Thread: adventures of a stupid DE
so last night I get a tell from a person wanting a droid, one of my first customer. I think I have had two so far have me make one custome.
So he's like yeah I want a proble with armor and storage. So I am like sure (keep in mind I can make normal probots not adv yet). So I go into it to make it and I let him know that I can not make it full storage & full armor, but I can make it full one and half the other.
So I go and make my nice general socket cluster with full armor and half storage, and then go to put the cluster in the probot when i realize DOH, probots only take armor thingies?? OMGQ! ACK! Sorry dude.. NP he says just make it a battle bot.
So i make it and give it to him, then i examine it to see what my level 3 armor module does when i see no stats on examine i look in my inventory and there sits my armor module. DOH! Sorry dude.. NP he says make him another full storage droid any other kind. So I make him an R5, and i let him keep the probot.
Eeeeeesh!!!!!!!
Good news is last night I was putting a few droids on my vendor, a probot with armor, and adv R5 with storage/craft/medical and a surgical droid with 110 medical (stackin level 4 med modules). They were purchased about 5 mins after I put them on their. YAY! MONEY FOR ME! So I quickly made some more to replace them and some R2's. I LOVE the socket cluster thingy..
Anways.. lots of learning I have yet to do, one good reason now to rush to master, I can't grind anways right now.. gotta save resources for vehicles!!!!!!
Personally, I found your story amusing in a reminiscent sort of way, and it makes me very glad that I do most of my droids in factories, avoiding that problem for the most part.... Of course, if I ever leave something out of a schematic, and don't notice, I'm hosed.

I certainly have been down that road too. I really screwed up as a new DE. A BH asked me how many storage modules you could fit into an R4. Well, at that point I had just started reading this forum, and didn't know anything about the "cluster bug/exploit" So, I quickley looked at the schematic and tried a cluster module to see if it would fit. (when it DID, i just assumed it was ok, since on all other schematics, it you filter the input hopper, it will only show resources that are allowed to fit)
Anyway, when I told him I could craft him up a droid each with 9 lvl 3 item storage modules he was soooo happy that he ordered me to make him THREE R4's!! Well, I was just thrilled, and not a just a little pressured as I was doing this in a Cantina! Well you all know the result! I charged him 25k for all three and wondered if I was overchargeing (grin) Now, he was not at all amused to find out that each droid when called only had 10 storage each! I certainly was red faced, (if possible in an RPG).He actually was agood sport about it but I was mortified. Anyway, I gave him back 15k and chalked it up to learning in a very difficult, undocumented profession. In retrospect, no harm done, the client actually was happy with the droids, and I doubt it impacted on the game play as a whole.
I've learned a lot since then, mostly from surfing this forum. All have been very helpful and understanding.
Correct. Several people asked him about clusters in general sockets and he has no replied yet.

Actually, as I recall Thunderheart only confirmed that nesting a cluster INSIDE a cluster was a bug. Putting a cluster module inside a general module socket has not been confirmed by the devs to be a bug. It has been pointed out to them time and time again, but they have not made a declaration one way or the other.

It needs to be fixed like now. It is the biggest fubar in the droid profession. Why in the heck make master if you can stack clusters into any of the existing droid frames? I say go one further and stop the module stacking all together. Sometimes this game just gets me wrapped around the axle.

gah i didn't mean to call you an exploiter, i was just pointing out that it is an exploit to let you know.
As you know, since this issue also has been debated ad naseum, the definition of a socket cluster specifically states that its an array that fits a "variety" of sockets. Until such time as a dev declares that its not working properly I think you and others should refrain from calling people exploiters. The plain language of the definition should govern; all else is speculation at this time. Regardless of the merit of your position, name calling is uncalled for.
Remember that stacking modules was an "exploit" according to many people on this forum who recenly came to find out that its a feature that works as planned. I'm as eager to hear the status of the cluster from the devs as well.

answered in question #1 man. im sure you have read it. the question makes perfect sense, it addressed both parts whether they should stack and how they fit into the droids. it's an exploit.
The question is not two questions. There were follow up question to TH's answer that more clearly get at the issue in this thread and he has not answered those. Anyway, we'll just wait to see how they addresses this. I agree to be bound by whatever the devs decide, as I have stated before.
