Thread: any MDE's actually use the lvl 6 modules? or just double up on the 4's?
WHy bother to run around and get 15 different types of resources , when for a few more resources you can use crap steel , crap chemical and crap whatever else to get the same desired results?
Although my questions seems answered , i just want to ask fellow DE's what they do , since i just made Master Tonight and really haven't studied the new schematics i can make. maybe there's a reason i'm missing?
Thanks,
Parax
i find its cheaper and easier to use lvl6 mods if you can. i use lvl 6 armor mods now. i just paid a armorsmith to make me a schematic with 1k units using this steel I had, and it just makes things easier. if im just making a probot to attack with, or tank, I dont need to make an advance one to get the best armor.
CHEAPER!

But can't you do that by adding 2 lvl 4 modules into a socket cluster , taking that cluster and add it into another cluster with 2 level 4 item storage modules , then taking that cluster and adding it into a cluster with a crafting station?
sure , you're using more resources , but you don't need 45 of each type of stee.
I *always* use level 6's except for armor when I have the option.
First, it's easier then going through the hassal of nesting. The more you nest, the more likely you are to critical, and that wastes time.
Second, I use the best available materials and components. Some day, Experimentation is going to matter, like Architects did. And there are going to be a whole lot of people on Radiant who say to themselves
"I'm glad I went ahead and bought the Seeker brand droids!"
Quality and customer service. If you go the extra mile, that customer will send 10 friends. If you can say you use nothing but the best, those who demand it will seek you out. I don't use a resource under 900 unless it's never spawned above 900.
Not slamming anyone, that's just my Outlook.
If I am at my shop where I keep alot of my resources, I use LVL6 modules of course
If I am very far from my shop or on another planet and someone needs a quick droid, then I double up. It takes more resources, but its better service than saying, wait here for half an hour so I can get the components

Nope, that's exploiting the nesting-cluster bug. If you do that you're cheating (in my book) and your droid may stop working one day. Besides, if you do that why make anything other than the base MSE?
Use a L6 module and you can max out a R2 adv with all modules, instead of building an R3 and either exploiting that bug or coming up short. Because I build mostly adv. models, and I don't have a handy armorsmith, I build armor 4 modules and double up. But generally I'll go to the trouble to build L6.
The other fella had a point tho, and I'll be looking for that armorsmith this weekend
I get around the 45 kinds of steel problem by using and abusing my factories -- I build large runs of components and just carry those, and the materials to build chassis and assemble the final droids. When I find a good steel I mine about 100k of it and save it in my house for the next factory spree.
I haven't done droid runs in the factory (yet) other than BH droids, but I'll get there... It's just that I usually wind up with an odd mix of one component or another (just 10 of the jvv manipulator arms, and 30 from the xqv series) and it makes the droid factory run idea uneconomical.
Lvl 6 medic modules are also an extreme help because often people order the medic modules and practically every other module (repair, item storage, and data storage)
The devs are aware of this issue and has been since DAY ONE.
So if it is such a horrid exploit they'd be all over it like flies on poo.
I don't mind, nor care about those level 6 modules. I use double 4's all the time.
Then again, mainly because I can't get some of the level 6 resources I need ... *cough* lidium extrusive *cough*
Cheaper you say? Well... to some extent, yes. But it's not like you're losing thousands of resources for double-stacking.
Frankly, as long as an advanced R4 is just as good a droid as a basic R2, something is wrong. And in a sense, it's a BETTER droid, because it's easier to make it, no need to take the extra step of crafting the cluster. Less risk, equal function, fewer resources. That can NOT be right.
I use level 6 armour because I still believe that even though the 40% resist medium armour stats are identical to that of a level 4 armour plate, it is still stronger.
Other than that, I don't see the point it trying to get a ton of specific materials when I can just use a couple of level 4's ... or even experiment on a couple of level 3's.
such as "we know it's an exploit , and it's bad , and all droids that have used it will no longer work"?
