DE build droids right? well why shouldnt they be able to comand a small army of them?

the way i see it is to be a good DE you would have to master the artisan profession as well as have skills in DE, and if you want to sell your goods youd need Merchant skills, right? and i guess the same goes for all the other crafting professions as well, but as a DE wouldnt you expect to be able to participate in combate by leading a small squad of the toys you have created into battle?

having very few skill points avalible to put into a good combate profetion i think that DE should have an skill mod that inceasses as they earn DE skill level allwoing them to have 3-5 droids active at one time.

maybe they would need a special device to do this like have a Droid remote as there equipted weapon or make it so that calling multiple driods requires those driods to be fitted with a restraining bolt.

an other option would be to make an 'elite elite' profession off of DE, called Droid Operator or Droid Technician. i dont know what kind of skills they could have, maybe able to craft more effective battle parts.

just some ideas to think about form a battle hungry gamer that is considering making a crafting character down the road.

I don't like the idea of an 'elite elite' class- excuse me, profession... but I agree that DEs should control 3-5 droids.... within our profession maybe we should get a 'central droid control station' something that allows us to control multiple droids at one time... nothing big.. just something that allows control of 3-5 (not like the controllers that were on the trade federation's battle stations)

Just another idea...

yeah your right the 'elite elite' idea is kinda out there, but im glad you agree with my over all point.

correct me if im wrong but i dont think that there are many droids if anythat can stand up to some of the more powerful creutures in the CH profession, so i dont think a driod engineer with a small army would replace the need for CH and there ever importaint tanks, but as crafters we need to be able to defend our selves effectively. and if all our skill points are dedicated to the merchant and crafting skills then we will be lacking in our abilites to aid in the GCW beyond the items we can make. and by comanding a small droid army a DE could provide some support in combate, or at the very least a few extra targets to draw fire away form the other players.

How do you get a combat class as an offshoot of two artisan classes?

restraining bolt.

That pretty much sums up the entire DE profession.

wow, a constructive question!!!! now was it really that hard?

but seriously getting to my point.... it wouldnot be a combate class, the main point of being a driod engineer is still to make droids, my sugguestion is that a person that can make droids should have more knoledge of how to work with driods the others. and thus have the ability to comand a small group of more then one active driod (preferably 3-5).

The same way you get a combat class out of sitting in a tent for 48 hours.

Seems reasonable to me - the droids are trained killers - what combat skill do you reaaly need to say 'Droids attack x'.

Hmm not a bad idea, but needs some work. I do, however, tend to agree with others that droids shouldn't be primarily combat-related. The combat-side of droids should tiny compared to all their other duties.

By the way OmegusNeo, its "combat" not "combate"

I think we focus so much on the Combat side of droids because at one time it was a primary focus for sales for us.

Basically all weseem todo now is sell crafting station droids and medical droids. Even then the stations seem to be limited mostly to food/chem and general crafting. The structure tools are pointless because any novice architect who are the ones that need them can make their own crafting stations in their homes where they do most of their work since their resource stockpiles are at home. Same with armorers, I know several and they all do their crafting at home.

I want a whole line of combat droids for us to make. Every crime syndicate and rich guy seemed to have at least one.The original trilogyhad droids that took part in either combat or inflicted pain of some sort. The new movies have so many combat droids you can't swing a dead Rodian without hitting one.

Some people keep screaming Droid Engineering isn't a combat profession, well neither is Weaponsmithing, but all of their stuff inflicts more damage than ours do. A CH can sell a non-CH pet that can wipe the floor with us and anyone can use it. The thing is I don't want a living breathing pet, I want cold hard steel that beeps and blasts.

This kind of talk does not help out our cause. We are crafters, not a combat class. While I agree that we need sronger combat droids and the ability to call multiple droids at once, we are not the metal equivalents of creature handlers. We are the metal equivalents of bio-engineers. Combat droids need an embeddedcert system, not a droid handler class. Can we please focus on something realistically obtained.
