I was about ready to make the jump into 'Droid Engineering' tonight and the start of the long long grind trail. I have always wanted to become this profession. I really enjoy building things that could be programed to follow basic commands, etc.

BUT, after reading this forum I now have major concerns. DID they nerf this profession as bad as the post in this forumwould have you believe? Are all Droids (with the exception fo the Probots) as useless as have been described?

So here's a good question.... If you knew then what you know now, would you havepicked this profession? What would you pick today?

Not nerfed, bugged - Id say relatively 12% of the features included with the droid engineering profession are working as of today.

Time will tell.

No offence but I thinkthats a kinda naive way to look at it, as isee it droid modules with actual functionality seems to be the bugs which are being fixed the fastest. It goes the wrong way, functionality wise..

I said it when I was in Beta 3: "Not ready for release"

I said it when the game was released: "Not ready for release"

Now all I can say is: "Welcome to Beta 4 people --- have fun"

I agree with my colleagues. Droid Engineering has to be the most broken profession I have ever seen in a MMORPH. And I started out with UO, Played EQ when it started, Played AC1 and then DAOC.

But I hold on to teh hope that they will give it some serious focus in teh coming month or so. DOnt expect tomake money at it, but if you plan carefully you can do it.

Most Broke? No not quite, try a Crafting Hive Keeper in AC2 first week of release. And they broke them more as they went along!

But thats beside the point, why decide whats worst?

Anyway - I never came into being a DE with any high hopes, hell NO hopes, i knew they were broke when i started - but im here for the sole reason of the Future! One day droids will work, and well i hope! They will do some wonderful things, and im sure when we get ships R2 droids will be in high demand

Anyway - until then i plan to be a fledgling Gunfighter/Scout with hunting and enough pistol to survive and make some $ off of hides and or loot.

Prolly jump to Weaponsmith eventually. And then buy another character to make a great gunfighter so i can enjoy a working class

ok I know I will get slammed for this but I do not care. I enjoy being a DE. I dont sell a lot, except for storage compartments for crafters. I enjoy it, its fun but I guess i am easily amused. As far as the bugs go yes there are many but I just work around them and enjoy doing other things besides just making droids. And I sell enough to go to whatever planets I want and buy the things I want without running missions. So that is my 2 cents. I hope you enjoy being a DE.

I just started the whole hologrind after the holidays, when i managed to get 4 on one server. My first was marksman, so I started the slow course of a casual gamer up that tree. I happened to run into a droid engineer, and thought that it would be a great proff to get next. Well, I was pretty lucky. My second holo was artisan, and DE was my third! I'll be joining the ranks of the droid engineers! yay!

Ok I am a new Droid Engineer just starting out on the Wanderhome server and am wondering what are good stock items?

First thing that comes to mind are the Bounty Hunter Droids - but after that I am at a loss what do people find to be their best sellers?

Also - how much do you typically pay for your crates of Master Artisan items?

For the stock, harvester droids, combat droids, and droids with medica/storage/crafting tend to sell well, though it really depends on server/location/clientel. As for the master artisan parts, my suggestion is to just buy schematics for the parts. If you do any good amount of droid sales it would get too cumbersom to do by buying the actual crates. I usually pay 5-10k for a schematic of 1000 of any of the items, though usually the person offers to do it for free.
