Hi!

I pay for my buff packs. I don't enjoy running all over hell and gone for my ingredients. And I am not entirely sure that if I did, I could still make the primo buff packs. The buff packs I get buff for over 2200 and last over 3 hours. They cost me a lot (5k to buff one person). When I was getting XPs for this, I ate the cost. It felt like buying my XPs. But it gave our guild the ability to do some cool stuff (like hang in Geo caves, even with no group focus). Well, my Med XPs are maxed (even after mastering CM on a larf). Also, I have come to realizse that no one else in the guild has to spend 30k to 70k everytime we have a guild hunt. So I approached the guild leader and asked him about encouraging guildies to /tip me when I buffed em. No selling buffs to guildies (because there is no set price, give what you can afford or what you think is fair).

His response was guildies get buffed for free. When I pressed hm on the matter, he said he would talk to some other guilds. He came back and said, no other guilds charge their guildies for buffs and he could not in all good conscience ask his fellow guildies to pay for guild buffs.

My question is:

Is this true are no othe guilds /tip'ing their doctors?

I also belong to a guild and buff my guildmates for free. One difference is that ALL guildmates help gather resources to make the buffs. This is as simple as harvesting meat while hunting or donating a portion of harvested resources from their extractors etc. Try not having buff packs once, and if they ask why tell them you can no longer afford them. Either they will help you gather resources or they will just whine, complain and threaten to kick you from guild. If the second instance is the matter, save them the trouble, leave and find a guild that values all members contributions and works as a TEAM.

I'm a master doctor in a guild as well. As I don't truly expect my guildmates to pay for the buffs, for the most part they do /tip me adequate. As for your guild leader and fellow guild members, they should realize that the buffs you supply them with are not free and in the respect should in some form help you out. By this, I mean they should help you recover resources need to make the components or the buffs in exchange for free buffs. My guild doesn't provide me with many resources but they do tip the standard 6k for a set of 6 buffs for the most part. Even when they don't, I don't complain as if I am going hunting with them it means more harvesting resources/looting as most likely the group I am with are well skilled and are able to slaughter creatures quicker than I can harvest the goods. Bottom line - buffs cost money to purchase or even make yourself and someone should be contributing to the cost besides yourself. Talk to your guild leader again and encourage him to speak with is guild members in regards to helping you out with monetary donations or at the least with resource donations - a true guild and city will help all citizens equally and not take advantage of their resident doctor. Depending on the server you play on, you can find reasonably price meds and supplies in a little town right outside of Theed on the Flurry server - SenRyu has a mall with many vendors including One Stop Meds which is run by myself and kept stocked with plenty of stims, buffs and woundpacks. I am in the process of running the factories again today as I had a blowout weekend which depleted my stock of buffs from over 200 down to 2 as of this morning. If you are not on Flurry then I don't know where to send you but wish you good luck!!!!

Here is the deal, if you give someting to people free they will take. And take. And take.

It's a natural thing. So you have to set the line. I give free buffs to guild friends whom hunt with me, who i hang out with, who i talk to often in tells or group chat. People who i randomly know from guild chat who yeah i have known their name a while but no i dont know them very well. I charge.

I say "well i am about to go broke so if you guys want buffs you will need to tip me something, i dont care how much just something" good people will tip you 10k, the cheap jerks will tip you 2k. Next time that person wants a buff tell them your out of meds.

In my new guild I just joined I waited to see how it was. So far they have given me many things, and I dont get asked to buff a lot so I am happy to buff for free. I just dont go on hunts if i know they will all want buffs, so i go on hunts when another doc is around then we can split the duties. Or i go on small hunts with those friends whom i would buff for free anways.

i dont ask my fellow guildmates to pay me when i buff them

my guild's armorsmith gave me 3 full suits of armor free.. my guild's weaponsmith is always giving me weapsons when i go for a new profession, our smuggler slices my stuff for free...

i hope you get the idea

but the thing is, even if we dont ask money out of each other, we usually tip each other anyways, as a means to show appreciation

i guess it depends on the level of trust and friendship in your guilds

for me i knew these guys from way back, and we're all buddies outside the game also

well most of us

I buff my guildmates for Free - never charge anything.

Sometimes a few of them tip - BUT im not expecting them to do so.

They hunt meat and help alot with resources.

I would not buff the public either - until the buffs started at atlest 25k

I can make much more money hunting myself - then selling buffs for 10k a pop

I am in a guild and have an alt account that is master doc and 4000 dancer/musician (for the 9 stat buff). Like others have said if we are doing something as a group - a raid or killing the acklay, everybody around me gets buffed for free. However if people ask how much they owe me, I tell them how much the buffs cost me. I think the lowest tip I've received from a guild member was 10k, some people give 20k+. Perhaps I am just lucky to be in a good guild.

I'm in the same boat as most of u. I dont charge my guild, but they harvest for me (though i do most of it myself). Find out where the good Herb and Avian are on your server and send a mail to the guild asking them to harvest for u.

Include in the mail how much is needed for each component and the final product. A few of them might understand and start helping. If u still want to buy buffs, most Docs will trade for an equitable amount of good meat.

no its not. if they wont even cover the min it costs you to buff them then i would take a look at how the guild works. are they just using you? or are they helping you in other ways (such as getting good meat, etc)?

Sounds like they got addicted to your excellent free buffs, Dr Fishy prescribes saying you're out of packs and can't afford to keep making new one's out of your own pocket. If they get pissy paying half-price or whatever you need to at least cover costs then get yourself a decent guild and let them sit in Horrornet for 1 hour for crap buffs before high end hunting. Assuming they're not donating large quantities of useable meat or whatever you're getting a very short end.

Ive highlighted in bold an important part of your issue with the guild. **IF** They are indeed guild buffs the guild should provide them, plain and simple. If it is coming out of your pocket it is your choice whether/how much you charge. I hear your pain on not liking to craft, but that would indeed save you money in the long run specifically if your guildies help you with the meat needs. The choice is yours, on raids or large group hunts of any type where only guild members are present the people that use up "reagents" (Buffs rez cures etc) should be compensated fairly for the materials used. On the other hand, you should not make a profit off your guild mates so you have to be careful in finding that happy area in the middle.

I would say that if the guild was paying for them they are guild buffs. If you are paying for them they are your buffs. Tell your leader that you need some kind of compensation for the buffs cause your going broke giving away something so expensive for free. Tell the guild leader to buy the buffs, and you will be more than happy to hand them out for the guild. If he is not willing to buy them I would think twice about being part of a guild that expects you to be a free buff bot.
