Thread: New JTL droid info
You can buy a droid separately to help manage some of your ship functions. In fact, droids are required to do some of the things that you used to be able to do in the previous space combat sims. You'll have to teach your droid how to monkey around with ship settings first but once they've learned you can order them to shift power from one system to another, giving you greater weapons effectiveness at the cost of engine speed, for instance. Though the franchise continuity doesn't allow for droid slots in TIE Fighters, the team is allowing droids to help out in those ships as well.

Awww c'mon... Not in the TIE fighters! They are too cramped as it is... Possibly the Bombers on the payload side, but not the standard TIE/f or TIE/i ...
I'll be doing everything I can along those lines too, of course.

In case I missed something, did SOE mention if we were going to have to purchase the JTL exspansion in order to make whatever Space-support content that will become available? I have no plans to play a twitch-based game, but if its going to cut me out of a large slice of the market, then I might buckle.
From what I have seen mentioned, anything that is released for JTL will require you owning JTL to access it. IE new professions, alien races, space travel.
This could also translate into any new modules/droids that JTL brings with it. Nothing specific has been given on what, if any, new content is going to be added. From all indications, our current droids are just going to react differently when on board a ship.
I suspect some of what will happen will be built on how things are now. But it's all really up in the air.
