Thread: Now that we've seen the big plan for us....any other DEs considering throwing in the towel ?
The big plan is a big flop. It doesnt solve any of the REAL issues.
1. no market for people to BUY droids
2. taking away emphesis on people using Animals and letting people fill the world with Droids instead.
Well Good Work, The realissues arent addressed. They just gave DEs droids and abilities only THEY can use, what is the use in that? This is a Artisan class what use is giving DEs droids and the ability to use more then 1 pet when they are suppose to be SELLING droids? Brillant SOE, great work 'fixing' DE between this and the CH and faction pet nerf watch how many more accounts slip away.
My towel was thrown in quite a while ago. It seems that SWG just keeps on getting worse. This so called "plan" doesn't really adress the issues here. Just who the heck are we supposed to sell droids to? After they implement this all we'll be selling are med bots, crafting stations and power droids. Yay! One whole more droid we can sell. Oh wait, no one else will be able to use combat droids. Looks like a net loss to me. *sigh* With the added nerf to pets in general, I see more huge problems on the Horizon for SWG.
More importantly the "plan" seems to miss the vast bulk of issues DE have been asking to be dealt with. Are they paying attention to what we have to say? Few DEs have asked to gain an advantage in using combat droids. We wanted them to be useful to all, but now with the one-pet-per-character rule coming in, its a pipe dream at best.
Frankly the changes, and planned changes,of late have left me thuroughly disappointed. I had some hope that a 6 to 12 months down the road the game would have shaped up into something nice, and I could play it again. That hope is now gone. ![]()
May the Force be with you all. You'll need it. ![]()
I have always believed the following. Give SQUAD LEADERS the ability to have exclusive droids if you really want to make the most powerful droid rare. They are designed to work with groups or in teams. I am not talking revamping the class, just add one or two more skills allowing them to pull out an additional droid or to have powerful droids.
But please, please do not give DEs exclusive rights to operating certain droids nor giving them exclusively greater amount of called droids. I can understand giving them more STORED droids as I believe has been implemented. But that should be the only perk available to them other than the ability to craft the droids
If you do not like squad leaders getting all the perks, make it linked to the number of skill points you have spent in skills, or the number of masteries you have. This could give you added certifications to use droids or to use more droids. This is not too far-fetched from the real world. It takes maturity to be able to handle a pet, even if it is a droid. It just means that no one gets nerfed. Newbies cant have the best droids available.
This solves a lot of problems.
I joined this game because I could make droids.
You know what? I CAN make droids. They're far from perfect, and I'll grumble about their shortcomings ad nauseum, but I CAN indeed make droids.
My storage and crafting droids have helped me immensely, especially early in my career. My probot has saved my big hairy butt quite a few times, and I haven't even yet bothered to make myself a full 40% medium armored version yet (keep selling them instead!).
I DO manage to sell droids, in fact I was quite surprised this morning to find someone had plunked down 50K to pick up the BLL I had on my vendor. I consistently sell surgical model droids, I maintain a good relationship with customers, and referrals from them get me new customers. I keep up with the latest news about the profession, good and bad, and this tends to keep me a valuable resource for other players who honestly don't know ANYTHING about droids.
So no, I don't see why this hint of a possible improvement to my abilities should make me drop the profession.
