Thread: Inside info on DE Elite Elite.
EDIT: Sorry about the typo. my = by. And the last comment wasnt ment to be a shout. It's just my poor editing skill.
Well, as of now it is a rumor. I hope it is true. But a rumor never the less.
HA! I think the ground just got much colder.. what was that??? Oh.. that was hell freezing over.
Seriously, I have been lusting over the potential of starship design ever since the game was reportedly in development. It would be a miracleif I actually endured the broken profession that resulted in my dream job. I'm taking this with a grain of salt though... maybe a couple dump trucks of salt actually..
I really think this elite-elite stuff is a bad design decision. Base it off the main starter fields, just like the 'regular' elite professions.
Vehicle engineer: Not a Droid Engineer spinoff
Spaceships: Droids might help on them, but they're not a DE spinoff.
Urban Planner: Architect? Sounds nice, but the people planning the urban area, architects? Personally, I don't think so.
Sry I just trust any thing that does not come right from the devs post... my view is that they will add a vehicles engineer and his elite elite with be starships. he still may need to get the weapons and armor from WS and AS but he puts it together. that would ge the DE a chanse to be elite elite battal droid engineers. Plues if we are the SDers then we will have to wait about a year and a half for space to come out. and i know they ant screwing us that bad.
Personally, I hope they make Starship construction amulti-person effort. Why?
1) It makes sense that it requires more than one person to build your typical Nebulon B Class Frigate... it should require massive facilities (imagine 20 lots divided by x number of people), 2) A starship is an amalgam of countless parts from all the higher end crafting professions, so all artisan classes should be involved in it's construction, (it should not fall under the DE elite/elite profession alone), 3) It might foster the growth of spacefaring / shipbuilding PA's, where everyone in the PA pulls together to work on projects and launches craft together.
Personally, I think there is great potential for the artisan classes to really shine with the development of ships/vehicles. Let's see how SOE drops the bal... er.. handles this.

They might be basing this concept on the book "Rogue Planet" by Greg Bear.
In this book, there is a starship designer who is also a droid engineer (mainly combat droids). It is this starship designer who ends up designing the Death Star. My apologies for omitting the exaxt name, as I can't recall.
