Hey guys, I recently took about a 3 month hiatus from doing the doctor thing. I used to be a master doc/master heavy swordsman for 5-6 months. Anyway, I was just curious how many of you actually buff the general public. I remember doing this for a while and it seemed to be a giant waste of my time. Well, it was more efficient to use my buffs on myself and do missions or get loot to make money. So how many of you actualy do this?

I buffed people back when I still worked on getting Master Doctor (was 1442 Doc back then). After that it has been a struggle to get new buff packs, and finally now a chance to start crafting some myself.

For the last 1½-2 months I've always been buffing citizens and visitors of the player city I reside in, though I've at the same time thought it to be more profiting to buff myself and go on quenker missions (Heavy Swordsman too, so I make a fair amount of money hunting).

In time I might start buffing people again, but for now it's usually only when I'm waiting for friends to go hunt on an advanced planet that I use my Master Doctor title.

Very occasionally, when I want a change of pace. Or to nice people I've met buffing in past/random people who ask nicely/guildies/group mates. But as you say, it's a waste of time (and resources) for what people think is a fair price (8-12K). My days of sitting in Coro all day going spam crazy are over.

I have been buffing the general public for money for about 3 weeks now. But I can sure see why many doctors don't do that anymore. If I don't start seeing a bit more love from my customers my prices will increase again and I have already noticed that I am getting quicker and quicker to logout and play on my other account. If I don't have a line of customers who are well behaved and willing to pay my price, I just leave. They can complain to thin air if they like. I will more likely be having fun playing another character.

But there are days when I really do enjoy buffing for money. Some buffing sessions my customers will roleplay with me a little and chat while I use a macro to apply the buffs. I often roleplay Hawkeye' as to afraid to do the hunting himself, he is a big chicken really except when with the guild. Then he swollows his fears and goes out to help his friends. But if attacked he still runs around screaming for help.

And just so you know my other character is not a big chicken like Hawkeye' is.

stopped selling because of the complaining back when it was random. Make enough money doing my own stuff, sell stims on the side, which helps with the bills. Buff myself , guildies and friends and imps when we are raiding or defending thats about it.

I stopped selling buffs ages ago. The other evening I sold a full set of buffpacks worth on dathomir for 12k a set and made a nice tidy sum for just over 30 mins work, but the hasstle of making sure I'm not ripped off and the hasstle of people whinging about the cost, only 1 person in 25 and he paid up when I told him I couldn't care less if I buff him or not, reminded me that I hate buffing for cash.

We doc's are unapprechiated. It wouldn't suprise me if some people think we have buffpack trees growing by our houses and can pick them when they're ripe.

LETS ALL GO ON STRIKE.

Hats off to SOE. Not many companies could take the best MMO on the market and fu*k it up completely, that takes real skill.

Sounds like there is some unhappy doctors here . When I became a Doctor I purposely did not buff because of the problems listed here. Unfortunately the public is not patient or understanding. I purposely avoided this part of being a Doctor. Same with healing in the Medical center, I just don't do it to avoid the problems. Some People and guildies know I am a Master doctor and know If I am around or they come to me I will do Healing and/or a set of enhances for free. I get a whole lot less frustration then trying to sell enhances.

I don't know who came up with it but I keep the following in my bio, "Yes, I can buff. No, you can't have any. Want to fight about it?"

Words to live by. I usually buff myself, since I can get more money killing Jantas and twirling my Hammerthan to buff Tommy Jackoff who always sends a 'u buff mi' tell when I'm knee-deep in a 6-man Piket mob. But if they're really annoying, I charge them severely(20-30k). I alsobuff myguildies, since they saved my ass financially during my newbie days.

For a while I liked to buff for cash. I kinda made a sport out of it.

I don't do it much anymore for all the reasons above.

Now I only do it when im waiting on a shuttle. Just stick up the M. Doc take for one sec, say quietly "Anyone need a buff while we wait. 10k a set". Buff a few folks then jump on the shuttle.

Sure, there are many buffies that are jerks but there are a few docs out there as well.

I had one Novice Doc stand on my head and spam thier price (lower than mine for lower quality).

I had another doc send me lots of tells saying they did not know why I charged so much. The resources are not that expensive, she said.

From what I have seen, the new the doc the more they buff for cash.

I havent stopped, ive just turned into a real a$$hole when i buff. This is exactly what my message says:

"/say Please enter the buff line behind the farthest player to MY right. Do NOT tip before I say your up, I will NOT see it in the spam, any tips recieved before hand will be IGNORED. Buffs are 10k, hit for 2.2k and last for just over 3 hours. Please do not exit the line once you are on it, or ask to jump to the head of the line. All requests of this nature will be ignored. Again, buffs are 10k, last 3 hours and hit for 2.2k., the line starts to MYright. Thank you and Happy Hunting!"

I just got WAY to pissed off with people saything things along these lines(in no particular order of annoyance)

"10k is to expensive, I only have 3k... will that be enough?" (NO!)

"These buffs suck" 2 seconds later "**edit** it, Im getting ripped off but hit me anyway" (No skin off my nose)

"Can give you 12k to jump to the front of the line?" (Can you read?)

"Can you sell me your buff packs? Ill give you 10k for each one" (honey, it costs more in resc to make em!)

"Can you buff me any faster? I want to go hunting" (argh! so do i but im buffing your ass anyway!)

"These suck! I could have gone to [insertfellowdocsnamehere] and gotten better buffs than this for 8k! I want a refund" (well, I said what they were, no you cant have a refund.... are the buffs on you? Contract terminated)

Let it be know that I make my packs to have 22 uses, if one pack doesnt, it goes on the vendor. I hate carrying extra if i dont have to, so this one really annoys me:

"How much for just a quickness buff?" reply:" I dont break up my sets, but I would recomend some Tat Sunburn" reply "Thats bullsh!t, Im not paying!" (thinks to himself: Sweet! I can stop buffing sooner!)

Everything in () are what I thought im not that much of an a$$hole

You do get the occasional peope who are realy nice. I was buffing one guy while we were waiting for the shuttle, It took off before I finished, and he was Overt so I had a TEF. An imp comes up, kills me and gets my droid and my bike. The guy I buffed tips me 100k. I sent him a tell saying to him that he sent me to much and i will send 90k back. He relpied that the 90k was for the bike, getting killed and missing the shuttle. Gotta love people like that!

Over all, the only time you get thanked for your efforts is on an adventure planet, people in LAG-o-NET are jerks. Dont buff there.
