Thread: A CH speaks on DH

The major point is the relationship and balance you wish to have. The best pet a non-ch can use is CL10.
So this brings about many questions for me, it seems your asking for something along the lines the CH's want: customized droids/pets that would fill some niche for every profession, make your own UBER weapons (we also feel we should be given our great pets back), certs, or a DH profession.

1) Would be nice if this could happen for both professions, No offense i would rather you have your cookie cutter bots and use gain this niche than run missions. We could train pets to drag corpses for medic as an example. But if you mean you want to make Chefs a bot that looks like Grill Master 500 and has a Food/Chem crafting station built in and the person vends outside the Cantina im all for it.
2) The idea of solo professions where you have pre-nerf like rancor-bots running through cities is not gonna fly with SOE (forced grouping mantra). Noone will solo far in any SOE game.
3) This is a slippery slope to the CH profession because if you say people can dabble in bot control, then you have to reinstate CH or just hand them pets as well without any training in CH. Then you can just say let people only have one out as long as the are CL certed. Pets/Droids/Faction. Trust me this will hurt your market in the long run.
4) the DH profession to me is more likely. One it gives you a ready made market. Trust me wild pets are ok. If i want to solo missions again sooner or later i must visit a BE. I must visit for vit packs and stim packs. Tame shirts are a must.

Maybe if someone could rationally and calmy show me the finer point i may be missing im open to listen. I want to appendix that none of this means i dont empathize with the current state of DE but if SOE is willing to give you something i would jump on it ask for changes later if it seems its not working out. Devs avoid our forum because their fix for us was a nerf. We are back to last on the list. I am not saying you dont deserved fixed. But i will say be lucky you still have a market for anything. As a CH the only tells i get now are can you train me or my pet, not do you have creature X?

Ok you want to know the reason for us all to be up in arms. It is simple:

Droid Engineers want a fix for US, not some new profession.

Oh I wish they would put in an edit button some days.

The reason we wanted a fix is because the majority of the droids we make are nothing more then Surgical droids. The only droids that I even bother making are Surgical droids with level 6 med mods and a Food/Chem crafting station, Seekers, and Arakyd probots.

No one wants a R2/R3 with a worthless Storage/Data module in it. LE repair bots don't work even if you put a repair module in it. Power Droids won't work unless you have a backpack full of battery crates. Oh and did you hear they are finnally going to put a General module in to a Binar load lifter. Wow, now it is just a useless as all of the other junk droids that no one wants.

Thunderheart and the rest of the programmingfolks think that the only reason for this game is to provide a DOOM/Unreal game in a Star Warsie universe. Some of us could give a flying flip about the GCW, Me I'm trying to earn a living so that me, my friends, and guild mates can go on a hunt, take down a few creatures on Dant and in general enjoy a great night of hunting.

Unfortunately, I have to rely on my brother who is an architech to help me out with maintainance on my house and harvesters, because I sell only batteries and the occasional Surgical Droid.

What I would like to see is that combat droids are a work in progress have the dev team work on that problem and get back on the real problem. FIX THE DROID ENGINEERING PROFESSION

What he said. We don't oppose it because we want the uber-combat DE killer-droid-wielding-mania, it is because what we definately not want is:

become mechanical clones of the BE/CH profession with different looking pets.

LOL.

OK so you dont want CL11 and above combat droids. You just want LE Repair and power droids fixed. I have not clue what the use is for a Binary Lifter.

Not to be rude to CH, but:

Creature handlers should stop whining. I can not name my spat, I can not teach it commands. HECK! I have to be a master CH just to put a darn saddle on my ride...HOW SMART DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO CLIP A FEW PIECES OF LEATHER TOGETHER? lol.

So, rather than do it myself, I must pay a CH to train my pet, mount my pet...pay him/her ungodly amounts of money for them to not sacrifice any resources, any real time or effort just to have my pet named Bob and know how to follow me to grandma's house!

CH profession is blown way out of proportion on this game. Everyone is worried about undermining them, when the rest of us have been undermined since the conception of the CH class. It follows gaming though...Every game you come across with pets like creatures in them, that is the class everyone wants. That is the class that overpowers everyone else. That is the class that makes the game no fun for anyone but them.

Personally I get sick real quick of being grouped with CH who have a giant pet that takes up my whole screen. I can not see my target much less, myself. These giant critters take my kills, take my xp, take my RAM, waste my time and annoy the hell out of me.

For 8 months CH have been running around with 10k+ HAM creatures mauling and overpowering the rest of us. For 8 months, Imerial Faction players have been able to get AT-STs and Dark Stormtroopers with 9k HAM while I a lowly Rebel can get a Faction pet with a mere 2500 HAM... HMM! WHO HAS BEEN UNDERMINED FOR 8 MONTHS? LOL.

Now they come across actually giving a benefit to the rest of us, and everyone is complaining about the balance of the game, when it has never been in balance since the beginning. If you want to be an UBER Jerk Player and kill everything, you have already done it, there are many of them. Luckily, those people have a short attention span and quit the game quickly after mastering the UBER KILLER professions. I enjoy RPing and Exploring everything there is to offer in this game.

It was neve balanced, and shouldn't be. My Pistoleer has no chance against a TKA Master or Commando...So, what difference is it going to make if I attempt to take on a solo commando or a commando with an UBER droid? I am still going to get Whooped! LOL

P.S. Read my next post: "Top 10 reasons BE/CH and DE/DH should not be related nor should DH be Created."

People want to be CH cause pets are FUN! what doesnt anyone understand? and in no way do I want to say this but theres a pretty good reason why **edit** was so popular in America (NO I am not saying CH is like that but its an easy comparison to make). Besides CH profession has been nerfed so much that I seriously dont understand how people are still complaining about it being overpowered when really it isnt, as it requires 107 skill points to master now if we think here thats almost half of your overall skill points! I dont know about you but that is alot.

True, but it should not be the main focus for every american piece of entertainment brought to RPG video games.

I know you were trying to say "Poke-Mon" (P-O-K-E-M-O-N) right? LOL...The powers to be must have foreseen our way of relating that to this topic. HAHA.

Haha yes I meant poke-mon my son used to be obsessed with it. And I do agree that not every game should be included with a creature handling profession but I think it isnt that bad with this game.

Isn't adding Combat Droids and supplying a consistant market for Combat Droids a fix for the DE? Doesn't it make DE profitable? Sure it's not everything you want, but it's a step in the right direction, the next step is fixing utility droids.. but don't screw up combat droids cause you are so hung up on getting what you already have fixed, get both ffs.

i believe pets are equal to weapons.
I believe droids are equal to weapons.
I believe droids are equal to pets.

As a CH if i want 3-4 weapons out i had to use skill points.
As a non CH if i want weapons i dont use skill points.
As a CH i have a range of weapons i can use.
As a non CH i have CL10 weapons.
As a DE i dont believe i have to spend skill points to have 3-4 weapons.
As a DE i believe everyone should have what weapon they choose.
As a CH who worked hard to have 3-4 weapons i believe others should do the same.
As a DE who wants to have 3-4 weapons i blame pets on americans and dont realize that asking for 3-4 droids is like the BE asking for the same thus eliminating both the market i want and neutralizing the CH profession.

Am i reading all the replies correctly so far? Really i want to understand your point.

Pluto9Moon - I am a DE and I agree with your assesment. The Droid Handler profession is completely consistent with the current combat system, as your explanation infers. Moreover, this new profession should make Droid Engineering very viable, because I think DH will be one of the most dabbled professions in the game. Even taming (capturing) droids in the wild could have a benefit to DE's, e.g. it will take a DE to fix or enhance wild droids.

One thing we all must keep in mind - current bug fixes have to be assumed, as SOE has stated they are working on them.

Eutock,
I am glad to see someone can see the logic that SOE will ultimately use is sound, and possibly the most valid plan exsiting. I will keep taking the one star ratings because i know that this is the course of action the Devs will take.
