Thread: Some math for those of you screaming unnerf the probots...
I haven't precalculated this so I have no idea which side of this argument the math will lead me to. I just wanted to make sure everyone was enlightened about how the dmg system REALY works.
MY old pre nerf probot has 40% resists no armor and 3100 hams.
The new one I'm buying today has 40% resits AR2 and 820 hams.
So lets see how mcuh dmg it takes to kill them? Say there being attacked by a monster like a Tortur. Does Kenetic AR 0. Old bot takes 5167 points of dmg to kill roughly. The new probot takes... 5468 poitns of dmg to kill. Hmmmmmmmm thats wht I thought. See you ppl underestimate the power of AR2. the way it works is like this. Each AR lvl the def has above the attack is 50% off dm BEFORE resists. So that means you get 50% OF 50% if the attack is AR0 and the def is AR2. Thus the dmg is 25% then 60%. Which works out to 15% of the total dmg is taken by the bot.
NOW get your bot in a PvP fight and let someon shoot it with a Laser Rifle or Carb. Kiss your bot goodbye. AR2 weapon v AR2 armor == dead bot. 1367 points. 2 shots dead.
Now in theory if you could make prenerf probot that had 3100 and AR 2 well that would be GODLY and frankly I'm glad they nerfed it. I don't understand fully what you could and could not make prenerf so plz aply my math to your own knowledge and see for yourself.
Owe one other math comparison. Lets compiar a Rock beatle. Pretty much THE toughest non CH pet I know of, and I'm a CH who sells pets so I shold know.
They are AR1 25% resists to 4 things and 2200 ham. Lets say the dmg is Kenetic AR 0.
Rock Beatle takes 5867 to die and the Probot as I figured before takes 5468. Now lets change that to a Laser for PvP. Probot is 1367. Rock beatle is 2346. Why because he takes 25% exptra dmg because he's AR1 v AR2 weapon. Accept lets say its a flame thrower. Well oops Rock Breatle has 0 heat but does have AR1 so he takes 50% whcih means 4400. However the Probot is 2733.
Any way I guess what my point is that the Probots aren't realy allt hat weak compiared to CH pets. 99.9999% of my problem with a probot is when he gets dmg you have NO way of healing him. However IMHO if you get a good non CH pet to use as a meat shield haveing a probot to provide extra suport fire + a med module etc is a VERY valuble tool. For a non CH faction overt person this means you can have 5 pets at once. ALOT of dmg potential there. Not ideal for PvP but for farming faction points you can do some serious dmg.
My solution to probots not healing. Buy 2 of them. Let one sit in data pad and heal while the other one fights then switch off. Etc etc. DE's should test this make sure it works and push this on customers. Offer them a packadge deal. 3 probots for 30k or 1 for 15k. you get what I mean.
It would be nice if that 'AR2' probot really WAS AR2... But apparently droid armor is currently all about the resist numbers.
Or so I've heard, not having tested this exhaustively myself.
Yepp - I am pretty certain from my limited analysis that only the resists work. LoL.
Personally I think I could live with 800 ish HAM if droid armour could actually get up to Heavy 40+%. The way I look at it players have approximately this sort of HAM and are droid-like in volume so a big pet could have more if HAM is related to volume of object. Well it makes sense to me, and pets should have lower max armour as metal/shields should be obviously better than bone/chiten etc.
The really naff thing is the CDEF damage output that probots do and the time it takes for them to fire a laser. I actuall y think most people would like to see the damage output go up rather than increased HAM imho.
I have gathered this information from this very board, and seen it posted by at least two or three people who I consider fairly reputable based on their posting histories.
But additional confirmation is always a good thing, between work and family I don't have a lot of time to take my droids out for combat tests.
You know'd be neat to help with the probot damage? Add an optional slot in the schematic for a weapon. If the slot isn't used then it uses the default CDEF damage and delay it does now. If you install a weapon it takes on the damage, delay and other charactoristics of the weapon installed. Hmm, it seems like there should be some kind of limitation built into this but I'm not sure what it should be.
From what I've read in these forums (I'm not yet capable of making probots) The armor does not work correctly in the probots, but it does work correctly in the Advanced Probots.
Not sure if that is intentional

I've siad all along the devs should shoot for more crafter cooperation. Meaning provide with say the avanced Probt schematic a slot to put 2 identicle Blaster Power handlers and 1 Blaster pistal barrel. Based on the quality of those parts provided by a weapon smith the cannon on the probot is a better dmg weapon.
Even if they don't do this witht he probots it seems to me if/when tehy make advanced combts droids something like this is a MUST.
Everyone should remember the in reality a probot is NOT a combat droid. It is ment for recon. the gun is mainly there for defense agiast aninals etc and maybe a lone sentry it meats in a recon. Han and chewy blasted one to pieces with 2-3 shots.
Me personly I think there great purely becuase they can have 2 modules. The med module + a crafting station makes them a very valuble tool in a fire fight. When used in tandom with Ch pets etc. I don't think the devs ment for them to be a tand alone tank for everyone to ahve to lvl there char.

This, however, is incorrect. What han said in the movie was that this shouldn't be enough to kill it. He said it activated its self-destruct. So really, the probot it a half-decent combat droid when it needs to be.
