Thread: Consent for Customizing Customer Droids?
How do you guys get consent to customize a customer's droids. I had to GUESS that the customer keyed-in '/consent MyName', and THATWORKED. However, is this the way it's supposed to be done? How have you been doing it?
I have the customer transfer the droid to me, I color it and transfer it back.
I'll try what you suggest (/consent Doughbacca) and see if that works.

Thanks. Getting the customer to type '/consent MyName' method works well. I have 5 droids in my pad, so I'd rather not give one up. I think you could show them the droid with the new color. Demand payment. Then click OK.
One more thing I've noticed. The droids which don't hold their colors when stored, cannot be shown to people who are not in the vicinity when the colors are applied. Everyone the droid later meets will see the droid in his default grey color. The droids that are permanently colored don't have this problem, it seems.
So, not only do the colors fade when stored, on the astromechanic droids; they aren't really there to begin with.

Yes.
1) Have the customer type '/consent YourName'.
2) Target the Droid.
3) Use the customization device. You may have to use it once for each color for the astromechanic droids, but the colors won't store, and can't be seen by anyone not present when the droid is colored.
On a side note...
There is apparently a max number of people you can have on your consent list. I found this out when a customer I was trying to test this feature on, couldn't consent to me, due to his list being maxed.
Soooo... Make sure you tell them to /unconsent (your name) after the process is through. Otherwise they are likely to maxing this list out, and when they REALLY need to give someone /consent they will be unable too, and very unhappy about it (Like having thier incapped selves dragged away from the Krayt Dragon).
Yes, we probably shouldn't have to educate our clientele on matters like this in the game, but if we don't, we will have fewer customers for these sorts of things in the future, since they will remember it caused them a problem in the past. Best way around this, is to be sure the problem never happens in the first place.

Ok, speaking of educating clients, i'm looking to have my droid customized. I've got a few questions.
1.) Does a DE have to customize it or can anyone with the kit do it?
2.) How many charges does a kit have?
3.) What's this about no one can see it if they're not around when it's customized, etc.? What the heck's the point of customization then?
4.) What's all this about the colors not storing? Does this mean that if I customize the droid, then store it, and bring it out again it goes back to "bondo and primer" color?

2. Single use.
3. The color isn't applied to the droid itself it just looks like it is to everyone present. This is only a problem on the R series droids and the mouse I believe.
4. Due to reason #3. When a droid is stored and called again it's refreshed in your client so you see the uncolored droid again.

Customization kits are not necessarily single-use. Using mid-grade materials I get two or three charges on them, at refinement 4.

Well that stinks. That sounds bugged to me...
You're saying that you apply the color to the R-series or mouse droid, then only the people who are standing around when this happens can see it AND if you store it the colors go away? What the hell's the point of getting your droid colored then, if it'll just wear off the instant you store it? Jeez... I was really looking forward to having an interesting colored R2 unit, instead of the usual junk.
Any word on whether you can use numerics in names yet? (IE: R2-X9 or whatever)
