Hi All,

Just before I do start to “get off on one” this is going to be yet another rant from an agitated Doctor.

This is not a rant about how Doctor’s need to make a stand and raise buff prices, that’s already been said and I totally agree with it.

My rant is to do with mostly the LACK of respect; we Doctors get on the Chimaera-European Server, I don’t know if it is the same on other servers or not but this is what I have found to be the case there.

I have been a doctor probably over a month now and already I am sick and tired of how most players treat doctors from my own personal experience and from watching other doctors get harassment as well.

Earlier today for example I arrived at the Dantooine Mining Outpost. I joined a Solo-Group as I usually do, now this solo group was just starting out so I thought I’d give a hand and shout a few times solo group forming tell so and so for an invite.

Now I’m looking at group chat to avoid all the flooding on the spatial channel, then out of no where I have someone stood beside with disease. This guy ran through my character for 2 minutes whilst giving me constant tells “AREN’T YOU GONNA CURE ME, I’LL DIE I NEED CURE NOW!!!!” then it began “YOU’RE A DOC YOU’RE SUPPOSE TO CURE ME, CURE ME!!!!”

Truth be told I told him where to go and didn’t cure him, he’d of been happy for me to cure him then run off without a thanks or a tip. Now sure enough the tip is irrelevant to me anyway but occasionally it is nice. But I don’t understand why we Docs are right at the bottom of the respective pool when clearly we’re the players that yes “sit on our asses and make money” (Oh bless the noobians that think this) however none the less we’re the one’s who give you the ability to go and hunt your mokk’s and your janta’s but you show us NO respect what so ever.

We are the one’s who fix your wounds when you’ve been stupid enough to duel a Jedi Knight or something a lot harder than you and get killed 3 times on the trot, simply because you don’t understand that you CANNOT win this fight, not by any means you currently have to hand.

So we fix you, we cure you and we buff you, but still no sign of thanks no sign of gratitude instead you give us grief about how high our buff prices are and you give us grief that you’re poor and should have a discounted buff because we make so much and one cheap buff wont matter (you shouldn’t have bought that shiny new suit of kinetic armour you’re wearing right in front of me now then should you….) Not exactly top of the gene pool were you.

Continuing:

I feel sorry for the players that are respectful and polite that have to read posts like these because those players are out there and its those player’s I go out of my way to resurrect and heal, they are the players that get discounted and sometimes free buffs to.

You know what the reason is for that? I’ll tell you, they get discounted or free buffs just because it lets me know that there are still decent people on the server and that not everyone is a total ass.

Now moving away from main buffing areas like MO, lets discuss buff outside of normal areas, e.g. outside of a shop or on a quest for a badge.

Lets use another recent example, last week to be exact, I was with a friend on the server who is also a Master Doctor, Ryker, some of you may have met him or even been buffed by him.

This is one of the nicest guys I have met in the game, he will buff anywhere, cure anywhere. ANYTHING to help anyone else out. But he gets nothing in return; a player came to him outside of a shop and practically demanded a buff from him, I told Ryker that he should raise the price a little due to it being a waste of food and drink to buff someone for the normal price out here, but don’t raise it by much only a little.

Ryker was fine for doing it at a normal price, so Ryker told this player the price and his exact quote was “Tell me the stats of the buff and I will tell you if its worth the price or not”.

That tipped me over the edge as it would anyone. I told Ryker not to give this guy the buff, instead to tell him to go to Coronet get in line and wait just like everyone else but this guy got his buff and got away with being an ignorant little **** to a damn decent bloke and a very respective player.

I now refuse to buff crowds and until I see drastic change in these players attitudes which I highly doubt.. I will not cure you players of your diseases or your petty poisons and I will not come to the rescue with a resurrection pack either so don’t ask me to.

I save those for the players who show respect and who help others out when they need it. If you’re one of the players who can do this small task of showing respect to Doctors then feel free to message me anytime and if I’m near I’ll come to your aid.

But for those players that don’t even have basic mannerisms or the common decency to recognise when someone does you a favour. PLEASE come to me in your minute of need and I’ll you a complimentary buffing enema

So there my little rant is done.

Regards to you respective players and fellow doctors,
Something I’d get banned for mentioning to you others.

UEK.

It is said a lot, but the one bad experience always sticks out in your memory. Well ... for those of us who have been around longer, the few bad experiences ..... but anyway. I used to get upset by these as well, caused me to take the tag off and stop selling buffs just because I really did not need all the moaning and groaning. But the one thing I can tell you is that there are more good people out there than losers. What you need to do is write down when someone does something nice for you etc, either big tip or just saying nice things.

I did this and discovered that the good people were more common, just human nature to remember the rear ends that we come across. So before you get upset at a bad one, read the list and enjoy the good memories. Then /addignore the loser and chuckles to yourself as you carry on.

Just a thought.

There will always be Cnet buffers for these people to wait in line at.

I will not be one however. When I do get tells they get my /macro reply telling them the stats and price of 30K.

If they scream and hollar aboutmediocre 2200 3.5 hour buffs for 30K then hello /addignore.

My good buffs go to friends and family.

well, I could understand if this was a Geo Cave or DWB group or something, but a solo group! thats just plain rude. People like that deserve to rot to pay for their attitude.

here is another good exampel.

I was in cornet buffing a good long +30 line and it got twords the end and was low on my buff packs. anyway i yelled for maby 5 min who the last person was in the line. anyway, i buffed the last person and they all went about there business. i sat there for maby 5 min when that last person in line came back and had died and needed a re-buff. i had every pack but a health buff so i was in a fairly good mood and buffed all his stats but his health for free. then after that, he started complaining about not having a health buff and that without it he was useless. i told him i cant help that, you got 5 stats buffed for free, i am sure a doc can buff your health for 2k or so. anyway, after a few min of arguing, i made up a health buff pack and gave him a buff. no sooner did i do that he started calling me bad names and cursing at me just after i gave him a free buff. is it me or should he have been happ that i even buffed his 5 stats let alon made a health buff pack and buffed it, but then to curse at me. i think that all doctors should just stop buffing people that they dont know and just take a stand for more respect from the players. we spend alot of time to master doc (also money for stims and resources, ect...) so we can help the players of our server to be able to do what they could not do without buffs. and about the prices, i think it should be raised to atleast 15k beacuse how many people cant turn around and go make 200k+ off thoes 3 hour buffs that only cost 15k. granted not all people do that but i am sure they do every once and a while so i know they atleast break even. also you have the power gammers that can make over 500K just in cash off thoes buffs not including all that loot. including the loot, they could have made millions of a miesly 15k.

hey all I feel your pain. I've been an entertainer since launch. One of the most known on my server. I do what I can to go out of my way to help heal or buff people when asked even tho most of the time that means i have to put something else on hold. Like today, i had 7 different tells or channels going on and was working on my city. Someone needed a heal. I say i'll be there soon. Then get /t "Im at the cantina"... "Im here waiting" you get the jist. I get there, and hear ....so do you expect to be paid or something... i say that it is usually customary to tip what is appropreate in their mind for a heal.. (he had 800bf). He say's well you'll get good xp... i say well i've been caped on xp since july of '03. He says nothing else and leaves when done. People used to be nice and respectful but they certainly are not anymore. As was stated there are still players that are.... ironicly it seems the majority are those who've been in since near launch but oh well, what can you do. I just play my way and ignore those types because its all you can do with the way we are treated.

its the tag

first ihave to say, that most players i come into contact with, are at least ok, i.e. they will /bow and say a quick ty before running off.

but sadly i say this as one who 75% of the time has his tag off now, because of a few incedents like you mentioned. but most players are really quite nice.

i have started only keeping my tag on on the adventure planets so if someone needs a buff or help, they can find me.

i routinly ask for 14k when off the main planets, and i always explain why and i never got flak for it.

i have realized that almost 100% of the players, nice or not, when seeing a master doc tag, expect that doc to be willing to buff, prefebly now.

mostwill ask nice , some not as many stories here have iilustrated, but when we have our tag up, it means that we can and will buff. thats the way players see it.

with entertainers its different because they are expected to heal only when in catinas, so they can proudly walk around with their hard earned tag with nofear of tell hell.

unfourtunaly, if we want to be left alone, we gotta use the medic tag, novice doc alt profor none at all.

Ahh yes the cries of the great unwashed...

Ive only recently started using my doc tags simply because i want to, 99% of tells i get are rude people saying "buff me" or "gimme a buff" no please or sorry to bother you. Recently ive been bugged by people saying buff me for free..why the hell would i do that? I heal peoples wounds, cure diseases, even rez people for free when im out and about but rarely get a thankyou.

People see us Docs as NPC's there to do what they want when they want and it annoys the hell outta me most of the time.

There are still polite people out there who will thankyou for what you do but they are becoming fewer and fewer.

Hi. I agree with this. I don't tip for buffs (the doc gets the 'tip' as the payment) but I always tip for cures, resses, etc. One of the main reasons is i have a char who is going doc (medic 1344 right now) and i know how annoying things like no tips (ever) can be. I started getting tips recently though. Changed server. Non medics don't seem to realize how hard getting the resources can be. I struggle to get the resources for advanced components gained at organic chem 4, and i have no doubt that doc buff/res/med/cure packs are even worse.

Guys just remember that you are in control and teach them a lesson.

When i was buffing (didnt buff publicly for something like 2 weeks) people that were rude even if they were in line weren't buffed. Its tiring to get hate tells cause people dont like to wait in line.

Or when i see a noob dying from a disease of having wounds saying "heal me of buff me" i just answer them "no no no, you need to say the magic word!" (most of them are so stupid they don't understand its please)

You're the doc, its your rules. The guy's being rude ? no problem, there are plenty of other people that are willing to get buffed or healed and that will behave nicely.

Oh and always report the people that are extremely rude. It sure does nothing (its not like insulting us poor docs will get em banned), but it makes the little frustrated 12 yo kid behind the comp crap in his pants from fear.

They guve you no respect? then get it yourself from their hands!

I haven't had any really bad experiences as a doctor... I buff publicly on occassion, typically I'll scarf a bivoli in the MO and then buff a few people before buffing myself to go hunting. That way I don't waste the bivoli on myself, and I don't get tired of sitting in uglaggy coronet buffing endless lines.

While I was reading your message, though, I was thinking to get back at people who whine for free poison/disease cures you should pick up CM and tell them they need to duel you to get into combat mode so that the cure will work with 100% efficiency (or some other b.s.). Then slap an even bigger poison/disease on them, tell 'em to get bent, andswoop away

I never remove my tag, and I have no problem telling people "I'm NOT buffing." I do heal most people that need it, whether they ask me or not because i like to roleplay my doc at times. But like someone else said, YOU are in control because they want something you have, so it is up to them to ask respectfully, and respect the fact that you could say "no."
