Bloodfin is down so I thought I'd post this to save ya a trip.

From IGN:

You can buy a droid separately to help manage some of your ship functions. In fact, droids are required to do some of the things that you used to be able to do in the previous space combat sims. You'll have to teach your droid how to monkey around with ship settings first but once they've learned you can order them to shift power from one system to another, giving you greater weapons effectiveness at the cost of engine speed, for instance. Though the franchise continuity doesn't allow for droid slots in TIE Fighters, the team is allowing droids to help out in those ships as well.

*blinks*

Awww c'mon... Not in the TIE fighters! They are too cramped as it is... Possibly the Bombers on the payload side, but not the standard TIE/f or TIE/i ...

If so, make it "size" limited to MSE droids... Still doesn't make any sense...

The TIE/a (Advanced) maybe ... but still...

apparently the imps have found the trick to nano-compression... they're adding hyperdrive generators, shields and astromechs to tie-l/n's (the disposable fighters)

On the bright side it means all factions: Rebel, Neutral, and Imperial will have to buy droids to compete in JTL.

I gave up on continunity with the Jedi fiasco.

yea, I know... just felt like being bitter. My only hope is that the droids used in ships will need some special modules, or will benefit from special modules... otherwise sales increase will be minimal.

You know, if you look really closely at the shots inside the TIE's you can see the droids behind the pilots. Trust me, really you can!

I would be shocked if they didnt have space specific modules.

On the other hand we should all apply to Beta and make sure the droid angle is taken care of.

I personally feel that they will be.

I'll be doing everything I can along those lines too, of course.

I can see it now, they don't limit what droid can help on a TIE and people are sitting in there with BLL's. On one hand we have a reason to build them if only for the hilarity of it.

In case I missed something, did SOE mention if we were going to have to purchase the JTL exspansion in order to make whatever Space-support content that will become available? I have no plans to play a twitch-based game, but if its going to cut me out of a large slice of the market, then I might buckle.

From what I have seen mentioned, anything that is released for JTL will require you owning JTL to access it. IE new professions, alien races, space travel.

This could also translate into any new modules/droids that JTL brings with it. Nothing specific has been given on what, if any, new content is going to be added. From all indications, our current droids are just going to react differently when on board a ship.

Yea...I want you all to be aware that I know precisely the same info on JTL that you all do (in relation to droids).

I suspect some of what will happen will be built on how things are now. But it's all really up in the air.
