What do you expect for a position that is a lot of work and no pay.
While DE may get a boost in terms of initial sales to JTL the lack of Decay will mean once again that the market will saturate and DE will return to status as one of the weak crafting professions.
The fix to DE as a business is to have a decay system implemented that is effective. That means a decay system able to flush the products from the market at a rate that makes the DE profession sustainable. It also has to take into account that most droids are not used in combat situations but rather passive "helpers" that never get killed.
Usage of a droid should cause them to decay and either require complete replacement or a rebuild kit worth as much as the droid should be implemented. The latter is to deal with the inevitable complaints that people want to keep their old droid. I say no problem, but continuing to use him is going to cost you as much as a new one. You can have your attachment to your old Chevy, but that does not mean you can continue to drive it without a complete engine and transmission rebuild, not to mention the suspension, body work, paint, new interior, etc...Nostalgia is not free.
Droid engineers need to call for no more free lunches with their products and demand equal standing to the professions with effective drains like WS, AS, Chef and Doctor.
It is simply a question of balance. Droid engineer as a business is not balanced with other crafting professions. If you compare combat XP to crafter credits as the measure of advancement the DE profession is like telling rifleman that there is only a certain amount of XP out there and once it is gone rifleman will only get XP when new players come in or people drop their rifle boxes.
Just like there needs to be a combat balance coming there also needs to be a crafting balance done to bring those professions without effective product drains up to a similar level to those with effective product drains.
