Thread: Better Probots ?

My new Probot advanced was taken out in 2 hits last nite. W-T-F !!!!! A mauler apprentice hit it with some "Mok" type of combat move and did 657 points of damage. The next hit was just about as bad. Poof ! it lay there in pieces ! Then they attacked me. It's a good thing I could jump on speeder and get away. And on top of that, when I gave the attack command,I was a bit of distance away from where I left the bot, so it could distract them while I tend harvester, but what does the stupid droid do ? It attacks maulers, then heads over to stand by me and shoot them. Guess it wanted to stand behind me so I could tank for it.These maulers were con white to me (MDE w/pistoleer 0,0,2.0). I've never had a problem with them before.

I wouldnt say the probots are better than pets now. Unless pets die just as fast. I wouldnt even say they are better than pre-patch probots.

No wonder 3PO runs when attacked. Bet he'll kick arse when he has a blaster. All I can say is the comming combat droids had better be something that can fight as good as what best BE creature petcan or I'm gonna B-I-T-C-H B-I-T-C-H B-I-T-C-H !!!! butI guess thats what I'm doing now

Same here. I thought they were suppose to be better. Ham 823, 60-76dmg. He went down in about 3 seconds trying to run a dark trooper mission. back to making medic droids.

yea , that has to be it. I don't ever remember the combat chat saying anything about what type of move NPC's used before, but did notice it this time. I think it's cool that they are balancing it out (even tho it makes me even weaker). I'll need to start using some new tactics and adapt. But it was still a little disconcerting to see my "Tank" go down in 2 hits.

I noticed once something very disheartening about my Probot, which was very similar to your situation. I sent my Probot in to go clear out some Spineflap maidens near my factory when I noticed the Probot's HAM just getting rocked... much worse than normal.

I had to use overcharge shot a few times to avoid my Probot from getting incapped, so I did an /examine on him after the battle. I noticed that his resists were wonky and only on 4 types of attack (with nothing for kinetic). I stored him and recalled him. When he came back out, his resists were all back to normal.

Now, this is a documented bug and it's even on Gorantoth's bug list, but here's the moral of the story. When you call your Probot out for combat duty, make a habit of /examining him before combat.

This may be the cause of your Probot getting incapped really quick. It's lame, but until SOE fixes the disappearing/migrating Resist problem, we need to be watchful about this.

Thanks for reminding me. I used to check it all the time, but it was always 40% on everything. I guess I got careless in assuming it had been fixed or would not be reintroduced in this patch. That'll teach my complacent arse

i don't know if i really want a combat droid that is rediculously powerful. i mean, it's not like i'm gonna use it to fight, i'm just a little ole' droid maker, i don't kill things that often. maybe if we had something with the ham of the original probot and a decent damage it'd be coo.

on a side note, what's the deal with creature pets? did they get nerfed all to hell? it'll be wierd not seeing so many grauls around. granted i think droids are cooler than pets, but really, do we need to have no good fighting pets?

whatever, maybe i'm babbling now, i'm gonna just go

One thing to watch for is the armor degrading. My probots seem tofight fine until their 40% effectiveness turns into a vulnerability. At that point they just drop like a diseased nuna taking a hit from a flamethrower.

i posted this on another thread before i saw this one but i built a fresh new probot all stats good but, like everyone elses, droped like a diseased fly. one thing i did notice though. my old probot con'd red to me before grouping and white after....this one con'd white on both sides.

Mine has been holding up much better. With the better damage, it makes it easier to take out targets.

What you are probably seeing is the revised combat system in place. Almost every NPC and creature will use their special attacks now (if you haven't yet seen one, head to Dath and get involved in a Nightsister fight. Awesome show just doesn't describe it!). Your droid has armour, a lot of the NPCs are running around with AP weapons now and are using it. I know that I'm certainly gettting taken out more often and faster now in combat than before because of it. For that reason, I've just invested in my own Republic Blaster. AP1 and better damage than the FWG5. Hits a lot harder most of the time.

Currently, Probots has NOT become stronger.

However, there are some changes.

1: Probots are CL 10.

2: The highest CL a non-CH can call, is 10, down from 15.

3: You can no longer call multiple pets, not even faction pets. (Not sure on the details here; CH's still has a bonus here.).

Comparing CL 10 pets with the Probot is nowfavorable for a well-crafted probot, but that is not because the probot is stronger, but because pets are weaker.

"I sicced my Probot on a Krayt and was disappointed when it went down in 1 hit!" Maulers? FS NPCs? Come on. Probots were only effective tanks against high-level content before the Big Nerf, and I doubt they ever will be again. That's what the higher-level combat droids will be for and what the MCH level pets are for now, IMO.

I Do!! We need then to deal with these blasted mobs they insist on spawning next to our structures. I tried to tend a harevstor yesterday that was at the edge of a bunch of houses and got jumped by several bandits and killed. And I had my gear with me because I wasn't out to do combat. So it all took damage even the stuf with the **edit** worthless insurance on it. When you insure your gear it should be protected 100%!!

Went home to do some crafting and tried to stop my my factories a few meters away from the house. Got jumped by a bunch of demons. Managed to kill the first wave, turned around to get stuff out of my factory and a few seconds latter had several more on me. Got away, pulled out my probot and sent it in ahead. Then ran for my house. Managed to kill one more short of my door step get in and set house to private. Then got the probot called in with just a few points left. I am MA MDE and Novice Carbineer and a few points shot of getting novice CH. NPC's spawn without a spawn point to stop the spawning, so even though I wiped them out I was still traped in my house for awhile because they kept spawning.

Oh, and that was in front of my house. Also had a pack of Evil settlers behind my house. They are no problem If I could have gotton to them.
