Thread: Types of Droids
Are devs goign to add any new droid schematics? Please let it be so.
I wouldn't care if they didn't add any new schematics, as long as they made the ones we have now usefull.
See the thread I started in the main discussion forum titled "I know this has been said before, but..."
My website doesnt list all the uses for the droids (since most seem to have none), but it does show pictures of the droids I can make, their options, and the resources required to make them.
My PA members find it very useful to look at so they know what it takes to make certain droids they want.

Good post and descriptions about our disappointing product line...
I have been very discouraged with the droids because I had also noticed that all the droids are the same thing with different form. This should be one of the most fascinating segments of SWG. I still have hopes that eventually DE will become a worthwhile and enjoyable profession.
No, not yet. But I can give you some info right here:
MSE & MSE Advanced - Everyone's seen the little mouse droids by now. They sell for less than 500 credits if they even sell at all. What do they do? They can hold the same modules as most other droids, only the advanced can have 2 modules, and has a spot for an armor module. Wanna take your MSE into battle? Of course you don't, you're not stupid. They can't even attack.
DZ-70 & DZ-70 ADV - Little silver spheres with legs that float around. Somewhat like Darth Maul's seekers in Ep.I. They do 20-30 damage and have a spot for armor and a module. These CAN actually attack, but they have only 45 points in each HAM bar, so they can't take a hit and fall to the ground. Woo-hoo! They make a neat floating med droid or a storage droid, but you're not going to get attack power from them.
R5, R4, R3, R2 & ADV models - What are the special abilities of the R units you ask? Why, they look better and more sophisticated than the MSE. Yes, that's all. It's like taking the garbage man and dressing him up in a suit. "Look, he's completely different!" They have brains, and manipulator packages, but those don't mean a thing. They can hold the same modules as any droid.
Probot & ADV - You mean you don't know what a probot is? It's the only reason that DE's exist. These super-charged battle-bots are quickly becoming the partners od even the most novice fighter. With over 3000 HP, 120-130 damage, and 1.5 speed they can take out pretty close to anything that you are way over-matched with. These floating black tanks are everywhere.
LE repair droid, and the Surgical droid - So, the repair droid repairs things, right? NO! It has 2 modules slots and some armor. Oh, and when you program it, if it has a personality chip, it will talk to you. So, now we have a talking MSE advanced that walks upright. Yay! And the surgical droid, what could he do? Maybe he heals non-medics if they load them with stimpacks? NOPE, wrong again! They do the same thing as the others too. Yet another bepedal waste of metal.
Protocol Droid - Wow, it's C3PO! No, wait, no it's not. The protocol droid may look like C3PO, but it can't reason, can't talk (unless you're programming it), and can't do a single domestic chore. Can't he serve your drinks or food in the cantina? Can't he deliver messages or money? Can't he do anything? No, he can't. He doesn't even have a module slot. Worthless.
Binary Load Lifter - What exactly does he lift? Where is he taking it? Oh, that's right, it doesn't lift anything. It's a big storage droid. Maybe we could stick a medical unit on it and have the first binary-walking med station. What a lame piece of garbage. So, you've spent about 300,000 droid crafting exp to get to master blueprints and what do you get? That's right - nothing!
And if you think that going up the other trees to get the upfdated modules is worth it, you're wrong there too. They all do the same thing. from 1-6, it's all the same. Sure, you can work up to get a mobule crafting unit, but is it worth all the trouble just for that? Not in my opinion. I personally plan on grinding to a halt with my droid engineering until they fix it up and make it worth my time and effort. Because as everyone can see, there is no point to our craft unless you want to be a "Probot Engineer" and not a DE. So, I hope that helps, and I hope everyone will read this. Enjoy!
For the love of all that is holy, I wish you would have posted that BEFORE I grinded my a@@ off to make Novice DE. I could have been making weopons a long time ago. At least people have a USE for those.
Sigh...
You know, it wouldn't be so bad if the devs would just come out and admit that DE is a waste of time right now, but assure us that they have great plans in the works for us. Sadly, with all of the complaining about the useleness of the profession since day 1 of the game, not a single reassuring word has been uttered by the devs about it.
Where are the Dev's response to our problems? I have yet to see one rely from anyonefrom SOE to any of our concerns about DE, this is a "Star Wars" game why so little thought in the DE profession?

No. No. No. No.
