For me, /reply Sorry, I'm out of buffpacks works better than /reply sorry, not buffing now.

*john tells you "Are you buffing?"
You reply, "no"
*john tells you "k"

I've never had a problem with a good ol "no" Well one time I did, but its kind of amusing to have people follow you around and beg. It is a game after all, have fun with it.

If it's no longer fun to mess with the dude, /addignore. I have always been nice to my doc, maybe its karma thats rewarding me by having nice clients. maybe its cause I have over 400 people ignored... /ponder

Sounds like we are our own worst enemy, we as doctors need to teach appropriate manors through denial of service.

“… last person in line came back and had died and needed a re-buff. i had every pack but a health buff so i was in a fairly good mood and buffed all his stats but his health for free.”

Not to pick on you but what is the message you sent here? Sounds to me like if you keep bugging me I’ll do something for you. When I say my line is closed, it’s closed. They message is, you are wasting your time talking to me after I say the line is closed.

“You're the doc, its your rules. The guy's being rude ? no problem, there are plenty of other people that are willing to get buffed or healed and that will behave nicely.”

Exactly, if we all stick to this the rude people will either learn to be polite or go unbuffed! It’s up to us as a profession to determine what is acceptable behavior from our customers.

I hear what your saying but sadly your talking to the wrong bunch of folks.

We are all docs. We are all in your camp already.

If you wish to make a change copy/paste this in your server's forum. My advice is to keep it up beat. No one listens or will change their ways if spoken down to. Make suggestions and not demands.

Also, any prof that interacts with others to make thier living faces the same issues as docs (entertainers have an even harder time than Docs with all the buff bots around).

Good luck.

If someone is rude, don't buff them. This is handier with other professions because you can make things even worse for them. See the bio-engineer board.

Depends on the circumstances when it comes to free buffs. If there is someone in my city, buying goods or services from one of our residents then yea maybe... If it's out in the field and I see someone just get owned by a mob, then probably... If it's anywhere else, and especially if they are rude... munch on some havla, then slam em with super low power Enhance-A's in 12 seconds hehe. Sure it costs you for the food, but just seeing them go into a rage over low power free buffs is sooo worth it. Even better if they don't crtl+c and they don't notice then just run off thinking they got something good for nothing. Serves 'em right!

More serious though, I have been a Master Doc since Jan. I have stopped buffing the general public because of such instances. Once in a blue moon will I sit and buff. My buffs are reserved for friends and the newbies.

On the most part people are nice, its just those few that really ruin my experance and make me cringe when I think about buffing.

I wear my Master Combat Medic title, sometimes I'll wear the Master Doctor one in my PA's city.

I'm taking into considoration all views and I agree with every last one of you, we need to do something and this time not just say we'll do it this time in fact do it.

Ezane came with the idea of just not buffing, this is one possible and a practical idea we can buff ourselves and go hunting and do what we want to do for a day with no worries at all (except this time a billion tells to be laughed at)

A strike from buffing sounds good, but it would have to be done on one of the busiest days and for a full 24 hours to make it truly stand out.

Buff maybe your regular customers that are decent but anyone you dont know leave out. I

exactly! i keep my "Medical Professor" tag up 24/7. sure i get a few tell for buffs but i respectfully say i'm off duty and if you are seriously ill i will help you but i will not perform elective procedures when i am not working. sure i rez (if closeby), heal wounds, poisons, and diseases b/c its not too much effort on my part to hit F5.. now if someone gets rude, or l33t with me i don't even bother replying to them because they're not the kind of people i want to spend my gametime with.

Other players are ot the only ones to give me greif as a doctor. I've had other docs tell me I was cutting into their profits/buff lines. The funny thing was that I was there first. I only set up shop if there is a need (i.e. only one or no docs buffing). If I see three docs buffing and the lines are short I respect their business and go hunting or something else.

Buffing is not my primary (or even secondary) source of income.
