Thread: In defense of force healing
/disagree;
I know a lot of jedi pvp. But I also know that a lot of the flak jedi have caught regarding their allegedly over-powered heals has been in reference to pve experiences (grouping, hunting etc.). These are instances in which jedi would be healing alongside traditional healers (medics, docs, cms) not against them. In this arena it is a matter of proportion, not direct balance. Consider what the current jedi rate of healing does to party dynamics as well as your extreme pvp example.
If you get attacked by 5 bounty hunters at once...well sorry about your luck. The force just isn't with you that day, buddy. Everybody's gotta go sometime, and hopefully you've gotten the blue glowie skill box.
In that situation my advice to you is to run. If you make it away from 5 bh's, maybe incap one of them, you've got nothing to be ashamed of. Jedi are mortal too (I've know I've rezzed my share :-P). Not being able to beat everything you come up against doesn't mean you're underpowered even as an alpha class.
Lastly, if you feel that your healing abilities are the only thing that distinguish you from other professions, you're probably in a grave minority. But let's assume that is the case and the only reason jedi are special is because they can heal for 1500pts of damage. You should probably be writing an aggressively worded post to the jedi correspondant and asking him help jedi everywhere to be more than paladins in dresses waving 4 foot glow sticks at people. XP loss comes with the territory. The truth is - and don't tell anyone this- /whisper jedi don't actually belong in this game and xp loss is supposed to be a deterent, but that's anoter board and another post. Thanks for sharing

as a jedi you should have a new attack on a 5 sec timer
the i win button
give me a break
if you think that dedicating one line 4000 into healing should outheal a master doctor someone who put thier mastery into then you sir are sadly mistaken
xp loss -- not my fault you CHOOSE jedi
5 bh's -- not my fault you CHOOSE jedi
i am glad you get xp loss or think of how many people would have 1500 heals --- i have seen many people quit because of the bh's i am glad ----i dont know why the bh hunt the jedi knights that are not going anywhere ----they should hunt the padi till they get so discouraged that they do not grind jedi any longer
the only one who should compete wiht doc is a master healer not a dabbler of jedi healing

I know alot of doc's believe that force healing is too over-poweredcompared to what Doctors can do. And yes it is, but for good reason. Unlike Doctor, Jedi is primarily a pvp profession (especially at Knight). If we get attacked by 5 Bounty Hunters at once, were going to need an edge, those1500 heals, to even have a chance at staying alive.
As a JK myself I can tell you when it comes right down to it, we are not all that powerful. Without Force Healing we are pretty much on par withnon-Jedi combat professions. That may not seem like a big deal but considering we are the only profession with XP loss but with the largest XP grind from anyone, we should be entitled to "some" advantages.
Well I've got to say comparative power issues aside, you should be dead if 5 BH's come after you; if force healing is allowing you to survive such an encounter then it is very much over powered. In any case how often does this actually happen? And even if it's often, isn't that the point? The real risk of deathis there to deter jedi from being overly visible, the player base apparently doesn't want to see Jedi running around in game so this harsh deterent was devised to appease people.

So you're advocating griefing players so badly they quit? You are a sad, pathetic little boy.
By the way, not a jedi. Never was, never will be. I was a doc defore the great nerf of '05.

We don't believe it... it IS overpowered.
And yes it is, but for good reason.
Wanna hear this...
Unlike Doctor, Jedi is primarily a pvp profession (especially at Knight).
You are wrong. All combat professions are pvp professions.
If we get attacked by 5 Bounty Hunters at once, were going to need an edge, those1500 heals, to even have a chance at staying alive.
Want a chance of staying alive???
DON'T GET YOURSELF ON TERMS
As a JK myself I can tell you when it comes right down to it, we are not all that powerful.
Without Force Healing we are pretty much on par withnon-Jedi combat professions.
Then Avoid Incap, Channel force, Saber throw, Saber dervish (deals more than 1k damage), Force Valor, Force Speed, Force Run 3 (can go faster than a swoop), Total Heal and force Cloak must be a product of my imagination.
That may not seem like a big deal but considering we are the only profession with XP loss but with the largest XP grind from anyone, we should be entitled to "some" advantages.
MORE advantages???

You get a whole lot of other useful things for that doctor mastery. Don't even try to pretend healing is all you get.

Yeah, we can Diagnose them to death... ¬¬'

i fought a guythat hadtkm tagbutwas using a mace from kashyyyk. mls/me/healer4040 so near to no defense. this guy was hitting me for over 1k points of damage, and those are the numbers that was being recorded from the combat log. it was shocking and he was the first and onlymeleeperson tohave done that to me,also all his hits were in that damage range so unless he used only specials against me, his normal attacksarepretty good too.
Yah, but WE ALL can get hit like that, i mean, jedi don't have a -200 defense modifier, so if we are hit like that would we get those 1500 helings too??
although this was a group battle even if it wasnt i couldnt have hoped to beat him without being able to absorb the damage he was doing. in fact i didnt beat him and i was healing more times than i was able to attack him. in the end i was forced to root him and more away.rifleman and other ranged builds typically hit me for 700 avg and 1.5k with specials. fought one guy that was averaging 900-ish on his normal attacks with his carbine.
again, that happens to all, not only jedi, no point in this.
so while some may think force healing is too wonderful, it is wonderful for good reason. the fact is, it doesnt take 5 bhs to bring you down, it takes only one.
Oh my... stop using BH's as your excuse... want to counter BH's hunting you?? stay off the terms is better than healing i can swear it.
the offensives disciplines afford the jedi next to no defenses thus he must get his defenses from defender or healer. yes healer is a defensive tool allowing you to absorb a lot of damage so that you dont have to run away from every fight.
and aabadon, you dont seem to have much understanding of how jedi works.
actually i do, i even have a jedi.
avoid incap, fr3, total heal, dervish, all of these are master lvl skills and oddly enough they are all from different disciplines thus no one can ever have them all. none of that has anything to do with this thread but think about this, if a person does take 2 masteries andfor this example one offensive and one defensive, sodefender and lightsaber. if he takesthose then he wont have great healing or if he does then he sacrifices other things like force management.
i know i know, but those were examples, and i didn't wrote ALL of the jedi skills, but i can tell you, jedi have other useful abilities besides healing.
first, no one is using bh as an excuse and also avoiding pvp isnt an option its an dilusion people like you have. when we are able to become knights again are yougoing to tell them to stay off the terminals?but again that hasnt anything to do with this thread.
yes, everyone that has no defense can be hit hard but never did i suggest they couldnt. force healing is used as a defensive tool for the jedi, that is my stance.a pistoleer can mixhis profession with, i dont know, maybe bh or something and he will have 200+ melee/ranged defense. add to that he can wear nice armor thus he will not be taking the same damage as my character that chooses a different form of defense.
if you want to weaken the defensive abilities of a class, you must give them something in return.
guys it should not matter
jedi are rare
rofl
more jedi are overt pvping than regulars

Try looking through the skillboxes.
