So the last 2 nights i put about 5 or so droids on my vendor.

IDeed for: Probot (TANK) w/ armor (I put up 2 of these)

Deed for: R5 (MEDICAL 110) w/ storage

Deed for: R2 Adv (FULL STORAGE) w/ Medical & Chem-Food Crafting

Deed for:Surgical droid(MEDICAL 110) w/ Chem-Food Crafting

Deed for: LE Repair droid (weapon craft) w/ storage

I like to think my naming scheme is a good one.. I didn't charge much for the probots cause they are not advanced and also I can't do very good armor yet. I sold out of all of them!! My prices went from 9k for the R5, and like 12k for the probots, with the R2, Surgical and LE around 20k. I figured I was pricing a little high based on another fellow DE on another planet, but because it's costing me so much to level up (all that dang steel!) and also there are no DE's to be seen anywere near me I figure 20-24k for the adv fully loaded ones isnt taking to horrible advantage of people.

I was so happy i made like 70k or somethin! YAY! I am getting tired of tailor now, people send me all kinds of wack email orders that annoy me. So I may keep tailor and wait for the vehicle class to come out, or swith to makin armor or weapons or something along with DE. I dunno! YAY!!!!!!!!! DE is getting fun now!!

I use the following naming scheme for the deeds (by way of examples):

Adv R3 - w/d/g craft, 110med, droid rep, L6 armor, L6 item, L6 data

Adv Surgical - food/chem, 110med, droid rep, L6 armor, sarcastic

etc

It helps a lot with people being able to identify the droids.

oh yeah and my logic is this..

I know my BF is a scout and crafts granades and traps alot so I figured the weapon craft one a lot of people would want. Not sure which tool a smuggler uses. Then I know everyone wants storage...Most people also are novice medic, so those are the modules I have been putting in there. One freind wanted a structure craft but it will be a while before i get there.

I am now 3-2-0-4

With the ability to atleast put medical in one droid and make it 110 i am not gonna relax and level up slow (can it get any slower?!) I can't make like some uber bot with everything in it cause of this, but most people dont ask for that.

I like your 110med, but i think the majority of players who have never gotten a droid before have no idea what level 6 is and if its the best.

Thats why i like to say "FULL storage" or FULL armor and what not. I guess i dont expect my customers to be to educated.

Bindy -

You have indeed hit the critical mass point, so to speak, where you can start enjoying the profession a lot more

Enjoy

Just on observation: Isn't it better to use a naming convention that gets to the functions of the droid rather than the modules? I find most customers don't know squat about modules. But then I tell them 40% resists on medium armor or and they understand right away.

110 Med is another concept they know to look for in adroid.

I'm curious on what naming convention others use for droid deeds.

Standard item names on my vendor include things like:

Deed for Probot with 40% medium armor
Deed for R2 with Weapon/Droid/Gnl Crafting + 10 Item storage
Deed for Surgical Droid with 110% medical, food/chem crafting

There are several reasons for my doing it like this:

  • Limited number of characters to put something in the title

  • The fact that when an item drops into the stock room, I need to know exactly what it is, and you can't when you are looking at the deed

  • The fact that I make myself available to answer questions, by mail and by /tell

I find that this sytem works out rather well. I have tried several systems - but the text limitations, the need for standardization for sorting, and the fact that "Full medical capabilities" doesn't mean much more than "110% medical" to someone who doesn't know about droids. Different systems might work better for other people - just sharing what works best for me

A big part of my motivation in writing and maintaining the droid owners manual is that I can send "newbie" droid owners to it, and then have them come back and ask me any questions. Usually, they alt-tab over to the manual, come back in 10 minutes, and say, thanks man, and don't have any more questions

Droid education is a big part of being a droid salesman. There is no way around it.

ONe other thing:

If you look at my droid deeds, you will see that they are pretty heavily loaded. The text limitation thing really does come into play

Dropping the words "Deed for" saves you 9 characters right there.... Changing Advancedd to Adv.

BTW, I never exploit clusters - these are all legit droids

Yeah, I bump up against the character limit regularly, particularly when making customs, which tend to be more heavily loaded.

I typically use names like Deed for: R2 Adv Weapon Craft+11 Droid Reapair 110Med Item Store

I think I'm gonna drop the "Deed for:" part of it. I often drop "adv" since few people know the difference and everything I sell is the advanced model. You can't be a good salesman on your vendor if you're not logged on or the customer doesn't email/tell you so that makes those few characters even more important. I rarely use the comment field in the vendorbecause I don't think many people read it.

Oh, and I always mark up the name of the deed -- even if its a custom order for a customer standing right in front of me. You never know when the customer is gonna back out and your stuck with a generic "Deed for: Probot Advanced" title on an awesome, cluster-loaded probot.

Two things, of course, would be nice: Modules disclosed on the deed through /examine and if droids weren't dedds but more like BE products/objects.
