Thread: Am I, the Only One, that still Wants Combat Droids ?

There is no MUST about it. It's simply a matter of the Devs putting in some effort to DE..as they are apparently doing with utility. Lord knows whats up their sleeves about modifying existing droids for combat....frankly I fear to think about it. The lack of information is staggering.

True combat droids will come...but not with a CH clone profession. Maybe they just might get it right and do certifications in the end...but thats all a matter of checkers so a wise man told me.

TH has asked several seperate questions, each was a yes or no question. You said you want the DH abilities put into DE but we voted long ago that we wanted to remain a crafter class and not be made into an exact clone of CH and face all their issues. What TH should have done is presented us with multiple choices each explaining its own vantage on balance and coding difficulty. TH has tried to piece the seperate discussions together to get a concensus of the communities desires when he ought have laid out the alternate path the DEVs would follow if you voted no onany of theproposals. i.e. If THhad told us when hesuggested putting the DH skills in DE that not doing so would mean anew DH profession orno Combat droids at all, then the vote would have been different.

ummm lets see. They said they will get to making combat droids. ummm they will be under CL10. ummm <scratches head> Probot!! umm nope we got that and they think that is bal;anced the way it is. <scratches head> I like my Probot all but one small problem.. healing it. Such a small problem. <thinks> can't heal because needs repair droid... that makes sense.. like that idea. WAIT! We can make them. Digs into tinker toy outfit and pulls it out then sees his Probot got stored <mumbles> Pulls out Probot to get fixed and repair droid gets put away. <mumbles>We have a combat droid we have repair droids to fix the Probot. What we do not have is ability to fix our own combat droid. Yes I would love combat droids. No I don't see a balance issue since critters are nothing but skins and stats and making them look like droids instead of critters does nothing to balance other then step on CH toes beacuse droids would be alot more cool in the first place. I play SWG for lazer blast, space ships and droids. I do not see them making another class a clone to CH. I do hope to see us being able to FIX OUR DROIDS OURSELF!!! Now unless I still miss something that is not possable to do. Adding anything more into game will not do Jack cause then we would not be able to fix them as well. <mumbles walking away picking out parts in his tinker toy set to see what comes out>

"In the next two publishes, after crackdown, we are focusing specifically on Droids. We plan on implementing combat droids (< level 10) in P7, and Utility Droids in P8." - JustG

When I voted, No, to 'Do you want a 'DH' profession. I 'meant', I want 'DH' to be included, in skillpoints DEs already have.

If I knew DH was the Only way to get combat droids (of a level usefull for combat) (( > lev 10 !)) Then, I would have Voted Yes.

I would still prefer 'The Plan'. But if I musy have DH for Combat droid then I want DH.

I think, we made our selve heared about DH. If we want Combat Droids, we must now make ourselves heared again !

Not in the next two publishes of our 'focus'. Unless we show a strong will. And DEs arnt going to be upsetting anyones checker board with some combat options.

Checkers are one thing. the players must start with an equall amount to have a fair match. But its not all that important how much potato chips each have (to the victory) (but it would be nice to have equality in the snack fiel as well.) (though, one could have potato chips, and the other tortilia chips)

Anyway, DEs and crafters, have a stack of snacks. We cant play checkers, with potato chiips. (maby poker, nuther issue)

Sorry but its people like you that have caused so much confusion in the DE forum in the first place.

According to "Your Plan", You want combat droids to be better than level 10 CH petsyet you want it to be part of the same profession that creates them? this only leads to an elite class which if it went live would suddenly see the market flooded with power gamers looking for the next big advantage on the battlefield!

Creatures are restricted to a class and as such this gives them the ability to be powerful

Droids need to be useable by everyone and so need to be kept weak and in line with level 10 CH pets ( or given out as a cert system to help balance them )

before you begin your plan to having the devs create a class that is trained in telling a droid what to do (/boggle) think hard about the effect it would have on the following

A) the droid market

B) the skill point distribution

C) the CH profession

D) the Star Warsy feel of the game

Droid Engineers are not about Combat - they are about droids and the effect that have on the SW Universe

This means droids are both useful and versatile to all classes - utility, combat, entertainment, etc. They cannot be the ultimate force on the battlefield - that role is the one of the CH pets.

TOTALLY disagree with this post - how can flesh and bome ever compete with micro-fusion reactors and weapons that pump out gigawatts of power. I'm sorry but I like a LITTLE science with my science fiction. There was never a creature in the SW universe that couldnt be taken down by more than a couple of pistol shots, never mind high powered or crew served weaponry.

Its quite simple - the weapons of sentient beings capable of controlling the laws of physics can and should out-gun any natural critter. Some of the largest SW critters seen were simply beasts of burden for shield generators. *shakes head* There are other ways to take care of the CHs - limiting Droid functionality in certain terain types might be one of them for example.

I believe, however, that fighting machines (or their crew-served counterparts...true 'tanks') should always be superior to creatures. Teeth and claws cant and wont penetrate armor on anything but the lightest vehicle. PLEASE!!! Some science with the fiction and not just a totally artificial and unrealistic approach to the game!!!

Although I agree, 'metallic pets' should be, at least, as powerfull as criatures, we have to be realistic: there is no way the actual pet system to be redesigned.

I think all the CH thing has been a bad idea since the begining of this game, but there is nothing we can do now. Not only that, but as "they were here first" our new droids should take care not to make pets obsolete and not to unbalance the game.

Sad, but true; we have to assume this: forget the DE-CH war, accept the limitations Devs have impossed to us and then try to improve our profession within these limits.
