Thread: 5min Spaceport time and ISD

Well, with the shuttles and spaceport times down to 5min each...

How much of an effect do you think it will have upon the sales of the ISD, provided the quality is very high (15min) ...

When it was at least 45min time (Rori, Naboo, Corellia), it is now down to 15min... Although shuttle/spaceshuttle costs are still the same...

Does this "nerf" our ISDs, or do you think we still have a viable product? (In a way, I believe we do, but...)

I don't think it will hurt sales. However, I don't sell many of these anyway.

Sales on these suck anyway, practicalyl can't give them away.

They really need to drop the survey tool requirement.

forgive the n00b for pitching in his two creds. I have made a few and haven't sold any either. After launching a couple myself and receiving the report some 40 mins later, I was disappointed (i also had to scratch my head when i went to survey and couldnt find my tool). My guildmate and I howeverconcluded the only real useful application for these things is to launch them to planets where you have harvs in order to see if that resource had shifted out. Yes, the shortened shuttle wait time diminishes this, but if you just fire and forget, you'll know in 30 mins or so if you should bother.

I doubt sales of these will go down much. Sure, the wait has been reduced, but its still some wait where you do nothing compared to some wait where you can do anything you want and be productive. Plus for those looking for a specific resource (which is what I usually sell them for) people are sending them out to every planet. Its still faster to wait on the droid than to wait on the shuttles (and usually cheaper too)

I agree that these don't move like they should (or were likely meant to)...

The Survey tool requirement isn't so bad, it's the stats thing that keeps people from them I think.

That being said, would it help if we had some kind of mini-game (that people couldn't control) for reporting back some of the stats?

I had been thinking that the email would include all stats on, say, 3-4 of the resources. That would mean you could keep dropping these until you got the stats you wanted.

Giving us stats can actually be a double edged sword. If the emails bring stats on all or most of the resources, then swgcraft.com will make a script to manipulate that data from the emails and update the website at a very accurate way. If these droids do bring back stats, it should only bring them back for one specific resource. So the problem here is the droid is giving out data that can easily be shared on a website. In turn others dont need to use the droid.

I think that if you allow the droid to help you locate resources it would be much better. Require Survey IV as a certificationand if you use this droid (or a new variant of this droid) it would give you a much wider survey area map of where you are. Just the other day it took me over an hourof driving aroundto find a good enough concentration of Ionite Ore on Dantooine. (Water is also very hard to find) Would have been nice to be able to use a droid to help me locate a high deposit faster.

I suppose this could be on the table too. I'm not sure how to do that in a mini-game type situation.

Ideas?

advantage is you dont have to travel to all planets to survey the lot, and costs are high compared to cost of batch of survey units, to go to some planets to do a scan can be bit expensive if its unsuccesful when you get there. stats on website is true but people can share that info without a droid scan, once someones been to planet done survey they can still post info.

droids would sell better if they had stats i have used them myself to find sources of materials and they do help.

Took me a while before I figured out what ISD meant... why not just type the whole word, Interplanetary Survey Droid? ... Someof usread these boards early in the morning you know... *chuckle*

Honestly I haven't sold a single survey droid so far because I haven't bothered making them at all.

I get all that info from swgcraft.com and more accurate too.

I only sell a few of these at a time, and the only reason I stock them is cause I had a couple of Guild mates ask me to. They use them with there combate alts to know when its time to pick up there harvestors. as they don't goto SWG Craft that often (don't know why)

How about a remote controlled droid? You set him to go to a distant planet (select planet, starport) or start where you are, then you get a interface like when you open your own survey tool + movement controls...

Then you can search the planet (maybe at 1.5 times the speed of a swoop) in this interface, with a refresh button and the surveyed area based on the userskills + droid&tool quality...

best would be with a timelimit, too, also based on the droid's quality...

Maybe a HP Counter for HostileEncounters & Armorplating for these droids too....

A Button to add the current location as WP into the Datapad maybe...

And as last Action, if they have enough power left, they could bring back a sample of the current ressource
