Thread: Droid Repair Tool

Hiyas,

I have a two parter here. First, let me say that I'm a Master Artisan and Master Droid Engineer. I was running through town when someone asked if I could fix their droid. The guy gave me a "Droid Repair Tool" and I tried to repair his bot. No luck. He had to run so he let me keep the tool and he took off. I noticed the tool had been created by my friend who is a Master Artisan and Novice Architech.

So, I go try this tool on my own droids. Nope, it don't work. Then I try to create the tool for myself. I do not have the ability/schematic to create the Droid Repari Tool. GRRRRR! I tried to submit a bug report and it spat back to me that "...ticket creation failed.". Double GRRRRRR!

Anyone else have this problem? Does the tool even work now? I thought it was fixed in the last patch. Oh, on another note, I tried the Droid Customizer tool. Single use eh? That sux. Worst part is that when I stored my R2 and brought him back out, BAM! color gone. GRRRR!

The Droid Repair Tool schematic has been MIA since the "Big Patch". I think they just removed it since it didn't work because it was easier than fixing it

As for the Customization tool, with the right resources and if you are lucky with experimentation it is possible to get more than one charge. Most I get is 2, but the only box I currently have is Blueprints 1. I am sure if I had more experimentation pts I could get it higher. There was another post on this earlier. Someone was able to calculate the theoretical maximum charges, based on the % of experimental (effectiveness?). I cant remember the details, sorry.

OK, first, Droid Repair Tools do not do anything. The only way to repair a droid is to use a droid with a repair module built in. They removed the schematic because it didn't work. So any tools that exist now were built before the patch.

I don't know about details after this mornings patch, but the general gyst of customization was any droid built before the last big patch will not hold its color after being stored. But new droids should. Also I've been able to consistently get 2 charges out of my customization tool, and Im sure there can be more

If you can get it up to 26% quality (or whatever the only real variation bar is) then you can get three charges out of the sucker. Course for me, with all the trees filled except experimentation (who'da thought it'd actually have a use) I have to use really nice conductive copper to get it up that high, and I can think of far better things to use my good stuff on than disposable paints.

As far as painting goes, (this is all before this morning's patch) the R series and the MSE droids would not hold their paint schemes after being stored. However, quite a few other droids were losing their paint schemes within a day or two of being painted (or even repainted). From what I could see on them, it was directly related to that 'Your Droid Customization has faded some more' message, in that when it reaches zero, your paint is gone and you have to reapply it. Most the time it looks like it just goescompletely, though on my Hot Pink Binary Load Lifter (Built way before paint even came out) you can see it fade little by little. Last night it went from the Hot Pink it had had for the last week to a mere Feminine Pink, which any self respecting male DE would have trouble explaining away without saying "You big bad boy you"

Anyway, now that I've slagged off enough different types of people, I'm off again.

I think 5 is the max amount of charges for the customization tool. That's what I get as Master DE.

Let's hope they will work correctly soon.

I too am a novice DE with just blueprints 1. But with the right resources,I can get 3 charges out of my customization kits. I have a probot that I purchased after the "Probot Nerf" as I am still unable to make them. It retains it's color after being stored.

With good materials and experimentation I can get 6. So 6 appears to be the max charges atm, at least until we can get more than 5 darn experimentation points....

I can also get 6 charges on the customization tool.

Guys, you have to use experimented subcomponents to acheive maximum results.

This was discussed in another thread (which I can't find).

5 is the maximum number of charges if you're using garbage as input. Junk resources, unexperimented sub-components, etc. This is easily the biggest bang-for-your-buck version of the Customization Kit.

In theory we should be able to get as many as 8 charges with fully (well, our "full" 5) experimented sub-components and premium quality resources. Why anyone would put that much time and effort into creating such an item is beyond me, though. I've never made one better than 6 charges, though... it's simply too costly to go beyond that (and realistically the return is negative even on the 6-charge version).

If they ever give us all of our experimentation points it looks like we should be able to get 10 charges reasonably easily.

Thanks for the feedback/replies. I was "hopefull" that the droid repair tool was fixed. Not sure why my friend still has it listed on his account. Guess I'm not bugged, he is. :-) Either way that tool is useless.

I have a droid with droid repair module. I had just whipped it out when the guy hopped on shuttle so I couldn't test him out.

I'm sure I did experimenting on the Customize kit as I made them at my shop. But I will try again tonight. Seems like a lot of work and use of valuable resources for something that still appears very buggie.
