Thread: Doctors destroying the economy

I play on Radient, and the going price for buffs is normaly 6-8k. I charge 10k and have never charged anything else. I get lots of business when there are no other docs are around and most are very happy to just have the service. I even getbusiness at busy times just because I have a shorter line, but often still a line.

The point of this post though is that I often get one heckler who stands around and complains about my prices. Often standing on top of the person I am trying to buff telling them I charge to much etc.

Lately, the complaint is that the price inflation by Doctors is destroying the economy and that I should help the problem by charging 6k for buffs and stop being a gready *%&^%%^.

So my question is, Who is really destroying the economy if anyone?

My first thought is that neither a doc charging 6k nor one charging 10k is the problem. When Doctors collect money they are just shuffling the money around between players. Not creating or destroying any money.

Seems to me the problem comes from more money comming into the game then leaving the game. So if anyone is to blame it would be the people running missions and generating cash. And secondarly the Doctors would be to blame by making it easier and faster for them to make this money by giving them buffs.

So it seems to me if people are complaining about our prices and the economy then the solution is simply to do our part and not give them a buff. (ok I am not really trying to be rude, just make a point). What do the rest of you think?

The problem lies within inflation. Money enters the system but there are hardly any means to take it out. (Ticket costs, maintaince is good for new players but neglicable for veteran players)

With each mission done more and more money enters the system.
The only thing I can think of to take some money out of the system are useless but kinda unique items. Like a special house, ore clothing. Where you have to buy the schematic but you would still need a crafter to build it. (Thus keeping the player economity running)
Or insta flights to premium prizes.
Bribing officals for something,
Paying some npc who keeps track of your harvestors. Or make droid schematics buyable, and DE's can create droids which maintain your harvi.

*sigh* As if anything of this will happen.

"DE's can create droids which maintain your harvi."

I actually like that idea, wish some dev or some one else would notice this. But the droid shouldnt simply look after them and pay maintainance, no that would be to easy.I think it should repair them with some Cr's you gave it for that purpose in case your havestor ran out of maintainance. But how hard/easy it would be to implement is a whole nother matter. Well all know that there is a certian danger when we got out to check our harvestors. So if the droid should be destroyable or not is up to discussion.

Ona sidenote, we know from the movies that droids are used in the the running of harvestors. So it wouldnt be an uncommon thing.

Put the heckler on ignore.

Once you target the person you are enhancing, use the tilde key to bring up the radial menu if that is how you buff.

Don't worry about your buffing ruining the economy...He's full of BS. If he spen as much time doing destroy missions as he did wankin about buff prices, he could have 10k in a half hour to buy buffs.

... most Docs are guilty of price gouging especially in the 10k+ range for costs....

Hmm I dunno if it's prize gouging. I charge 9 for 2.1k per stat. 12k if I take bivoli. And still any ranger or pure combatant makes more money with less time involved. I even think it's too less we charge but hey everyone charges what his time is worth. But running around the galaxy, trying to get the best stuff outside, paying maintance for harvestors, tickets, time involved... *shrugs* Money is worth less and less each day,(at least on Bria) but some prizes stay the same.

lol you ain't gettin my buffs for 10k 2.5k to a stat with bivoli took me ages and a lot of cash to get the resources if anyone wanted one i'd sell for 20k perhaps but why wast a buff when i can buff myself and do missions for 3 hours or go the geo cave for 3 hours nad get more then 20k in looted creds never mind the power cubes and loot that sell foe 20k +each, thing is with 10k buffs an elite player can go out and earn 600k on missions if he grinds a mid level player can grind 300k's xp while earning 100k plus on dant doing easy missions ppl pay 800k for armour they can't wear without buffs i think the buffs should cost to represent the value they are to players.

The economy will bear a price. I charge 10k for buffs that I readily admit are sub-standard for Chilastra. I've had zero actual complaints and only one person who declined a set once I gave him my details. Buff Packs cost me money to buy, and I charge based on what my time is worth to me. I have more fun running missions than waiting for someone to get to me to get a set, so I charge a lot.

I'm sure I'll run into some trash-talking drunken-monkey-midget-on-acid who thinks he can browbeat me into giving him cheaper buffs, and I'm sure I'll have fun taunting him to new heights of anger before I /addignore.

Simple supply and demand...

Doctors arn't destroying the economy. If anything Holo grinders are destroying it.

As long as someone is willing to pay for the service then the service is worth the price.

I dont say you should , but if we were to ask for 50k for a buff, that aint that much, when you can make 60k in 10min doing janta missions on dant, and after that still have 110min to make even more money. So it aint that much. i think we should raise it, many will complain, but its like, take it or leave it, we aint forcing you to pay =)

I think that your heckler went at it in the wrong fashion, its rude to do what he did when you can usually just /tell the doc and feel like you've done something. I also agree that your not ruining the economy you are just shuffling the money around this is true but most Docs are guilty of price gouging especially in the 10k+ range for costs.

I get this all the time and my only comment to the people who complain about price is that if they want the buff prices to go down that meat prices need to go down.We recently had amazing avian meat on Dath and it was being sold for 200cpu.I went and harvest as much as I could myself but ever since then people want 65 cpu for even the crappiest meat. And then have the nerve to tell me 10k is to much for buffs. Now I only buff when I really need money or if its for group members or guild members. Its just easier to do missions.
