt that would be nerfed, really these droids need to be in large groups to be very effective (and if you do get a good sized group they are very effective) and the devs have been trying to encourage grouping.

this auto-repair droid is great, but in a duel with 2 r3 droid, with max armor, 6 combat moduels in 1 and 5 auto-repair and 1 combat module, the combat droid won. We did it 2 times

with out the auto repair on. It was almost a tie. Can you belive it almost a freaky tie. 1 combat module plux 6 module didn't reallly make a big differnce. But the combat droid won in the end.

Next when put the auto-repair on and the combat droid kicked butt. The only reaons is. becase the auto-repair droid would heal itself and the combat droids.

But i have to still test some thigns out. And see what they both do agaisnt mods and wha would be the best tanking droid

Are you saying that the auto-repair module heals an "enemy" droid? I would like to know if the auto-repair vs the combat-only was a duel between two grouped people, two non-grouped people, two people of opposing factions, or what.

That would be very interesting to know. I didn't consider that the module might heal absolutely every droid in the vicinity regardless of TEF or grouping or faction. Not that people use them in PvP really, but theoretically, you don't want an auto-repair module in a droid used in PvP if it heals both your droid and your enemies' droids.

I am excited about this module too, I was simply waiting until I was in a group situation with multiple target droids, in order to use it. I may build an LE with 3 of these installed, and have him shepherd the probots my guildies use.

*logs in for the 17th time today*

Hmm, I think I might have been over-hasty. I made a cheap-and-dirty +20 auto-repair droid and set it off next to a bruised-and-battered combat droid. I couldn't see any difference (going to guess 20 healing per tick is just too low on the R3) and didn't bother to make another while there is still a rush for harvest/combant/entertainers droids.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll try again now
