I'm new to the Doctor profession and so far I love it. I actually have two toons, one is purely combat oriented and this one will be Master Doc/Master CM/ Marksman 4000 or 0400.
Anyway I just started buffing today to make some money (The grind broke my bank) and after buffing one person, they pulled the "Thanks for the frre buffs loser" while running away routine.
Just curious if that happens often. Doesn't make me too mad, because I put on friends list with "STIFFED ME" in the commets. That way I'll know hime next time I see him.
Do you all get alot of that?

I don't buff the public anymore because I just couldn't take the monotony or deal with the jerks. I believe it is standard practice still to require the money in advance. I'm not saying it was in any way your fault.

I never start buffing unless I see the money come to me. Either regular tip or bank tip, does not matter as long as I get the cash first. My buffs are 12k, and sometimes they try to give me only 10K, or 1200, so just make sure you get what you ask for before you start.
BTW, I do alot of public bufing and wound healing in med centers, so I have some experience when dealing with the masses. you would be surprised at the tips I get at times from people with black bars, they are very grateful for quick heals.

I don't buff the public anymore (other than during shuttle-waits for low price). However, I have had some people stiff me in the past. Not as many as you might think though.
You can wait to be sure you get your cash before starting the buff as the other posters suggest, but I like to streamline the process. As soon as the timer message comes up, I like to begin buffing the next guy. If your macro is running, you are making bank. If you are looking for your payment, your time is not earning you anything. The few jerks that would stiff you are the same people that will stand and complain about the price that you have been shouting at least 4 times since they got in line. Rather than argue with them, I simply buff them and ask them to get out of my way (then put on ignorelist)

I buff the public pretty much everytime I log on and I have to say it's rare when someone doesn't pay me. I have a little macro set up so when I have a huge line I can just hit a hot key asking the target for the 8k I charge. The few people who have stiffed me.....I tend to try and make their playing experience hell until they do pay. But that's just me.

I dont' buff public either. No use in it, unless its guild mates or ppl helping to defend our base or a good friend. I usually take one buff and do Janta mission. You can make over 600K on one buff all profit. WIth buffing the public you look to make a profit of 200K with 10K a buff.

When I first made Master Doc, I thought I would try sitting down in Coronet to sell a few buffs... 40 minutes later I was beating feet away fromthe starportand I never wore my Master Doctor title again... ever... Actually, it really wasn'tTHAT bad but of all the things I've done in this game, I found that doing public buffs were the mostboring and a bit frustrating. In my first 20 minuts of buffing ever, I had1 person stiff me on payment and 3 more try tounderpay. I gave up and decided that it would befree buffs for my guildies and free buffs for anyone who would group up with me to PvP and that's it. Perhaps if credits were my goal though, I may have let myself suffer through many, many hours of public buffing.

If I need a buff and not on the same planet as my alt (MD/MCM), I request a trade and place the money within.

It never happens to me, because I always take the credits up front. No exceptions.

i tend to be a little paranoid about that: what i do is ask for bank tips only, and i have my inventory open. So each time i receive a bank tip for a buff (i get an email) i check that for each banktip email i get the money on my bank account (by looking at the minimized inventory). This way you can check wether the guy is scamming you or not.
Happened a couple times to notice people that had just written false banktip mails, (these guys have the banktip mail into their clipboard, they just copy paste it in their mail window and put your name), just /tell em "i got you dude, please do a real banktip now"
or /report them.
always report suckers like those. they for sure won't be banned, but they'll crap in their pants for being reported trust me. As most people acting like this are 12YO noobs with no life.
That's unfortunate buddy, but you can't trust anyone in this kind of game, someone is bound to try to **edit** you sometime sooner or later.
My 2 cents.

Yep, learned to do that very early on. If not getting stiffed will happen more often than you think. When a customer just sits there and stares at you for too long I simply tell the next person in line 'go ahead and tip', then start buffing them
TIP: Create a new chat channel and include only system messages. You'll only seetips, new mailnotices and buff/heal messages.
