I am not a purist, nor a 'starwarsian'

Nor am I im my wildest moments going to be a CH in disguise

Please just go away..too many of your kind are now, and I mean this, polluting our forum.

Just go away and play with your CL70 'pets'

Thankyou, and 'move along'

DarkMist,

I think that you have a decent grasp on the situation. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

No Shian, I agree with Darkmist and have stated this before.I have yet to see anyone provide an argument against the creation of a Droid Commander profession that does not rely on feeling or that takes the balance issue into account. Apparently Darkmist hit a nerve in you.

This statement shows that you think that Creature Handlers are something to be loathed in the game, which only strengthens the comments that Darkmist made. I challenge you to come up with 1 reason, that is not based upon some sort of prejudice, thatCreature Handlersshould not be apart ofStar Wars Galaxies.

Drasshk you shock me

You have yet to see an argument against the new profession? Not one valid one? One that is logical and devoid of feeling and that takes balance into account? Ye Gods...look to the certification argument from who?

You also misrepresent my CH feelings. I don't loath them at all, I am nearly one myself lol, since I have so much scout already. Of course CH has a place in SWG, just not the dominant place they have always had up to this point. You may also have read another post here suggesting that DH should be incorporated into CH completely, that one did annoy me I admit. Loath CH ..No.

You have disappointed me on this...and now I wonder, based on your comments, if you are, in fact, a supporter of DH or as you put it Droid Commander (a phrase never mentionded yet by the devs..in public anyway.possibly privately to you)

Shame

I've stated that I am in support of the Droid Handler (I prefer Commander myself. Droid Handler and Droid Master just don't have any flair ) profession because it will allow for the most flexiblity as a crafter. Many of the arguments against the DC profession are very short sighted and are loaded with misconceptions about what the profession could be. Some of the misconceptions include -

  • That DCs will be the only profession to control all droids. Anyone will be able use any non-combat droid and combat droids Level 10 and under. DCs will have control over Droids Level 10 and above

  • That DCs will be the only profession that can 'Tame' Droid deeds and program them. Again, anyone will be able to use any non-combat droid and combat droids Level 10 and under.

  • That DCs will 'Tame Wild Droids'. DC will be based off of purchasing droids from a DE and may include faction Droids as well.

These are the three points that I am making sure that the DEVs are aware of, if/when the Droid Commander is pushed forward in the development phase.

Well it's probably time to leave then, if the correspondent doesn't represent the views of the majority of the profession? No hope for me as an individual thats for sure.

I thought it was your job to do that..was I wrong? You did read the Poll right? You did see the apology from TH, and you do see the majority comment in 'In Development' is against DH or whatever you have privately decided to call it?

I have none of those 3 misconceptions. The only one that matters is that DE will only be able to sell combat droids to DH..and thats just sad.

Count me out from your support base if thats what you support

Looks to me like we may have a 4th misconception here. CL11 or higher combat droids will only be sellable to DH. CL10 and lower will be sellable to anyone. I'm pretty sure that's what you meant but I still think this argument is pointless. If utility droids are fixed and become asuseful as they should then that will surely open up a market for DEs, meaning that DHs will not be your only customers.

I felt a great disturbance in the air, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in anger and were suddenly nerfed.

I understand that ..always did

The thing is the Utility droids are so far off (after this multi-pass combat iteration) that it will be months before we see the benefit..and until then DH is our only new customer

Thanks though, now there are no misconceptions

I have to thank Drashk for understanding my point, and making me feel like less of an intruder on the issue. Things are looking up for DE's, in my opinion. I've followed the DE forums for a fairly long time, and i have nothing but respect for all of you who trudged through the dark months of little contact and no improvments to DE. All i wish is to hear solid reasons as to why DH (yeah..i very much prefer Droid Commander as well..) shouldn't be implemented. All i saw was nearly wall to wall DH bashing, and i sought to try to and figure out why. You already have my theory. Thanks to everyone in advance for their consideration.

please allow me to take a stab at this

CH's and I mean a lot of them both sell and use creatures for combat. They sell mounts andthey sell tanks and some are more like ranchers than the combat oriented profession these posts make them out to be.

When the CL10 limit was set it did narrow the market some and vehicles hit the mount trade but they are balancing out now. They do both so why cant I?

I worked hard to get to where I am I enjoy selling Droids but every now and then I like to get out of the office and get dirty. Sure Im a minority but why does that mean I should get ignored? Why do I have to change my template because you said you want to craft? A balance can be reached without the creation of a new profession. Are we saying that CHs work harder than DEs? Are we saying that because I choose to make droids I should be relegated to a back room because my peers are to good for combat?

Balance is a virtue of online gaming and its hard to acheive but something as simple as a choice allows us to do what we want with our chosen profession I dont want to be a CH or I wouldve have chosen that path I want to be a DE I want to build and take that creation into combat with me. For me its as if Architects cant use houses or factories they can only make them, Smugglers can only produce spices and slices but not utilize the benefits, tailors must run naked in the streets while their customers wear silk. If a Droid Engineer cannot use his battledroid then why exist?

Giving me the chance to use battledroids doesnt unbalance anything if using the actual droid occupies me enough to keep my other atributes in check. Which for me personally is only Novice Rifleman because Im Master Art Master Arch Master DE. Another option must exist besides the one that robs me of a reason for existing as a DE. Maybe a DC can use 3 Battledroids and a DE only1 (should still be able to call multiples of other typesthough) but damnit I deserve the right to use my own creations as qualified by reaching master regardless of the level of that creation.

Okay off my emotional distress for a bit: I am not necesarily against the creation of a DC but I dont think it makes sense if they are totally dependant on DEs for their lively hood. So what does that get you? a ton of DC/DE people = DE sales are down for battledroids because the DCs make thier own because much like the current CH dropping just a few points into it is worthless so its all or nothing. okay so now we have a bunch of people that add no market.

reason #2 why it doesnt make sense lets say DCs have to use so many points to obtain a worthwhile investment that DE is not an option. so what do you get? you get rampant inflation on battledroids because now we can charge what we want for them and we have a captive market. side effects are rampant inflation on armor for droids, and weapon subs if they require that. sure this works for me but its not a balance of any sort and the only people making out are those with multiple accts on the same server which is already all to common for my taste.

reason #3 why it doesnt make any sense is because all the similarities between CH and DE are already there. allowing DE to use droids as a CH uses pets is the path of least resistance. CHs are deemed by many to be a less than tasteful profession and that may very well be the same reasoning behind keeping DEs as crafters because many of them cannot stomach the thought of getting close to that CH feeling.

reason #4 why it doesnt make sense is because it begins a spiral toward power classes. CH is a power class, BH is a power class I dont see the need for another one. I dont see a need to go this direction

thats about all I can say for now without some more thought on the subject. I would add that the "ideal answer"for me that could satisfy both sides is give me one battledroid at a time and give DCs however many pets a CH can run. But honestly i dont see a need for them

If they add Droid handler or commander or whatever I would like more skill points please.....Master Droid engineers should automatically recieve enough skill points to control the droids they make.

It's true, that some ch's do engage mainly in selling mounts and battle pets, and not actually engaging in combat. However, remember that Ch pets can only engage in combat. They are one dimensional in nature. A DE can create droids that do much more. CH's are also not a crafting profession, they branch off scout which gives them a more outdoorsy lifestyle then your average DE is likely to have.

However, if the new DH class is implemented, then feel free to make use of it. Dabble in it to your hearts desire, or pick it up in its entirety. No points left? Well, thats the beauty of the game. You have to make choices as to what you would like to do. I could envision DH branching off the engineering tree like DE curently does, so you could pick up the engineering tree, master DE, and master DH. That would likelymean no mastering of artisan, but if your intent is simply to make and use your own products, then you could buy the parts that you can't make yourself from other artisans. They are everywhere these days with the introduction of vehicles.

I don't believe that the economic factor will be a issue either. Some DE's may try to gouge the DH's who choose not to make their own droids, and then those gougers will get undercutted until a rough standard is achieved on each server, as it is now for every other item.

I also don't forsee a mass rush of people to attain both DE and DH. There are people in this game that can't stand crafting, though i'm not one of them. And if experimentation matters inthe final product at all (i reallyhope it does) then existing DE's will be able to create much better products then any new upstarts, and you guy have been piling up resources and have the tools at hand to drop harvs down on whatever pops up on the server.Your average joe will have to startfromno resourcesand work up.You will have plenty of DH and non DH customers, i'm sure of that.

This whole CH disgust thing..not sure i understand why it isn't tasteful. Ch's are no longer the end all and be all of this game. It's a mistake that they were ever, but its fixed. All professions are equal in my eyes, in terms of their importance. They all come together to make this game what it is. There are no disreputable professions.
