Yea this isn't exactly DE related, but it sorta is. Were a good group here and can talk about stuff that turns into rants on other boards.

Hopefully one of you guys can tell me that I read the Friday feature wrong. Please help me understand the Jedi & FS quest better.

Steps.

1. You get badges. You get enough the Old Man visits you.

2.You deal with the Sith and their camp.

3.You now can get into the village and do the quests for the FS trees.

4. Complete 24 boxes from the FS trees and your Jedi slot unlocks.

Ok now part #3 is the part that I am steamed and confused over.

From what I read, the village has "stages" and you can ONLY do the proper quest for each branch during that stage. If you cannot finish that quest before the next stage starts, you lose all progess on that quest.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

So if what I hear is correct, and each stage is 3 weeks long. Let's say the "Enhanced Crafting" quest stage is the first one. So let's say I get visited from the Old Man right away. Kill the Siths, start my quest. Now I have 3 weeks to fill all my FS crafting boxes?? If I don't fill them, they are gone?

Even worse, let's say the Old Man doesn't visit me right away. So I miss the "Enhanced Crafting" stage. Then I need to wait NINE WEEKS?? to do it?

Please please say I read it wrong.

I was very excited about this publish. I thought it would give me a cool quest to work on, a goal. What this looks like is sit around and wait for 9 weeks, then take leave from work so that I can power grind for 3 weeks. Sigh.

Here is the low down

  • Step 1 - Inner Glow - You will need X badges to to get the Inner Glow status which grants you a visit from the old man

  • Step2 - Ambused by the Theives - After your visit, you are randomly attacked by 2 Sith that try to take your Crystal. They drop a disk that gives you the location of the sith camp. Buffs and armor are a must for non-combat types

  • Step 3 - Sith Camp - You will need to clear the camp and loot the leader. He will drop another disk which will give you the location of the village. If you are a crafter, you will need assistance on this one.

  • Step 4 - The Village - Here you will be given the chance to unlock 1 of the 16 different branchs during the 4 diifferent phases. Each Phase will last up to 3 weeks. 4 unlocks are offered each week, however you can only take 1 quest per phase.

  • Step 5 - XP Conversion - As soon as you enter the village, you are given access to Paenom. He allows you to convert your current XP to FS XP.

  • Step 6 - Training - After you unlock a branch, you can train it at any time. You do not lose the ability to train in a branch after it is unlocked, nor do you lose any skills gained.

  • Step 7 - 6 Branches - Once you have completed 6 branches of training, you progress to the exit quest.

  • Step 8 - Mellichae - You have to defeat this bombad Force User before you are able to become a Jedi Initiative. This is a fight that one should not take lightly.

Hope that this helps spell it out a little bit better for you

I'm not testing this patch considering how fast paced the phase changes happened. I was behind even before things got started because of my new job.

My biggest concern right now is JTL the combat balance, so I've been gearing up my other TC characters for that.

It's this area that he's unclear.

I think (if I read right) that he's concerned about taking a quest and not having time to complete it during the current cycle.

If that's the case, I'm not sure yet if you need to be worried. Best as I've seen, you shouldn't have a problem being able to finish in time...and the quest should (I believe) carry over to the next cycle.

I don't think you can really 'miss the bus' on this.

Ok Drashk cleared up my concerns some.

So apparently, I can do the "Experimentation" branch quest, then at any time, convert xp over to those boxes and fill them. At first, I thought you actually had to finish the boxes before the phase shifted.

Are there quests for crafters? Are we going to have to kill stuff?

TK, here is what I was talking about with missing the bus like you said. Let's say I want the Experimentation tree, even though it is pretty much pointless now. Let's say that is the first phase, starting tomorrow. My DE doesn't get out much, so lets say it takes her 2 weeks to get a visit from the old man. Then suddenly RL issues come up. I don't have time to do the quest in the next week.

Now I need to wait 9 weeks for the Experimentation quest to come around again.

I totally agree with and understand making people wait 3 weeks until they cando the next quest. What I don't like is that if you miss your quest, your stuck waiting 9 weeks.

It seems like they are looking at it totally from a "unlock Jedi" point of view, and not considering the people (like crafters,) who may only want a branch or 2.

No, you shouldn't have to kill. You actually DO have to craft stuff (and 'community crafted' items, like the Village Defenses).

Okay...I understand. The answer I can give is....I don't know (but I'll check).

Quests do not carry over to the next cycle.

Of the 4 phases to the crafting quests, Phase 1 can be completed in less than 1 hour, if you have the resources required to craft the 4 items. Each item needs 1 specific type of resource, like my favorite one in this quest, Yavin Wind. Phase 4 requires 6 loot drop items, that should be easily obtained on most loot vendors by the time the quest is in Phase. The Phase 2 & 3 quests are the only ones that will take longer thana fewhours, but only due to the time needed to collect the resources. For these to quests, you will want to make friends with a few combat types that are running the combat quests in all 4 phases. Each Shadow Sith will drop 1 to 4 Resource containers, which are required for the schematics that you with gain from QT-QC, a BLL. With the drop rate being so high on TC1 currently, many will run out of inventory room rather quickly. My suggestion is to hang out in the village, next to one of the combat quest NPCs so that you can ask the combat types after each leg of the quest. Most of the combatquests will produce at least 30-50 resource containers, but these are the numbers on TC currently.

Now say I have some Droid Crafting XP before I start the quests, would I be able to turn that into FS xp right away? Also, if I don't finish the quest before the time is up, do I lose all the progress I've made and must wait time to get it all back?

Yes. the moment that you set foot into the village, you can speak to Paemos, who handles of the XP conversion

Yes, from all indications once a phase shifts you will have to start over from the very beginning of the quest. However, right now there are a number of issues that I have run into, that have cropped up due to the changes being made to quests. I don't think that anyone on TC1 will be able to give a definative answer on this question until after QA has a chance to come and straighten up issues with those of us who have tried to progress while the systems are being worked on.

Only those that start off the quests fresh will be able to answer this question correctly, and only after QA is able to track down the current issues

Are there any news on an non-combat start for the quest?

Last thing i know is that you absolutly HAVE to do combat...

(I know they haven't changed it, but maybe any word of a DEV like "it is working as intended" or "we are working on it" )
