Thread: Droidekas or IG assasin droids
Droidekas.. more than likely.. eventually
I seriously doubt they will add assasin droids.
I just posted on another thread with a similar topic so I'll keep it brief, but I had to reply to Ekul. You don't need to make the droids as powerful as Rancors. Currently the probots are only half as powerful as a level 15 Non-CH pet, which means the DEVs have A LOT of room to play with.I think battle droids need a ranged attack to stand them appart from Creatures. Let them have lower damage and lower HAM than cratures but a ranged attack.
Marksmen is to Brawler as Creature is to Droid.
I agree that we don't want eveyone with the same droid, so make different droids with approximatly the same power level. One might have more armor, another has a higher rate of fire, another may be more accurate; but essentually the same thing only looking different.
Also, they should make it so you can't call a "battle droid" and a CH pet at the same time (this wouldn't affect droids not intended for battle, i.e. Medic droids, R2s, MSE, etc.) to eliminate the potential exploit.
To say that droids are too powerful, or we can't make droids more powerful due to balancing issues, is B.S.; Droids are way underpowered compared with Creature pets.
What I was trying to say is the reason they didn't add them day one was there scared f the balancing issues. I fully agree with you that they should put something in. However expecting them to do so in the next week or 2 when they have problems like owe FACTORYS STILL WONT WORK RIGHT etc is a bit of a stretch.
I think tehy will add something just a matter of how many yrs it takes...![]()
The main reason that Probots aren't any better than they currently are is due to experimentation not functioning. I started a thread earlier today that states this issue. If Experimentation did work, in theory, Probots would end up being as unique as a weapon crafted by a Weaponsmith. Hasn't anyone ever notice the Probots are basically all the same of either 810 HAM for the base model or 820 HAM for the advanced. If the system worked correctly, the effectiveness of a Probot would actually change depending on if it was crafted by a Master or the best resources were used. Under the current system, neither of these actually have an effect on the droid, just the components that can be installed.
As to added the IG series of Droids, it goes completely against the entire EU (Extended Universe) that was created for IG-88's back ground. I can't remember off hand, but I think IG-88's story line was published in one of the Bounty Hunter paperbacksa few years back. The IG series was a very limited production run (only 8 or so ever produced -- unsure of the number here) and resulted in a couple of the droids escaping from their manufactoring facitlity, after killing their creators. The IG droids that are found in game are the ones that escaped, if I remember correctly, and will later become IG-88 (Star Wars BH comic from Dark Horse Comics). So, if SOE and Lucas LTD, follow suite, the IG series will never be added as a Droid type to be owned.
Droidekas are something else entirely. I can't wait for their inclusion, but I would much rather them fix the current problems now, instead of added an entirely new set of possible problems.
Ya, I caught that one and should have stated something to the effect. I was just trying to get the point across to everyone that would read this thread, in general, that new droid models look to be a lot further off then was originally anticipated.
And for a comment directed at your previous post Kamaru - Maybe instead of another part that will depend on an Armorsmith maybe have it be something like 5 factory Energy Distrutors and 5 factory Power conditioners. We already owe our hides, no pun intended,to the the Armorsmiths inorder to make level 5 and 6 Armor. Why not just use the Master Artisan parts that we are already qualifed to make (Well, most of us are, I would assume.)?And/or togive a bit more of the cooperation feel, instead throw in the need for Advanced Weaponsmith parts.
All of this aside, I've said it before and I'll say it again, Experimentation should be the first priority to be fixed.
hate to burst your bubble
I make probots with 821 to 830 ham ( advanced )
I raise the damage from 50 50 to 55 59 to 57 62
I even make them shoot faster
but the price differance to make such a worthy droid have 5 more health or even 10 for the materials it requires isnt worth it to the customer
I own by our server standards a 172k r3, he is no better then the 30k version.. but he is mine and made from the finest of things
I also own a by standards 90k probot , umm.. keep it at 820 ham, sell it cheaper..
Gveedo <-TR-> Bloodfin
I'd be able to make those as well, and still offer them for the same prices that I do, if Shadowrun were an older server with more than just 3 shifts under its belt. Yes, the best resources make a minor impact on the final build, according to the datapad, but does the HAM read as 820 or 830 when you do a mouse over on the Probots HAM bar. I'd bet that it only shows 820.
But here is the thing. Lets take a Weaponsmiths Scout blaster for an example. If a Weaponsmith were to use very low quality resources, and then to make a second Scout blaster with the very best resources, there would be a huge difference in performance, even if the Weaponsmith didn't experiment. An increase of 10 poins of HAMon aProbot isa little over a 1% increase. So, to say that my bubble is burst would be like saying that a DZ70 is an effective fighter. Its just not true, unless you really believe that a 1% increase on HAM and a, at best, 20% increase on an already low damage rating is a huge improvement. If you believe this to actually be true, can I interest you in a DZ70 combat droid with Medium Armor?
